Also, I find that a lot of the pages I want to go to don't load; more often than usual. It's weird. Maybe I'm imagining it. Could the modem be going out? [Link] |

| Bill All-Star Member 5334 Posts 6/00 | I recently got a new DVR from DirecTV. I apparently didn't have my old DirecTV receiver connected to the phone line, but the new one is. There was no DSL filter on that line. Two days after getting the new DVR, I went on vacation. When I came home, my Internet connection was really slow and my phone line had some static on it. Because it didn't happen immediately after installing the DVR, it didn't immediately occur to me that it could be the problem. After checking the phone box on the outside of my house, and finding no static, I unplugged equipment one phone line at a time, until I got to the new DVR. After realizing that it was the culprit, I realized that there was no DSL filter on that line. Installing a DSL filter took care of the problem. If you've recently plugged a phone line onto any new equipment, try unplugging it and see if the problem goes away. |
