Not to high-jack the thread, but Walter, I'll try to bump each of your '10 quotes on pornography threads.' I never thought I'd see David Bordwell's name here, or Russian Formalism, but I was waiting to find Catherine Breillat here and that has become one reason I come here more so then other boards.

Of these three, I am most familiar with Mukarovsky. I have used his concept of different kinds of (aesthetic) norms -- material, technical, practical -- to try to make an integrated historic-poetical analysis of a movie. After 600 pages, I came to the conclusion that I failed. That was a lot of fun.
I am also familiar with Arnheim, though mostly through his early work (think Film als Kunst ). His Gestalt-psychological approach to (visual) art has interested me less so. Instead, I was/am more attracted to the work of E.H. Gombrich.
Knowing next to nothing about music, I must confess I had never heard of Leonard B. Meyer. Louis B. Mayer, yes. Leonard B. Meyer, sorry.

Sure, but an important question remains, IMHO. How much continuity was there between I and II? In other words, is it important for a better understanding of II that the 'failure' of I is understood as well?
I must confess I don't know the answer to this question.

I don't think I really have an answer to these questions. It seems to me that the early and late work can be considered simply as two discrete philosophies - but doubtless there are specialists who have devoted their careers to plotting the continuities.
Incidentally, in reference to your exchange with kierkegaard above, I will mention here that I have recently been reading some of Oakeshott's writings on the "modes of experience" and his philosophy of aesthetics (eg Experience and Its Modes and there are some relevant essays included in Rationalism In Politics). I think it is more or less wrong - but it is wrong in interesting and stimulating ways, and that is really all I ask of philosophy. It might appeal to you two guys.
If more porn stars spoke out like this, assuming they're capable in the first place, it would probably help the porn industry. I think slowly it would make anti-porn types grudgingly begin respecting the stars more, and consequently the industry more. Seriously.

Although it (e.g. "the break") has basically featured the SO and I sitting around watching all the seasons and specials of The Office (UK) (great stuff BTW, if you guys haven't seen these, oh man...it's that laughter of "we're missing the next joke cause we're laughing so hard" comedy), while shoveling down our throats those peanut butter cookies with the checker-board patterns across the middle (God I love those!) and poking each others respective growing guts.) (yea, that doesn't really sound right, but I'm going to leave it in none-the-less).

As if The Office stuff wasn't dated enough, if you guys haven't seen this piece already, check it out. It is a piece that/which ( ) I found humorous, but also a fairly decent and somewhat intelligent critique (although, again, it might be dated) on porn, etc..
People who go to university to study philosophy are generally idiots. They like the idea of being a student but they have no interests....they just want to go hang out with their friends who also chose philosophy because they are equally uninteresting....plus she proved that she didn't even understand what she had learned....
I'm hella late on this one but I just wanted to say I adore Roxy and I love her even more now after this interview. I also support the interviewer for his questions; it was one of the better interviews I've seen. I find it incredibly sexy when the women show that they are intellectual, sexual agents, rather than fulfilling this brainless role they're constantly required to play. Also, more real orgasms on set!!!
