I'm sure I'll have something to say when I see it, because it'll also be my first exposure to Carmen Hart. But so far, 2006 has been the year of David Stanley for me.

I just got done watching Rendezvous staring Carmen Hart and Randy Spears directed by David Stanley and I just have to say that this is one of the best porn films I have ever seen. For the past few years my habit on movies with commentaries is to just watch the movie with the commentary on and never bother to go back and watch it without. For this one I made an exception. This has got to be one of the funniest, most off-beat, yet serious movies I have seen in a long time. As an introduction to Carmen and David's work for Wicked (it was mine) you couldn't ask for a better movie. And the performances from the leads was top notch. Randy you just expect to be fantastic but Carmen was superb. I know January is a long way off but if AVN doesn't remember this one then something is seriously wrong here. What I really loved about this movie: 1. Excellent script 2. Superb acting performances by Carmen and Randy 3. Masturbation scene between Carmen and Randy in which they show nothing. 4. The fact that David Stanley realizes you don't always have to show the penetration all the time in a sex scene 5. Carmen putting Randy in a head-lock 6. The whole dating game style montague 7. Yes the sex was hot to. And since nothing is ever perfect. The things I didn't like about it: 1. Didn't really get the point of the Stephanie Tripp/Talon scene or why it was even there. Seemed to be filler. Short filler but filler none the less. Here's what I did get from it. I really knew nothing about Carmen Hart. Damn, that may be the Southern-est accent in the history of contract girls. Possibly in the history of porn. I love the voice, and I was totally not expecting it. I feel like she has a kind of ordinary, everyday type of beauty, but tons of it. Which is perfect. The only other time I had seen her (not in a movie), she had her hair jacked up all weird, and didn't look that great. I'm officially a big fan now. Plotwise, my impression was that this is a movie that doesn't make any sense all the way through, and then throws in a big "explanation" scene at the end. The only reason it can get away with it is the overwhelming charm of the star. Of course, this is porn, so Hart could make a movie much worse than this one watchable. I started out a little skeptical about her potential as a Wicked girl, but after her first movie, all my doubts are gone. [Link] |
