Arista is a subsidiary of Sony BMG, just like Vivid-alt is owned by Vivid, one of, if not the, largest adult entertainment provider and porn label.

Jadetree in this context would be someone like Tony C's label. Or Mach 2.

I wonder if it's in the spirit of alt to explain alt-porn in terms that hide its link to a large 'mainstream-porn' conglomerate. I think it is. Most amusing.

As for your work Mr McKai, quite impressed with all that I've seen. I know Roger T Pipe hated your Neu Wave Hookers, but I can't help but feel it was a case of a porn afficianado affronted by the bravura work of a mischevious, innovative director unafraid to blend his pastiche and homage into something a little smart-arsed. I still think ART SCHOOL SLUTS is the best thing you've done, but don't take that as an insult to your newer work.

I wanted to ask you if you are at all interested in your work appealing more to already-established porn fans or to lure non-porn fans into the fold. I suspect it's a case of the latter. Do you believe there is a specific type of girl who suits your movies, or would you like to see a revolving door of porn stars starring in them?

Look as a consumer (FYI…80% of my 25 + disc collection are Vivid/Wicked dvds, so I’m not a vivid basher) it’s the marketing of these movies that has generated the backlash and not the movies themselves. Again using an analogy from the recording industry might be helpful, why not brand these movies as ‘neu wave’ porn or something like that? Which is less ambitious and perhaps better describes the great new things y’all are creating over there!

But it's odd that a movie called New Wave Hookers needed to be handled like the dead sea scrolls. Lets be real here... I showed my jen what was so amazing about that moive and that time. I can only emagen it fed my generations fascination with 70s and 80s porn. That was the most amazing revew I ever got...... it was like being fag bashed honestly...

as far as what aduance I go for.. that has changed and matured and tailored it self to the make up of the audience. ARt Scholl Sluts... I hoped a full on main stream fan would hate it... I felt I had to come on strong and see if alt porn fans where willing to buy DVDs. The Kill Girl Kill movies i was lruning alot and trying to appeal to just alt porn fans. Becuse it seemed hopeless to do anything else. I think there is a shift in the audience and now people casually peep out a alt tittle... as a part of the verity of porn they might watch. You don't have to sand in the middel of a hot topic to understand that alt is an esablished thing in are culture.

the only newer stuff I have is the movie Girls Lie so I can only assume thats the movie you like less... ironic that seems to be the one that is converting allot of people. I was sure it would get some hate.....

As far as girls in my stuff... I want to see that thay dress them self apart from the main stream in real life. Some are full on porn stars and some are girls who mostly do stuff on the web. It's all a felling not a rule. It's cool if you look at the agents sights you see more and more girls showing a bit of indvaualty and style. Obviously there are a lot of people who are curious about what the Vivid Alt line is about and "alt porn" in general. Maybe a sampler DVD with previews for all the films you've released so far and a scene or two. That could at least satisfy some of the curiosity and answer a few of the questions. I think there's a lot of people who disparage Vivid Alt, alt porn in general and some of the directors and performers who have never even SEEN any of what you produce.

Of course, the AEE is in less than a month isn't it? Maybe it's too late to produce a small, little Vivid Alt sampler DVD but since the Vivid Alt manifesto is very D.I.Y. I'm sure with your creative minds over there you could come up with something.

Just a suggestion. Good luck with what you and Vivid Alt release in 2007 and hopefully by this time next year, the questions and contempt will have faded and you'll be known for producing some great, creative, interesting films.

I did just talk to a comic book store in Boston that wants to try the titles so your not far off. This is a shop that carrys adult comics or I would not even consider it.

if you don't like the trailers then please don't review the titles sounds like there not your bag.

Also things are not as polarized as you suggest... as far as looking for mohoks in the porn shop...

So if your looking for us to dry up and go away don't hold your breath. We are here because we have an audience.

After reading your subsequent postings and reviewing the link you provided, my previous remark about alt porn as a genre was unfair.

I love the ideas behind alt porn especially a title like J. Angel's 'Cum on my Tat.' But on the other hand I'm not a body art kind of guy. So intellectually, I'm down with what you guys are doing but it just doesn't grab me by the gonads--which after all is what porn has to do.

If you cast Savanna Samson, that's a movie I'll buy for sure. In any event the next time I'm in a vid shop, I'll give one of your titles a second look.
