As a fan of the golden era of adult film making I love finding the locations where the action happened.
These locations is from the film Revenge And Punishment, made in New York and directed by Joe Davian around 1977.
A director shrouded in mystery which I would love to learn more about it if anyone has any information.
Not the most exiting locations but I still find it amusing to see where Davian and his crew shot this film back in the day.

Nice then-and-now photo comparison! The 24th St. location -- public housing?

Great stuff!
Davian was apparently a survivor of the holocaust with a number tattoo. Bill Landis reported this at first at I doubted it but some performers who shot films woth him confirmed it.

Glad you guys like it!
Good to hear I am not the only one interested in old locations.
I have also heard the story about his holocaust tattoo, and that is quite amazing.
Sadly that is about the only thing anyone remembers about him, but that sure is a thing people would remember.
Years ago in the now defunct dvdmaniacs forum I asked Carter Stevens how it was working with him.
He replied that he did not remember anything special about him, he was just a nice and competent guy behind the camera.
I think Davian made several good pictures, and are a somewhat overlooked director.
He had good production values in Girls U.S.A, and Manhattan Mistress was classy.
On the more sleazier side Domination Blue and Appointment With Agony stands out.
Appointment With Agony is in my opinion is one of the roughest and nastiest of the whole 70's porn scene.
Maybe the whole fascination is because we do not know anything about him.
He was in New York at that time, made some really distinct films that still lives after 40 years.
Then he just wanished from the face of the earth around 1980.

He was briefly business partners with Joe Gage and his wife (which is why GIRLS USA shares a soundtrack with HEATSTROKE). Next time I have a reason to chat with Gage, I'll ask him if he has any info on Davian's background.

It would be great to learn more John. I wonder if Rialto Report have had any luck, I assume they have made some efforts.
I agree about Appointment with Agony. Truly unsettling. So many of his films are only available in very rough shape it would be nice to see them released by VS to get a better sense of how they look.

Finished reading the piece and about the last thing I expected was to find out was that Davian was a hammer throwing coach. Good to finally get the Death Camp tattoo rumour definitively refuted, the only reason I gave it any credence was because of the quote from Vaness Del Rio you'll find in the article.

@Maxrenn did you share your location photos with the Rialto folks? I saw them note several of the locations in their piece.

Yea this was an interresting read, glad we finally got to know the true story.
And I totally agree with you that finding out Davian was a hammer throwing coach was the last thing I would have thought!

I never shared any location photos with them, but seems like somebody must have seen them.
