What was going on?
I really wish I understood she was in that dark of a place. I feel like the industry let her down. She seemingly was an escort now and struggling for money with lots of issues and nobody was interested in helping her at all with shoots or scenes.
^ That plus it was mentioned she got a lot of online criticism. There are far too many twisted people who seemingly exist to be cruel to people they don't really know.
This is so sad, partly because it's not unexpected. It was quite awful to see someone decline like that. I always liked her as a performer and hoped she would overcome her various issues. RIP
This is sad to hear. From what I could see, she had a tough life and things were never easy. The death of her mother not too long ago was a blow I'm sure she could never fully absorb. And then something weird happened with her dog and she was primed to find herself in a crisis situation. And yes, she struggled with addiction, which has nothing to do with one's character or worth. Unfortunately (for all of us) people can be cruel. There was a lot of online interaction I saw on twitter where dudes were intent on making comments they knew would hurt her,. Others were weirdly delighted by her obvious struggles. Ya, sure, she was hustling for money sometimes, but it was obvious to anyone with half a brain that she was battling serious demons. Between those demons and the pandemic, it must have been tough to make/keep money, which I'm sure made things worse. I think we underestimate the mental toll it must take when you feel like you have to be hustling for money all day every day and feeling like your body is the only tool you ever have at your disposal to earn income, whether it be just to live or to feed an addiction or whatever. It looked like her life had become one big chaos machine. That must have felt so grown so damn exhausting for her over the years.
Respect to all the women out there hustling and just trying to survive. Hopefully we can better save the next one in crisis before it's too late.
I was deeply saddened when I heard about her passing. When I first met Dakota at eXXXotica Ft. Lauderdale 2014, she was only 19 and had been in the industry for less than a year. She was warm, friendly and seemed to have a great future in front of her. I genuinely believed she would gone on to be a big star in the industry. Tragically, like so many girls before her, she got trapped in the cycle of addiction, which was exploited by a series of manipulative and abusive suitcase pimp boyfriends.
The last time I saw her was at eXXXotica Miami 2018 where she looked as though she was doing much better and seemed to be getting her life & career back on track. Sadly, the death of her mother and multiple relapses of her addiction derailed her attempts at a comeback.
I just hope that now that Dakota is no longer with us, she has finally found the peace that eluded her in life.

Normally when this happens or if a celeb dies I may feel a little sad, but this one bothers me way more than the others... First off, I talked to her before she did mainstream porn yet (while she was still bitchassfuckingfuck and was known even then her name was [mod edit: no real names here please]) and she was the first girl on CB I talked to or even watched, I think. She actually blocked me on twitter and then was nice back then and undid it. lol. Second, it's just flat sad how people treated her on social media, many of whom are probably here. It was obvious she was nice and just had probs going on.
It just feels really weird when someone whose twitter you pay attention to regularly is suddenly gone right after seeming ok. And really if she hadn't gone into mainstream porn, maybe it wouldn't have happened. Yeah, she had the family history, but I think when on CB in the beginning she didn't do hardcore drugs and obviously being in the porn industry just made it easy for people to get her into that crap. I hope her younger sister managed to not go down that road...

People on twitter were horrible to her. I understand people mad that she was bad about not getting customs done on time, but still that isn't the only ones who were mad at her... A lot of it was people just mocking her drug addiction issues and mocked her for asking for money a lot, when obviously she had no choice. She "seemed" to be able to not let those people get to her, but I'm sure it contributed at least somewhat to her situation. What's sad too is if she did have supportive people around her, maybe she'd have gotten through it better.
I have not been following her career and am not aware of the Twitter harassment , but I am reminded of the famous busty star who commited suicide after being harassed over comments about homosexuals + probably some trauma after having being abused on set ( paraphrasing ... )
Some of these stone-hearted Twitter-users should have become aware by now that they can be playing with lives . ( I dare to say that some get also a kick out of it ): ]

yeah, it's sad how people act on social media and think it's cool. That said, in this case I doubt that is exactly what happened. She has been having all kinds of money issues lately and the day before she died she said she was mad because someone stole $600 from her. I kind of even doubt she died on purpose, but who knows. But no matter what, her mindset had to be affected by some of those people and could have still been a piece of it.
Also, at least she was really trying. It's so depressing...
There's no incentive for porn agents/producers to do that especially when there's a steady stream of fresh faced 18 year girls rolling into San Fernando valley and Miami regularly.

What's more sadder of this whole event is seeing Dakota's family trying to raise Funds for her burial. Where's all these Porn companies she made RICH? It's sad that another young woman has passed away. I always hoped that she would leave the industry because it was not a good mix and I feared reading that she had passed away in the way that she did.
Didn't realize/justify her flashing her boobs at a George Floyd memorial event a few weeks ago, and seems like the shaming/bullying she received by even her industry peers contributed to her demise.
Nevertheless she was one of my favorites & I don't want to remember her by that one incident.
Why should the porn companies be doing anything? They book these women as contractors & pay them a flat rate, it isn't their fault if the women/guys have drug addictions, mental health problems etc, blow all their cash on the high life & overdose, or take their own life-this happens to people in every walk of life & companies don't usually cover their employees or subcontractors funeral costs.

^You do realize that a person who is already in a bad place might be triggered into doing something terrible by what they read about themselves online. No offense but what do you know about being attacked on social media? Do you have a high enough social media profile that it's common for people to complain about you on your social media platforms? It's easy for us to write about how people who are online should have a bigger backbone but unless we are one of those people than maybe we should just abstain from saying things like that.
You really ought to read your own post and see the self-contradiction.
We may have the luxury of not taking to heart what a few idiots on social media might say but it is foolish to imply everybody deals with things the same way.
Some mental health issues cloud the better judgement and reasoning of some people so one can react far more dramatically to even a hair trigger. Why would that clouded judgement somehow stop someone taking their own life?
I'm not saying the harassment and criticism did or didn't contribute to Dakota's death but I don't think some empathy on your part would go amiss.
Well, when it comes to controversial subjects in general the "Pro" arguments, if you will, are to: Turn off the device, change the channel, don't listen, etc etc!
The only solution is not to read what people say online! It's really easy. I went to the beach yesterday and didn't pick up my phone once.
I will have empathy with anybody who takes their own life. Just pointing out that blaming it 100% on social media trolls is a cop-out. I would also say that if you don't want a backlash, or cannot handle it then don't post things that you know full well are going to wind people up & get a response- like flashing your tits at a memorial of the BLM cancel brigades sacred cow, or ranting about crossovers/trans performers. If you can't take the heat then don't turn the pot up to 10 & stoke it.
