I do not doubt that Mark Wood is all the wonderful things that his admirers and fans say he is. He seems like a nice enough guy. I'm sure he's a reliable performer who's agreeable to the girls, can always get it up, and can cum on command. I'm sure he's a director's dream. He seems versatile enough to be effective in most porn settings. And he seems to like his job. I have no issues with his appearance, and I have no idea who his wife is. But when it comes to porn performance, with respect to on-camera excitement, heat, and intensity, I have fallen asleep to more Mark Wood scenes than any other male performer not named John E. Depth or Brian Pumper. I've seen a lot of gonzo porn which means I've seen a lot of Mark Wood, and I'm secure in my assessment. Most of the sex scenes I've observed involving Wood were tepid and non-thrilling, and a few were down right woodkills. I spent a lot of money last year in the hopes I would see someone, ANYONE, really work out Alexis Texas as her career progressed. I saw Mark Wood fuck her in at least four different scenes. As far as I'm concerned, the next time he ravishes her will be the first. All the scenes were disappointing from an excite-o-meter standpoint. Understand, I'm not necessarally looking for someone who "hate fucks", "grudge fucks", or otherwise disrespects his female partners. Nor am I looking for a guy whom you can tell just from casual observation, is an asshole or doesn't like the girls. But for my porn enjoyment, I do want a male performer who brings a certain amount of aggressiveness and enthusiasm to the proceedings that Wood just doesn't do for me. He fucks the girls, hits all the marks, and doesn't try to make himself the star of the show, but in the end, for me the "stroke" factor just is not there. This is all subjective and a matter of opinion, and it's not really about, "well, you should see him in THIS scene", or "you should see him in THAT scene". I've seen enough of his scenes to form my opinion. And I don't think a leopard really changes his spots. I think that it may just be a matter of personality, demeanor, and style, and Wood's just doesn't appeal to me. And that's not good or bad, just a personal view. It's funny, the perfomer whom I find Mark Wood most similar to, as far as how their performances hit me, is Sean Michaels. It's obvious that they are both porn veterans, true professionals who know their craft, with impressive bodies of work, and solid reputations. And they each have a distinct style in their work. They know what they are doing. And as a porn fan in general, I respect and appreciate that. But I don't look forward to seeing either of them, and am always disappointed to find them paired with one of my favorite starlets. Their performances always seem sort of passive and re-active, and they just don't generate the passion that I'm looking for. My two cents, let the brick throwing begin. BSD [Link] |
