The first to be filmed (but the last released) in Bjorn's Hungarian trilogy ("Hungary for Men," "The Vampire of Budapest" and "Comrades in Arms"), "Hungary for Men" is a quaint little story inspired by traditional fairy tales (as Bjorn explains in the interesting commentary that accompanies the slide-show on this DVD). It has a little Hansel & Gretel mixed in with some romance -- and a lot of bumping, grinding and cum-shots.

Brunet Akos (who went on to a career with Falcon and other studios) has driven off into a field to make out with Tibor, who's a cute young brown-haired guy with downy fuzz on his chest. Tibor is also a bad boy. After they romantically drink some wine and fall asleep in the weeds, Tibor sneaks away, steals Akos' car, and drives off, throwing his clothes out the window. Poor Akos -- seduced and abandoned. Considering his car was some crappy rusting Trabant, maybe he should thank Tibor. This being rural Hungary, however, the lift is by horse cart, and they take him to the nearest farm to have sex in the barn.

It's an intelligent and articulate monologue in which Bjorn reminisces about some of the trials and tribulations of filming in rural Hungary. The movie is divided into thirteen chapters, which makes it easier to go to your favorite part. The men, while fit and muscular, tend to be slightly less beefy than in some of Bjorn's later features, so if you like 'em younger and slender, this one's for you. "Hungary for Men" well represents the usual combination of intense sensuality and hot action (and gallons of cum) that always characterize Bjorn's work.

"Comrades in Arms" is a touching story, really -- just loaded with ironic nostalgia for the passing of the Soviet Union. Our story starts as adorable Alexei Gromoff enters a grand railroad station. The subtitle states, "Budapest, 1996." He's in full Red Army garb -- never mind that the Red Army ceased to exist several years earlier. He and his pals are just now departing their host country, and they're reminiscing over all the fun times they had. (You know, we've always heard that life as an occupying military force is just one big orgy.)

One of Alexei's Russian buddies is Marko Nagy, whose authoritarian warnings against trespassing to cute brunet Lajos Magyar and fashion-model-ish Joska Lenta result in his being lured to a hunting lodge for fucking and sucking. We know it's a hunting lodge because it's a taxidermist's dream: stuffed birds and animal heads everywhere. Kind of creepy. But all those antlers have brought out the horns in our heroes, as Joska drops Lajos' drawers for Marko's easy entry before he even has a chance to get his uniform off. The video quality of the DVD is excellent -- very useful since Bjorn's photography and lighting are so superlative. There's not a lot of extras -- just some still photos available as either a slide-show or individually. But when you're in the mood for Alexei Gromoff at his best -- or if you're into allegories of the socialist workers' paradise as gay sex orgy -- head directly for "Comrades in Arms."

First of all, this is one of those videos that offer no clue as to which performer is which. So forgive us if we can't identify everyone. Aside from that little flaw, it's another one of Bjorn's best, his first released (but not the first filmed) in the Hungary series from 1995-96.

The DVD slide-show includes an extensive director's commentary. With an auteur director like Bjorn, this feature should be a required element of his DVDs. It's beautifully written and highly informative. We actually recommend listening to it before watching the movie -- that's how interesting it is (it will enhance your enjoyment of the feature). Each scene is also broken up in the menu so that there's a total of nine chapters, making it easier to jump around than in the average porno DVD; but there are no additional features. Who needs them? It's a yummy Hungarian goulash of hot men fucking and sucking like crazy, with the usual Bjorn panache and style (and dozens of cum-shots).

As Bjorn says in the commentary, the story is inspired by the vampire legends of Transylvania (originally part of Hungary) and the sexy vampire stories of Anne Rice. Blond hunk Marko Nagy plays the vampire, cursed to suck the blood (and cocks) of handsome young men throughout the ages. If it wasn't for the blood part, it wouldn't be much of a curse. But our story starts with a brown-haired cutie being gang-banged by four guys who grab him in an alley. Surprise! It turns out to be a perverse birthday present, including Hungarian staple Akos Matyas as one of the birthday boy's pals. The initial group ass-pounding then turns into a more reciprocal sex-fest. A beefy guy with clipped chest hair is a particular standout. His muscles look particularly good while he bottoms side-by-side with Akos. In a bit of ominous foreshadowing, however, their revels are interrupted by a strange noise, and they joke that maybe it's a vampire. (Haven't they ever seen a slasher movie? Don't they know this is just asking for trouble?)

