Well, this sucks. If any of you stream porn from your Roku device, you have until March of 2022 to enjoy it. They've decided to remove all private/non certified (porn) channels.

See, that is what's funny to me. Yes, there is porn, but it's invite only and never been advertised. I guess that is why OF also dropped porn. I had Pornhub on Roku for a while, but it wasn't good. They probably just found it all to be terrible and want to keep investors happy.

Roku is not the only streaming device.

That's true, but if they don't have a partnership with your membership site you won't be streaming content.

I was very annoyed when I heard this news. Roku is the way I stream porn. I was kinda surprised to hear the news because the way Roku streams their porn channels you have to go out of your way to find it and it's in a totally different section of their platform that most people don't probably know exists. It's not like a person could just stumble across it. I don't understand the need for them to eliminate it. I guess I have a couple of months to figure out an alternative. I don't like watching porn on a computer.

Actually when I first discovered PORNHUB on Roku I thought it was great. However over time it got worse as they started taking down lots of content over time. Then when the had their massive purge a year or so ago the service to a big dip in content and navigation. I hardly watch it now. It's not horrible but nowhere as good as it was. I signed up to Adult Empire a few months ago and like it quite a bit.

That may be part of why they are stopping the service( I certainly have never stumbled on any way to stream porn on my Roku) but I suspect it's more that most porn studios don't want to pay Roku to use their streaming platform. I certainly do the same if I owned a porn site and while I'm sure a big screen TV is a great way to watch porn most people already have other methods that work quite well.

No. The porn companies don't want to leave Roku. Roku seems to be eliminating the Beta testing aspect/part of their service (or at least public access to it). As it stands now if a company wants to create a channel they can develop it in Beta and if you load the access code on the Roku site you'd be able to stream the content. I think this was originally made to allow content creators to build and test run a channel to work out any bugs and if it's a successful run they could possibly become a "real" public channel to be offered official channel selection. The majority of the stuff being developed in Beta are niche channels that not many people will stream. The most watched channels there are probably the porn channels. I haven't checked lately but there's about 15 or so porn streaming channels in the Beta section. The first channel I subscribed to was Fyre.tv. For years I had Videobox. These days I have AEBN.net, PORNHUB, and Adult Empire. Some of the other channels available are Naughty America, BANG, Score, VIVID and others I can't remember or am unfamiliar with. There's speculation that the reason for eliminating the Beta section is to get rid of the porn because really there's no strong reason to do so otherwise because there's not much going on in that section. I was surprised that more porn studios didn't stream through Roku.

The same ones extolling the virtues of limited government and personal freedom no doubt campaigned to make this happen.

I've never tried streaming any porn content on my Roku TV, so I'm curious what the distinction is between non-certified & certified channels. I have subscriptions to Girlfriends Films & Adult Time, and they both are constantly promoting the fact that you can stream their content on Roku devices. I wonder if they fall under the "certified" umbrella.

Because it wasn't official, it was a hack used by pirate sports streaming channels. Pirates ruin everything, torrents, tubes now this.
All certified channels go through review by roku and are accessible via the main channel menu. Roku will not certify porn channels.

Be well

I believe "certified" meant that the channel was approved to be in the official channel listing that Roku featured on their home page. Netflix, HBOmax, HULU and such are certified. Some of the channels from the "private" (Beta) channels would sometimes move from "private" to "certified" after Roku approved them for the move. No hardcore porn channels were ever certified. The porn studios that promote their ability to stream on Roku varies depending on the studio. All the ones who do tend to promote but do so more than others.

I 100% disagree. I don't think it has to do with activity, I think it has to do with with association. Roku, just doesn't want adult contact associated with their platform. Roku is the top nested smart tv service and if you think access to porn is a good look for them, you're wrong.

It's kinda like the shampoo add or detergent, I can't recall with that 70's porn star Marilyn Chambers. Didn't matter how pretty or wholesome she was, they pulled it and that was way before Google, the internet or any reason expectation anyone would expose her.

My first tech job was almost 20 years ago and my companies best kept secret was the fact that they streamed Playboy TV and Playboy online. That's Playboy, not even hardcore and we were told not to discuss the issue, even internally.

I also have roku. Practically I got it for free. I have three porn sites on mine: AEBN, HotMovies and AdultEmpire. I have purchased minutes on all three sites by computer. Those minutes can be used on roku. I have also purchased scenes from all three sites which means I have unlimited viewing of these scenes and not have any minutes deducted. Unfortunately that is not the case for roku. When I watch my purchased scenes from AEBN and AdultEmpire my minutes are deducted anyway. Glad that is not the case on HotMovies. My minutes are not deducted there.

