A friend of mine sent me over a scan of an article about it all. I can't post it, as it's not mine, but it does go into a little more detail about the attack. Apparently, from what this article says anyway, she suffered a 5cm cut to her neck. She was also strangled and hit over the head with a plant pot. I'll try and find out which paper it's from [Link] |

That seems more consistent with the story. Killers don't generally get charged with "wounding", and criminals aren't often arrested, tried and sentenced within a day of their crime. [Link] |
