In this month's Entertainment Weekly, I've just read that Buffy the Vampire Slayer's and The Grudge's star Sarah Michelle Gellar is to play a drug addled Porn Star in an independent movie entitled, Southland Tales. There is no further information.
One kvetch. Why are porn performers always depicted in mainstream movies as drug addled or some way fucked up? Why can't Hollywood show porn performers that enjoy their work?

Realism
Also, what you have touched on here is a major component of the argument that, despite the popular belief, porn is NOT becoming mainstream. Instead, mainstream is just more open to embrace porn now but it still sees fit to judge the industry and its participents as immoral. They depict the perceived glory and consequences of a career in porn, initial enjoyment and quick financial turnaround leading into a wrecked life of drug-addled blubbering.
But, of course, by using "they" to summarize "mainstream" I am making just as much a broad generalization as I am arguing that mainstream makes in regards to porn.
Would you look at that...I just made an argument and then I tore my own argument down.
For the same reason that, even amongst people who frequent these forums, as soon as a starlet doesn't make a movie for a month, misses an appointment for any stated reason or looks a little down in a movie or photo shoot, you'll immediately have multiple people posting about how she's doing the good drugs.
Sarah Gellar is a good drug. The sex they portrayed between her and Spike (on Buffy) was hotter than a lot of real porn.
Heather Graham was correctly cast as a pornstar, too. On Scrubs last week they had her all sexy on a bed and beckoning to JD, and she was sooooooo porn!
Hi,Which brings me right to my "theory". I often suspected several so to speak "mainstream" series/movies/whatever to be just a "entry" drug for the future Pornfan. Of course can they not show explicit content on mainstream movies but why the need to show as much as they do more and more ? Because Sex sells ... and the short wet french kiss clip from cruel intentions was hotter than a lot of porn combos i´ve seen over the years.
