To all who submit reviews...

We are about to add a preview button so you can see what your review will look like before submitting it. Many of you are going to wonder why it doesn't look the same as your current reviews. This is because I often fix the html and line breaks in reviews. Here's some tips for controlling what your review looks like...

How To Format Text in HTML

Bold: enclose your text with and
Example: This is bold text. = This is bold text.

Italic: enclose your text with and
Example: This is italic text. = This is italic text.

Underline: enclose your text with and.
Example: This is underline text. = This is underline text.

Line Breaks: use
for a paragraph (double line break)
use
for a single line break

Links:
enclose your text with
[invalid URL removed]text
Example:
Take me to [invalid URL removed]Adult DVD Talk Home
= Take me to Adult DVD Talk Home.

Please not that the code used in the forum does not work in the review box . The forum code uses these [ ], html uses < >

Please post questions you may have about formatting reviews here. I'm sure a lot of people have similar questions so I'd like to take care of them all at once.

You do not have to put any html in your review. Just preview it first (when the functionality is there) to make sure the paragraphs are where you want them.

Thank you all for the effort you put into reviews. Great to see new reviewers all the time.

Will I need to use
for my line breaks or
for a new paragraph?

Otherwise, looks simple.

Since I don't use bolds, italics, or undelining.

And thanks to Drew, I learned how to include my e-mail for comments, questions, complaints.

You can use either a break (
) or a paragraph tag (
) A
is equal to two BRs. i.e.
=


If you don't use any html then the formatting will be handled automatically for you.

A brief review question (haven't fully checked out the new stuff yet). Do you have any preferences on how to identify performers who have numerous different names? It's just gotta be impossible trying to identify one out of the countless similsrly names women out there

scipio - if it does not detect a < it will automatically insert the line breaks. so, yes, all or nothing on the html.

meridian - the performer data written in reviews is not part of our database. so how you spell their names is up to you.

While I don't mind fixing the html on reviews, someone who doesn't know html is going to be helping me approve reviews. I just want to make sure that everyone's reviews look how they want them to look.

I agree Meridian, it can be fun sometimes (with Rocco's movies being the worst to try and indentify people). Unless a star has been under a name for a while, I normally use the name that's listed on the box.

As an example, Mirage / Briana Banks:
New titles, no problem, most people know her as Briana Banks.
If I'm reviewing one of her older titles where she's listed as Mirage but most people now know her as Briana, I'll normally list her as Briana Banks (listed here as Mirage).
If I was reviewing something when she just changed names I often list it as Briana Banks (who many might know as Mirage).

It can be fun sometimes since some porn stars seem to change names more often than some people change underwear. It's not something I'd worry about too much, but it's great to see you showing care about your reviews.

The preview button is a great idea.

I normally add formatting to my reviews anyway but now I can check the appearance before I post.

Steph/Drew are there any plans in the pipeline to allow a reviewer to update old reviews?

I also like this option! It might be a bit more work for Steph and Drew, to have to re-approve people's reviews over and over, but I can think of several typos and occasional performer mis-IDs in a couple of my (few) reviews I'd like to go back and fix.

When we add the reviewer profile features there will also be a way to edit your reviews. The problem with having edit capabilities in the current system is there's no way to authenticate a user as the author of a particular review. We could end up having one reviewer modifying another's review which could be disastrous.

Well, I just submitted a review for the first time using the new formatting, it went great.

I had to go back a couple of times, to edit, but once I got a handle on it, it went very smoothly.

I like that you thank the reviewer for submitting the review, so...

I dunno if I like this new preview thing. Out of the last three or four reviews I've submitted I've found some minor little thing that screws up a bunch of my review twice. I keep thinking "Man. This was a lot nicer when Steph had to take care of this!".

Other than that, Great job Steph and Drew, and like BIGmike said, Thank You since you guys put in a lot more work here than we do.
