currently subscribed to bang.com and re downloading the entire red light district library in the best possible resolution. sadly, most of the early movies which i prefer are 480 resolution at best. some random titles and nearly all of the vince voyeur titles from his days there are in 540p which looks pretty decent on my tv. much better than 480p. my question is do any of the other mega-sites offer quality better than 480\540 for the early titles? i cant imagine the titles shot in 2002\2003 (which are my favorites) were natively in anything higher than 480 so these would have to be manually upscaled by a website to be in 720 or 1080?
Best will be 480p/540p on any sites carrying Red Light District titles. Best format released was 540p for DVDs for the Europe/Australia market. With this resolution the bitrate will be higher on the DVDs than the VOD sites.
ah i was fearing this. even though that is an acceptable quality for sure those scenes are among my favorites all time and was hoping to splurge and get some 720 copies at the very least. interesting though europe and australia had higher standards for dvd releasees? that is a cool bit of trivia if true.

'00s gonzo - RLD, Platinum X, Anabolic and Diabolic - is my wheelhouse, and something I've particularly hoarded over the years, as it was my first experience of porn.
I too have tried to hunt out the best possible resolution files I can find, and have invariably found that 540 is the peak, as and when I can find them. Some later Voyeur / Mike John etc productions were 720 (from memory), but vast majority of that 00's output will be 480 / 540.
In terms of sites, I've found there's little resolution difference. Just difference in the studio titles held. I always liked Videobox and Videosz (which migrated to Bang.com) as the selection was pretty comprehensive, with few - if any - titles missing.
Would love to see both RLD / Plat X and Anabolic / Diabolic have their own dedicated sites once again (the current Diabolic site is rubbish and patchy, so doesn't count IMO).
^ I knew Bang.com had some of the titles from these studios but not that they had a lot of them. The last time I had a membership there was probably 18 months ago, so it's time to join again. I do remember being very impressed by their back catalogue of classic DVDs. Bang is a great site, whether it's their original stuff or the huge catalogue of older titles. I probably should join more often.
they have something like 618 red light titles which i believe is the complete catalogue! plus all of the vince voyeur titles even the ones he owned and took with him to his own label. so if you search out vince voyeur productions and red light district and know what titles to look for you can have all of them. also 400 platinum x titles which was the sister company to red light same directors and style. i too believe is complete but the platinum x titles are all in 320p at best which is very disappointing. bang is a very valuable resource for old gonzo titles and usually you can get a great deal for a reasonable price.
yep this was my favorite era \ studios of all time i can honestly say. strangely there are a few classic vince voyeur titles on bang that they must have upscaled themselves as high as 1080p. 7 the hardway 2 is available in 1080 but i was disappointed when i played it on my big screen tv. sure didnt look like 1080p. diabolic i believe was the one where it gave me access to a handful of classic vault scenes but i had to unlock more each month i was subscribed. i calculated it to where i had to be a member for close to 5 years to unlock the whole catalogue which was not worth it for me at all. this was back in 2019. sounds like it has not changed :\. sadly most of the platinum x catalogue on bang is 360p at best for some reason. including the whole bakers dozen series which i strongly coveted because some of the dvd's in the series are being sold for over 100 dollars on adult dvd marketplace. i was really hoping to get all the bakers dozen movies in 480p or better but not available on bang in that resolution.

It's been a while since I've looked at the sites out there, as I amassed my titles a few years ago (when the RLD site was still active), or digitised the DVDs I'd collected. Thesedays, I use Adultempire for any leftovers I didn't catch (mainly Diabolic/Anabolic). It means ponying up per-scene, but some are really cheap (and AE send out coupons to the mailing list).
Yeah, unfortunately, resolution can be an issue. Though, my rationale / cope is that DVD was never hi-res itself (480/576), so the loss is something I can try and deal with. I'd be more bummed to find a 1080 scene drastically shrunken down. This was my issue with a lot of the Belladonna Productions stuff. It felt needlessly low-res, even on the DVDs. Really hoping Evil Angel will remaster those at some point. 'Cock Happy' was such a great series, with some of Bella's best scenes.
I sometimes wonder if we are a minority of nostalgists, yearning for Monica Sweetheart to go another round with Lexington Steel or Jon Dough!

I may have posted this previously but Bang is an absolute treasure trove. Not everything there appeals to me but l doubt l've downloaded much more than a fraction of what does.
