Due to the high costs of outright buying the movies i have considered renting thru the mail. However, scratched dvds worry me as i heard one poster talk about it. Any other issues i should know. Please advise and thank u for your help in advance.
I can't speak from experience because I've never used that type of service but have you thought about a site like Videobox? You may know about it but in case you don't then they have a gigantic library of movies and the join price is ridiculous.

I've rented thousands of DVDs through the mail since January 2005 through almost all the rental companies. I would say about 96-98% they are fine. I occasionally receive a disc that is cracked. And if a DVD is freezing on you, take a soft, wet cloth and rub the bottom of the DVD, then dry it with a cloth. This works about 50% of the time to stop the freezing. The freezing is almost never for the entire DVD, but a portion of the DVD. Sometimes DVDs are also lost by the Postal Service, you simply report it to the rental company, likely in your queue, it could not be easier. The rental companies record the lost DVDs in your account but that is not a reflection of the renter, rather reflects on the Postal Service. The rental companies understand that discs occasionally get cracked by the Postal Service and that DVDs have glitches. You just report it and they ship you a replacement, sometimes more than just a replacement. I made a couple of posts on rental companies on the Shopping forum on this site after someone else posted a thread. It should be of help to you. Rental Companies One other thing you may want to know, you can't copy a scene from DVD to a Hard Drive or save it without going through a filter. So, if you are thinking of recording video you need to get a filter. I have a DVD recorder with a Hard Drive and it will not copy anything from a player, even my own DVDs without having the signal first go through a filter.

You should really consider VIDEO BOX. They have over 12,000 movies on the site and it can be broken down into different categories like by movie, by scene, by girl, or by studio. You have access to the movies anytime you want to watch them and you can save them in several ways to watch whenever you want. No worrying about waiting for a DVD to show up and no worries about shipping them back. I joined for the first time a few months ago and I think it's great. I've bought and rented fewer DVDs because of it. If you're the type who prefers watch movies on tv they have that covered too. Just buy a ROKU and you'll be able to play scenes on your tv. The movies are DVD quality. The only downside to VIDEO BOX is they don't offer the newest releases and you have to pay extra for certain studios. But there's so much content/studios for their base price that it doesn't bother me at all. Oh yeah...you can download from them too. Plus if you buy a ROKU you'll be able to get about 6 channels of free porn that you won't see from the typical studios that put out DVDs. Thy're all clips and the quality ranges but the majority of it is a pretty good picture. Some clips are short (about 4 minutes) some are longer (some as much as 20 minutes and longer). Each channel probably has over 500 clips.

About the 12,000 movies this sounds like a huge library of films but in actuality it is not. For some people, especially new to viewing adult content it would sound like a treasure box, but if you have been viewing porn for as long as me, and are selective on the type of porn you prefer, it may have little content that is of your taste. I activate and cancel my rental memberships at a number of companies because I have difficulty finding films that are of interest and if you add up all the titles they have combined, at all the companies I have been a member it would likely total a couple hundred thousand. So, if 200,000+ titles is still problematic for me to find titles of interest, I hardly think a 12,000 library would do much for me. SugarDVD does offer unlimited Roku Streaming at no additional cost if you sign up for a membership. So in effect, you can spend less than $20 for a 2 DVD out-at-a-time membership and get the free streaming. I already looked at the available Roku titles and they frankly all look like garbage to be honest.
It's clearly not for everyone. I'm extremely happy with it so I decided to tell the original poster about it so he can check itout and decide for himself. Not everyone shares your preferences.

Agreed Draxxx, thanks for pointing out the service. I'm learning more each time I read threads like this besides offering advice. I'm only posting about my experience and preferences that many may not share.
Look at the prices for used ones on www.adultdvdmarketplace.com They're extremely cheap and border on the cost of rentals. I think the last few I've sold on there went for only about $3-4...

I second that if you decide to purchase any DVDs. They are similar to an Amazon or Ebay in that a lot of what you buy comes from many different sellers who compete with each other to sell their new and used DVDs. You also can have email notifications sent to you on any title of interest when the lowest price is dropped with no obligation.