There is a difference watching scenes on TV than it is watching on computer. There is a way to get around that if you have the right cables and some knowhow.

I'm aware that there are other ways to view streaming porn on my tv but I like doing it through my Roku because it's already set up to do so and it's so easy and delivers a great picture and sound. I'm not sure How I'm going to stream to my tv when Roku stops their streaming. I know you can stream cast from a phone or tablet. I might go that route. Are there other ways to stream from a computer to my tv that doesn't involve cables?

^You could use Plex to set your PC up as a media server, and then access it on your TV via the Plex app. I've never used the Plex server functionality, but a couple friends have and they seem to really enjoy it.

Personally, my preferred route has been to just use my video game console as a media player for all my content in the event that I want to watch it on my TV as opposed to my laptop. All you have to do is just load up whatever you're planning on watching onto an external hard drive (you can do it wirelessly if you have a HD with that capability, which streamlines it even further), and play it through your console. There's also the option of just loading up a high-capacity flash drive and plugging it directly into your TV's USB port.

Do the adult sites which support Roku support any other streaming devices like Chromecast or Amazon Fire? I wonder if anyone has a list?

Adult Empire notified customers they support Chromecast.

They support casting to a Chromecast which is not the same as streaming. The only pay site I have found so far which has an APP which will allow streaming to a Chromecast is AdultTime and the Chromecast must have Google TV. Adult Empire and the other pay sites are not worth much without an APP which can stream to a Chromecast or Fire.

I've decided to try simply mirroring the sites to my tv from my tablet. I would prefer casting but doesn't seem that casting is a solution for all sites I subscribe to. I have a Chromecast device that I don't currently use but I'm fairly certain I'll be okay with just mirroring if the picture is clear. If the picture is lacking I'll try casting if it's available and gives better results.

Any site which does not support Google TV or Amazon Fire is now off the table for me.

I am going to migrate my use of Roku to some other platform. Roku has eliminated content which is 100% legal just to get rid of a couple bad apples.

Get chromecast and stream directly from you laptop/computer. It's pretty easy too.

I believe there are some apps on the Fire tablet that allow you to mirror cast on to the ROKU...but the reviews on them aren't good. I bought a Fire Stick to cast from my Fire table to the stick and was disappointed with the picture quality. It wasn't horrible but not as good as I expected. So now I have a Chromecast, Fire Stick, and a Roku but only watch the Roku. As far as watching my porn subscriptions I'll just have to watch them on my desktop or tablet for now. i think a couple of the sites may stream through Chromecast I haven't really looked into it yet.

How's the quality doing this? I tried mirroring from my tablet and had a loss of quality.

It was a great ride using the roku interface for a variety of porn channels with no worries of malware. The ease of click and watch on Roku with no computer virus and also much less shame stigma in a way due to less steps to watch it on a big TV.

For now, the only sites I will consider are sites which include downloads. I can download the scene and use Plex to watch it on my TV without a loss of quality. I doubt I will keep my AdultDVDEmpire Unlimited plan until they offer a channel on Google TV or Fire. Plex is an approved Roku channel which allows for streaming all of your media from your computer (dsaved on your computer) to your Roku.

One other avenue you could pursue that I totally forgot is to just mirror your PC screen with your TV. Assuming that you have a smart TV (which has become standard), you can use the bluetooth setting on Windows to pair your display with your TV. It's a little clunky of an interface, since basically you're cloning your PC screen onto your TV. But it definitely works in getting our videos up on a bigger display.

Thanks for the information. I don't consider mirroring my screen to my TV to be a viable option. Cannot fast forward, rewind, pause, etc. For now, Plex seems to be my best option along with using Google TV with a site like Adult Time.

Actually, you can do all those things with mirroring. You just do them from the device you're mirroring from. Mirroring is basically transferring the image from your smart phone, tablet, or desktop on to your tv. Whatever you do on your device or is on the screen of your device will appear on your tv screen. Mirroring is an viable alternative but my only problem with it is when I tried it there was about a 30% loss of picture quality. Maybe I'm doing it wrong or picked the wrong way to mirror but I wasn't that crazy about the end results. At some point I plan to try it again.

Adulttime has an app which can be "side loaded" on to some streaming devices. I use that plus downloading and plex. Casting and mirroring are to clunky to use.
