There seems to be so much talking behind the backs of performers and talk about rumours so ridicolous as they must have happened because a pornstar is just a slutty junkie in the eyes of the mainstream man who has no insight what the business is all about. I'm not in the "loop" so to speak on everything that goes on, but i read a post from a performer where she stated that this site was meant to be a place where people could discuss and talk to the performers themselves but has turned into some kind of ridicolous gossipsite where people talk shit at times. I myself would definetly prefer talking straight to the performers themselves that are active on this site than just sit and guess and write what i've heard might had been going on from someone that told someone something. These people take pride in their profession, and as long as those women you see in videos does it because they want to do it, stays away from drugs which is an easy spiral to end up in, aren't divas just because they're beautiful and pretty much every man on earth wants them but can actually talk to us that like their work, and as long as none of their work hurts themselves or someone else, then i have respect for what they have accomplished and loves to see what they can perform infront of the camera. Sure, i like them as slutty and perverted as possible on screen, but they are people off camera aswell, and most often the sweet kind so back the fuck off and have some gratitude for everything they've done.
I see it like this; if women in the business looks at porn as professional performance and a job, then goes on living their own lifes and respect themselves more than using their bodies as means to make money and does no harm to others or to themselves, i definetly respect them since they are very talented and able within the line of work they've chosen. But if they are junkies or escorts/hookers on their own time and does porn just to make money on what they think is their only talent, then i feel sorry about their self image and think they should just stop doing this and try to find themselves and the respect they should give their own body, because pretty much everyone is worth more than looking at themselves as nothing more than means of pleasure. Women are a beautiful thing and no one should be hurting themself. But for those who can see this as just a job and have the selfrespect they deserve, then they get my respect as well.
I have the upmost respect for everyone in the business today especially the performers, they are great at what they do which is entertaining adults. Pornography is such a huge industry and always manages to succeed in bringing the fans hours upon hours of quality scenes and movies. The women who star in the movies are very beautiful, talented, and do a great job in attempting to connect with fans (the stars on ADT prove that all the time). I say you all make the world a better place and thank you! And..continue to entertain us for years to come.
I think porn performers should be treated , like all people, with respect, and I think it is especially cruel and unfair when some of us who watch porn are so demeaning and offensive toward the performers.

Agreed. Doing what they do on camera isn't all that easy to do. It may not be rocket science, but I know I couldn't do it. Thanks to each and every performer for "laying it all out there" for us fans. World Class Adult Reviews
when your job is using your body in a sexual manner its to be expected that some critics are going to take shots at you. I have insulted jesse jane and amy reid here in this forum on thier look and performance. Now I understand I wa wrong in how I said it and was wrongfor being a dick, which by the way I'm sorry for. But like a chef who is told that his/her food is nasty its not personal per say. There are stars who shouldnt be called stars yet. Some female peformers are immature also and need the negative feedback. BUT there is a line. I admit in my own arrogance and ignorance I have crossed that line also. I think some as I take the sex acts we see personally in a way so that we/I say or act too personally which is uncalled for. Its a business. I know this now. Im not making excuses for myself or anyone else I hope to show some light on the ignorance. Anway Im sorry to have offended. sorry Jesse Jane. Sorry Amy Reid. Sorry to everyone else for dealing with my anal self.
For me I see it like this, you don't have to respect someone in order to be respectful towards them. There is no reason to be mean to someone just because of their job or for many other reasons.
Really? Was this topic really needed? and here? I've seen other forums have way more abuse directed to the performers. I think most people here are respectful, or at least edited themselves to seem that way. . There you go, smh. Edited by - xayhoundb on 7/23/2009 2:44:32 AM
99% of members on this forum treat the talent in a most respectful way which is the way it should be if we want to interact with the people in the industry. Who would want to come on here just to be insulted in order to satisfy somebody's attempt at humour. I think it is a good policy and that is why so many new industry participants are becoming regular posters here.

You're asking a lot if you want me to respect Donnie Long or Marc Wallice.

