| PornDirector Member 14 Posts 9/13 | I was browsing the reviews on AdultDVDTalk... https://www.adultdvdtalk.com/reviews/all And I notice a lot of reviews are 3 to 3 1/2 stars. Some are 4 stars and very few are 4 1/2 to 5 stars. So what makes something 5 stars? What does that porno DVD have that other porno DVDs are lacking? What is their secret? | pornorobot Member 27 Posts 9/13 | 3 to 3 1/2 Reason 1: A few attractive girls but nothing fresh. By nothing fresh I mean the same cookie cutter sex positions shot all nude on a couch or bed that is like 90% of the other scenes out there. You get the feeling of I've seen this before and it gets boring fast. You rate it a 3 to 3 1/2 because it's not bad if you haven't seen the other 10 or so all nude scenes with the exact same pornstar doing the exact same positions. Solution: Something as simple as wearing stockings, long socks, a skirt during sex, something colorful, having some dirty talk could resolve this. Anything that makes the scenes one of a kind where you feel like, nobody has done a scene like this before, I'm watching something fresh/new. Reason 2: A few attractive girls but bad angles that you can't get off to. Typically a porno that I can get off to, I'd rate at least a 4. In the past I might rent 8 DVDs from BUSH DVD and only 1 got me off. It was above average. So whenever I see a rating that is 3 to 3 1/2 on Adult DVD Talk, I usually assume it didn't get them off. That usually means bad angles or a few good angles that weren't held long enough to enjoy. Because when you get off, you're like WOW! That was hot! And the last thing you do is rate it 3 stars. So these DVDs to put it frankly are not getting people off. This is very subjective because everyone likes different angles. But whatever angles a director chooses, he needs to commit to holding them long enough so whoever is watching it can get off to it from the start of that angle until the end of it. I estimate around 1-2 minutes on a solid angle for most people. Most directors don't commit like that and essentially lose everyone by trying to win everyone over with their 15 poorly held angles in a porn shoot. No shaky camera, no extreme movement back and forth up and down, no pulling out for a blowjob or slowing down. Just solid pounding for a minute or two in that position. Then move to the next. The way directors should look at it, is "does this position get you off? No? Okay how about this one?" Eventually one of those angles will be the one that gets a particular viewer off. That's how you play to all the different tastes in angles. Solution: They should pick at least 5 very solid positions that would get them off as a viewer and shoot them. It seems like most directors shoot it freestyle and don't plan none of the sex position/angles out. So when the sex starts they get the crappy side angle from a distance. Or the crappy extreme close up angle. Or the crappy under the ass of the guy angle. Real directing involves positioning them perfectly for the camera then begin filming the sex. Reason 3: Feeling like you were cheated a scene or two. If the average porno DVD has around 4-5 scenes on it and 1-2 of those scenes are of unattractive girls, or non-sex solo scenes, or a weak lesbian scene, many viewers will feel like they were robbed of what could have been better use of space on the DVD. This always brings the quality of a DVD down and then means all the other scenes got to be much hotter. A lot of older porn DVDs will add that one infamous scene of a really ugly girl. Or a girl with incredibly bad face or genital acne. Or bad bruises all over her body/or something else really off putting about her. Solution: If you want a higher DVD rating, you're better off not mixing in that scene. It's like a dick tease seeing a beautiful girl you want to see fucked who isn't. It's torture. And if a girl is very unattractive, it leads to an instant fast forward/skip that makes the DVD go by far quicker. Mentally we notice the difference and we feel cheated. I hate to say it but I'd almost rather not see it at all. If you're hurting that much on DVD space, extend your better scenes out longer with editing rather than adding a really bad scene that most people including yourself can't get off to. You can try to make up for it by adding more scenes to the DVD but you put yourself at a disadvantage where they have to be even hotter at that point. Reason 4: Sex scenes that are too short to get off to. This can come from a build up that is far too long. I watched a porno recently that had an 18 minute build up and then 10 minutes of actual boy/girl sex. I don't count the opening blow job or oral on the girl as sex because who gets off to that? It's very rare, you wait until the penetration. So if we finally get to the sex and it's only 5-10 minutes, then the pressure is even higher to make it really amazing and it usually never is. This is also common with companies that put 6-10 scenes on a DVD. They think by putting more girls on it, they'll get a higher rating and sometimes they do. But usually all the sex scenes are lacking. They appeal to the guys who can get off in 30 seconds to a porno scene and that moves on to whatever else. But to the hardcore porno fans out there who have seen a lot of porn and buy porn, these scenes rarely offer enough. They are nice to own and have if you're a reviewer getting a free copy, just to have a quantity of more scenes, but as a buyer or renter, they typically don't get you off. Solution: If you're going to put in a long opening tease sequence it has got to be so hot that it alone can almost get someone off. If you watch it and think I can't get off to this, you need to cut it down significantly and extend the sex. Or if you're going to put 6 scenes on a DVD, you need to do a 2 disc set and shoot them like you would any other full scene. Edited by - pornorobot on 9/9/2013 9:12:17 PM |
| pornorobot Member 27 Posts 9/13 | 3 stars = a few attractive girls, didn't get me off 3 1/2 stars = a few attractive girls, almost got me off 4 stars = attractive girls, at least one scene got me off 4 1/2 stars = attractive girls, one scene really got me off or one got me off and others were close 5 stars = attractive girls, two or more more scenes got me off (rare for a single DVD) So a 5 star rating porno DVD is basically one where you get off to a scene and can't finish reviewing it. You got to go back and watch it again and you see another scene that almost makes you cum. Then you watch another and it almost makes you cum. It's basically hard to review it because it's so hot. It has multiple scenes that get you off. Edited by - pornorobot on 9/9/2013 9:01:36 PM |

| pornorobot Member 27 Posts 9/13 | I just searched your reviews stinkfist and noticed you've rated a few movies 4 1/2 stars but I didn't see any rated 5 stars. https://www.adultdvdtalk.com/reviewer/stinkfist/sort-6 What would it take for a movie to get a 5 star rating from you? |
| pornorobot Member 27 Posts 9/13 | When I was going through my Teagan phase back in the day, I would buy around 5-10 of her DVDs and I rented close to 20 of her DVDs. Not all of her scenes got me off, but the ones that did, I would go back and watch them again and again as my go to porno scene if nothing else was working. So if she was in the porno and it got me off, and I would have rated it a 4 star, I'd rate it easily 4 1/2 stars. She'd get a 1/2 star bump because she really got me off. But it's the same if it was some new girl I discovered that really got me off and that I was really into. I think for the 5 star rating, there has to be at least 2 scenes that get me off to get that rating. Usually if there are 2, it's some damn good directing and cast selection. And if that is the case, it could even end up being 3-4 scenes that get me off on one DVD. Where I literally can get off to any scene on the DVD. Edited by - pornorobot on 9/9/2013 10:04:22 PM |