Speaking of beef (you know -- back up there, five sentences back), Thomas Kruc is quite a chunk of meat himself (we learn in the commentary he's named after a famous Hollywood star he supposedly resembles -- guess who?). He and another stud who's almost as beefy duck into a dark abandoned building for a quick exchange of blowjobs, not knowing they're observed by the deadly vampire -- who wears sunglasses. Is this supposed to protect him from the sunlight or something? He ultimately reveals himself to them by removing the sunglasses and showing his bizarre yellow cat eyes. Somebody sprung for some serious props here -- contact lenses and everything. Upon seeing this sight, our two studs squeal and run. (We guess they're not all that butch when push comes to shove.) Being a supernatural creature has its advantages, however. Marko miraculously appears on the stairs in front of them, pants off and cock at attention. He wags his dick at them as he summons them down the stairs to him. This seems to have a hypnotic effect (it always works on the Emperor), and they are immediately in his thrall. Much fucking and sucking ensues, with Marko topping both Hungarian hotties. Thomas' huge thighs and muscle butt are quite a sight. After many cum-shots, it's time for dessert, and Marko bites his victims. More expensive props here-nice fangs and very convincing blood oozing down Thomas' neck. And now he's a vampire as well, since he's wearing the cat-eye contacts and licking his lips, just like his new boss Marko.

Scouting scenic, cloudy Budapest for his next victim, Marko spies slender young Arpad Miklos. Part of his seduction technique is inspiring a wet dream in which he mysteriously appears to Arpad in bed, rims him, and shoots all over his ass. Oh, yeah -- Arpad cums, too. After all, it's HIS wet dream. Afterwards, Marko stalks Arpad all over Budapest, glaring at him through his dark sunglasses and wearing a trendy, all-black outfit. He looks like some serious Eurotrash.

Arpad makes his way to a decaying old Turkish bath, which seems to be more of a bathhouse in the gay western tradition, since guys are having sex all over the place. After observing a number of small group scenes, he wades into a big pool under a spectacular stone dome held up by squinches (imperial vocabulary of the day). It's all very old, historic, and distressed looking with peeling paint and crumbling stonework. More guys are having sex there, but as soon as Arpad enters, they descend on him like roaches. What follows is possibly Bjorn's most complex and messy orgy -- messy in that it seems slightly less orchestrated and more frantic than his other orgy scenes. There's at least ten different guys involved, and more cum-shots than you'd care to count. Arpad gets quite a few dicks up his ass, which he seems to enjoy. Thomas is there -- sans the cat-eye lenses he sported earlier -- as well as that other Hungarian staple, Attila Sipos (still in his pre-bodybuilder days). There are some pretty interesting and bizarre configurations of flesh. It's like vampire Twister, with sex.

Somehow, Arpad is left unfulfilled despite his multiple ejaculations, as we can guess when we see him staring mournfully out of his apartment window. When he dozes off, here comes Marko, who, true to form, hypnotizes him with his cat eyes and waving penis. As a vampire, Marko seems a little out of kilter as he spends much of his time sucking Arpad's ass rather than his neck. But after pounding his ass hard (and several cum-shots later) Marko eats his own cum, licking his way up Arpad's back until he reaches the neck -- at which point he has his yellow cat eyes and fangs again. But Arpad is cut from different cloth than his fellow Hungarians -- he begs Marko to make him a vampire so they can be together always. "I love you," he says. Presto, change-o! Just like Sleeping Beauty, the love of a good man is all Marko needs to break the spell, and he's not a vampire anymore. And they all lived happily every after.

So throw away your crosses and garlic and head to Hungary. Maybe you'll get lucky.
