Hi!
I would like to buy Titan new movie called SLAMMER but it seems to be only available from the studio itself at $69! (MSRP: $79.00!!!)
Does anyone know how long studios reserve the sale of dvds before they go to retailers?
Thanks

I can't answer specifically; however, many studios run a lead of about three months, giving their diehard fans enough time to succumb to the pressure of instant gratification - and much more money in the studio's coffers - versus a significant discount through middlemen and normal retail channels at a later date.

Whaaaat?
You mean I'll have to do without DRED SCOTT and his tattoos as the prison warden for another three months?

Thanks for the info anyway.

Well, if you are really desperate to see Dred, you could try subscribing to their online service. It's $15 for a 2 week trial, in which you can watch all of their movies online. If you have broadband, it's pretty good quality. I tried them out a few weeks ago just to see how well it worked. They had ALL of their movies (completely unedited) online. Of course, this was before Slammer was released. I'm not sure if they have that one online yet or not.

Keep in mind, though, that they have gone to great pains to make sure you can't save anything. Once your membership is over, you are left empty-handed.

Maybe I'll go back to my careful study of TRESPASS and DETOUR and wait for the price to come down!

I was just doing a little checking up on Slammer, and it looks like this is one of those flicks that has "controversial" scenes in it. If that sort of thing (watersports and heavy assplay) floats your boat, you might as well plunk down the big bucks and buy it from Titan now, since other stores will only be able to sell the censored version.

Titan has a deal with TLAVideo.com, which gives them the exclusive rights to sell the uncensored versions of their videos, but from what I can tell, the prices are usually comperable to what you would see at Titan's web site. (Though you may be able to save a little bit at TLAVideo... the uncensored version of Fallen Angel 4 is only $79 at TLA, and $89 at Titan).

Thanks for the TLAVideo.com tip, Joeblow. Unfortunately the movie is not yet for sale on their site though it IS listed.
I'll give it a try at their New York store when I get there next week. I am not usually a big fan of endless insertion of awkward objects but 150 minutes of extras must have more than that.
I read on TLAVideo site the review of TRESPASS and it made me wonder if I was right to buy the regular version as they make the extra disc sound so good. Maybe just a sales pitch?
