No legitimate company in the US would even think about doing that.

I know that a lot of german companies use old scenes in their new movie releases, they put a new cover, new title, sometimes even not new pictures on the back, and sell the same old shit twice, I was just wondering, its soehow a ripp off to the customer cause the scenes where not really bonus scenes anyway. so what I would like to know, cause I dont know the US market, does US companies do this as well ? and what do you think how the customers will like it ? It happens here, but you can usually find out pretty quickly which ones are doing it and avoid them in the future. There are some clues however. 1. When they advertise 4-hours or 6-hours on one tape/DVD. About 95% of the time or better it will be old scenes that are being resold, or crap scenes. Only occasionally you will get a hot scene in the 4 or 6 hour compilation. 2. Price. When the advertized price is something like $5 to $10 for the movie (unless it is a reputable studio having a special sale) then once again you probably have resold scenes or crap scenes. The 'good' studios would be villified if they tried this. There is one exception though that should be mentioned. That is compilations by one of the good studios that is sold as a compilation. Private, for example, has "The Private Life of ..." series. But they advertise it as a compilation of some of the best scenes for that particular performer and the Private series in particular is very good IMO. They usually add in interview material from the star and it is usually a 2 disc set. If you like that performer than it can be a good deal. Evil Angel has talked about producing a similar type series, but they would advertise it and promote it as a compilation of their 'best' scenes for a particular performer. Knowing Evil Angels reputation, I would look forward to their series if they ever get around to making them. The point being is that Private and Evil Angel would not be trying to pull the wool over your eyes. DenverDon Edited by - DenverDon on 12/28/2003 9:04:57 PM |