VERY COOL! So many people are quick to judge. BELIEVE me I know! Many people in my industry are wonderful people just trying to make a living like everyone else. Thank you to those who love, support and understand us:).
This forum is WAAAAAAAAAY more respectful to all the talent involved in porn than every other site out there. Probably why that most of the people in the biz post here instead of other sites.
^ I would echo that! It must be tough being in a job where people will judge you on somewhat of a regular basis. Much respect to everyone involved in porn and porn productions
Not just in porn. Take any forum about any type of entertainment and you're likely to see more disrespect. I'm sure this forum having rules helps immensely, instead of being a free for all.
I respect most of the performers in the biz. Not going to go all into it though. I will say this. Yeah this forum is more respectful than other forums out there, but a lot of the times the respect turns more into extreme ass kissing. A porn girl could shit on a bus full of handicap kids and nuns as it falls from a cliff and some guys would still praise and defend her actions. *****The Dr. of Nasty*****
This board seems very respectful of the talent, which is why I think a lot of the talent posts here. I also don't think the moderators will tolerate much abuse of the talent, so that they continue to post here and drive people to the site who want to interact with the stars. I can't remember which other board I was on but most of the posters referred to the talent as "whore" in just about every post and were very degrading and derogatory in general. They basically made every girl in the business out to be a coke fiend/incest survivor who would be dead of an OD or suicide by age 40. Sure that might fit the bill for a few, but I think a majority of girls defy the stereotype personally.
Well, it's done on public forums like this one (Although at least one other forum is way worse) so I wouldn't necessarily say it's done behind their backs. Usually, when someone makes a comment about a performer or director or whatever, if it warrants a response, they show up and respond personally in pretty short order.Oddly, although there are a large number of porn stars registered, most of the bigger names post rather infrequently. I'm not sure why that is, considering the general etiquette here is to be cordial with them. They can certainly expect brutal honesty from posters on certain other sites. I don't know how many sites they frequent or whether they even care to discuss their work.No argument from me. I'm sure the real life of a porn star is far from glamorous for the most part. But then, a lot of people aren't really "in the loop" so there is a kind of fascination with what goes on with them. I would really prefer to leave their personal lives out of discussion unless they choose to discuss it. Some of them seem happy to while other just don't talk at all or keep it all business. Overall, I think ADT is about as friendly a place for porn stars as you're going to find anywhere. We have the occasional troll who will just say things that are far beyond anything that's acceptable but if they persist, they generally get banned. Some of them come back but they get banned again. Most of the regulars here are either very friendly to talent or they just don't say anything at all.
I believe in respect, and although I am new here I have one thing that bothers me (maybe wrongly -- being new to the forum I may not understand, though I have watched many porn movies in my day). I don't personally like referring to talent as "whores". To me a whore is a $20 prostitute with no teeth that smokes up her earnings in crack or by slamming heroin and as such is a derogatory term. Even an escort that happens to be a porn star is not a whore in my opinion -- if the lady is a relatively clean, attractive person working for a legitimate escort agency, I think that whore is too derogatory a term to address her as (as would be gigolo for a man working for an escort service). Please explain if you disagree, I would welcome your alternate definition of the word whore. I apologize in advance if I offend anyone with my opinion, but in my opinion that is what a forum is for -- and if done respectfully, debate is the pinnacle of what a forum is all about.

It depends on the wh...atever she calls herself. Some hate the word and others considerate it a compliment.

I don’t really judge pornstars as one group of people who all share the same traits, some of them here seem like genuinely interesting nice people some of them seem quite intelligent and a handful of them seem to be rather toxic with almost no redeemable qualities at all. But that sounds exactly like my workplace and everywhere else in the world. People are people. Edited by - wheat on 8/18/2009 12:13:39 AM
I love and appreciate the female talent here. Their beauty and charm amaze me. We men are so lucky to have such beautiful women revealing their wonderful sexuality to us.
(Quote from the Unknown Pervert: It depends on the wh...atever she calls herself. Some hate the word and others considerate it a compliment.) I understand that. If a performer takes whore as a compliment, then it is appropriate. In that case his/her definition is different than mine, as most are not cheap clap-infested hookers (probably none of them).
To me the word hooker conjures up that kind of stereotypical image, but whore doesn't quite have the same negative connotations. Whether it's an acceptable word to use depends on how it's intended and how it's taken. I think there's a difference between the typical use of it in a porn movie and throwing it as an insult. From what I've seen there's a movement among sex workers to reclaim 'whore' as something positive, see Whore-A-Palooza for example.
^ Absolutely. See also the edited collection, Whores and Other Feminists. It's important to understand, though, that as with any "reclaiming" of terms, context is important, and like it or not certain groups have more of a right - or believe they have more of a right - to use the reclaimed word. The same word in another person's mouth can be horribly offensive. I tend to avoid calling sex workers whores, but at the same time would defend a sex worker's use of the word, and have used the term rhetorically. As for porn stars, I always find it interesting when people defensively make a distinction between "prostitute," "porn star" etc. I absolutely believe there are important distinctions within the sex industry (and within each distinction), but I inwardly cringe when people make hierarchical distinctions, usually based on class. Oh, and for the record (as if I needed to say it) I adore, respect, and look up to so many men and women who perform in this industry. I could name specific performers (or, rather, auteurs) who have initiated significant transitions in my life, not to mention intellectual stimuli. Ladies, gentlemen, you are appreciated.
