In a disturbing coincidence, while at IAFD, I learned that a contemporary of Tamara's who I also admired, Rebecca Steele, had died, also AIDS related. This was a year and a half ago. Fuckin' AIDS. Click to expand According to Excalibur (which is the only place that I've seen this information) she didn't catch HIV from her years as an adult actress and was out of the business for about 6 years when she was initially infected. A friend of the family states that she contracted HIV in 1998 from an ex-boyfriend who supposedly was a heroin addict. Click to expand With proper treatment, people can live a very long time with HIV. Once that person has AIDS, their life expectancy is much shorter. "Proper treatment" is very expensive. If she was hanging around with heroin addicts, my guess is that she probably wasn't able to afford "proper treatment". [Link]

This reminds me of the reports concerning Lisa de Leeuw's alleged demise. One web site passed this off as fact, even though neither AVN nor Vivid Video (of which Lisa was a co-founder) have come across any solid information regarding her death. In support of this claim, an XXX-rated magazine called "Video View" mentioned Richard Pacheco as having cited her death as a warning to the industry that it had better clean up its act on safe sex issues. But when I contacted Pacheco through a mutual acquaintance (Richard Freeman of the Batteries Not Included newsletter), he denied ever having mentioned her name and knowing anything of her status. Unless people feel a need to believe the worst about the industry because it sounds hip to be cynical, folks should do some further fact-checking before pronouncing the death sentence. [Link]

Click to expand Hi,IAFD is good, very good and I'll even say is getting better all the time especially with distant porn stars filmographies, and true not everything is perfect. None of the sites are perfect meaning the ones I go to for quick info: IAFD, IMDB, IBDB, Wikipedia etc. And of course when I go to one sight I do my best to cross reference others for meaningful source. Open sites like IMDB & Wikipedia mean well and in theory really work if people actually took the time to double check info they submit. But that openness can be subject to wrong doing by vandals especially with Wikipedia where intentional erroneous info can wreck what is potentially a good entry. On the other hand IAFD itself can quote info from other sites. For instance on porn star Solveig's date of birth. IAFD was the site I had gone to first for the info but nothing was listed. So I looked her up on IMDb and it was only partially entered missing the year. Nevertheless the date info entered was wrong altogether. So yours truly took some time out and did some searching for a credible source on Solveig's date of birth and found it listed of all places on a website pertaining to AVN and this looked legit. So I made the entry to IMDB and the corrected date was entered and is up now. A few minutes ago I looked up Solveig's dob on IAFD and see that the quoted IMDB correction is now listed at IAFD. Aside from the undeniable resemblance (Apart from aging, obviously!), it also seems odd to me that her supposed 'Find a Grave' page has no photo of an actual Grave. It also has ridiculously few signatures, and wasn't added until more than a year after Tamara had supposedly died. Perhaps most incriminating of all though is that her Porn name was entered instead of the name she was born with, which a family member would have likely done.
