Reading recently that Michael Stefano has retired from the business, how easy is it to adjust to a life without porn shoots. After having a constant stream of hot babes to fuck, it must be hard to switch off the desire to fuck different hot girls every few days. He's absolutely still around. Don't know if he's performing, but he made that switch to behind-the-camera quite awhile back. His company Evasive Angles hasn't bit the dust. It's too bad when you hear that a performer has returned to civilian life and are working as a waitress or what-have-you. Not that there's anything wrong with working that kind of job, it's just too bad they didn't save enough of their money from porn to not have to work that kind of job.
I think the majority that retire usually wind up as a producer or director. Usually they have some sort of background role. You do hope that everyone has an exit plan. Chris Cannon (whose work has slowed down considerably over the last couple of years) was bemoaning not preparing either. You guys make it sound like it's so awful. Considering the difficulty of shooting, all the starting and stopping, constantly having to get it up then stopping, having to cum on demand, pull out, get the condom off and pop in the right spot, would take all the fun out of fucking a hot girl. Not to mention all the stupid angles that look painful and uncomfortable but have to be done because god forbid if we don't get that wide open penetration shot. But with the advent of gonzo movies and digital video capture, it certainly changed things. Before the downturn, the amount of movies released each week was phenomenal, most were gonzo type movies with 5 or 6 scenes. I never said otherwise, what I said was it was a shame that they didn't take advantage of the money they made while doing porn to not have to return to that kind of work.
Michael Stefano says in the ADT Podcast interview that he at that point wasn't as horny anymore, didn't have to fuck every single day. If not, they find a job and earn a wage and go from there. In terms of adjusting to new sexual practices in their personal life I have no idea. I would guess it's not all that difficult. Tony T. is not retired. He is retired as a performer. But he has not left the biz. He now does BTS work as a cameraman/director. I'm assuming that this is what many guys in porn do. Gone are the days when being in front of the camera was the only job available for porn actors. Now, a guy can decide to no longer perform, but still be involved in the industry in many other ways. Like in any other industry, a large part of success is in who you know. If you make the right connections, you can probably have successful work in the porn industry forever. Just because you haven't seen guys in front of the camera in a while doesn't mean they're not still in the industry in some aspect.
