Okay, with all the strong opinions regarding male talent in these two threads,

Avoiding certain male talent...
Mark Davis makes me lose wood...

why is there not more clamouring for the studios to not only always list the male performers on the back of the boxcovers but to actually list the scene pairings. How hard could it be?

How many of you find yourselves scouring over the 20 or so pictures on the back of a boxcover to figure out who is working with your favorite females? I usually download the image so that I can zoom in and look for any clues as to who is who.

Companies please, just list all the scene pairings!

I agree, I think this is something all companies should do.

Digital Sin do this, and I give them a lot of credit, I hope others follow their lead.

I have actually purchased some of their stuff recently, specifically because I know exactly what the scene pairings will be.

You are correct about Digital Sin. They have been doing it for quite some time now and it is a great feature. Their box covers do not suffer one bit.

I think, perhaps, this is (and has been) intentional in many cases. I'm not sure I'd buy that they wouldn't think it mattered who the dude was.

I couldn't agree with you more, rlankford. They should also introduce the male talent as they do the female talent, "starring...".

It would be interesting to see what kind of sales were generated off a DVD that, on its cover, listed Jenna Haze as performing with Ron Jeremy.

I wouldn't buy it but I'm pretty sure I'd rent it...just for kicks.

I like this idea. I'd also like to see the female pairings as well. There are a ton of threesome (2 chicks/1 dick) movies out there that usually have the ladies together at some point. I feel I've been misled on many occasions that certain women would be paired up, but that is not the case when you get into the DVD.

That's a damn good idea. I hate seeing Erik Everhard or Manuel Ferrara in a cast with one of my favorite girls, only to be disappointed when they're not paired up. And the box covers are no help, because the guys are usually cut out of any photos, except for maybe a penis half inside a mouth or asshole.

I guess all you can do is try to read reviews or forum posts about the movies.

Very interesting topic.
I try to encourage directors to put the male cast names on the back of a boxcover, but I never really thought of putting the cast pairings on the cover.

I do release a list of scene pairings to the media so that they can correctly credit the scenes (including the guys), and guess I thought that most customers who really need to know read reviews or look at iafd.com.
I'll pass this thread on to all of our directors though.

Also a good way to avoid renting/buying discs with your favorite star in only a lez scene, if you're not into that (as I am not).

One thing's for certain. It would help me sell porn at my shop, particularly to female customers. I can reasonably predict how a movie could play out if I can see those match-ups. Having them on the box cover would be very convenient for me, because I could browse the sales floor with the customer and offer opinion on the movies that catch her eye. This is what I do now, but I'm usually stabbing in the dark if I haven't already seen the movie myself.

Another really good idea would be to have a permanent poll where posters to this site could vote on various combinations of male/female talent they would like to see perform together. I always wanted to see Jenna Haze perform with Mia Smiles. And then they finally did in Promises of the Heart. But, currently, the fans don't have any way of effectively communicating that kind of interest.

P.S. - Would it be too hard for this site to set up a real poll thread (one where posters could designate choices for other posters to click, and that would then generate response percentages)?

Actually, it would be nice to have even the female cast credits on the box cover of some new releases, Tricia - e.g. Rocco Ravishes St. Petersburg or Big Natural Tits 17 (is that Kirstyn Halborg back in action ?!?) - though of course we can pick them up from the Evil Angel web site.

I am not really in favour of scene pairings being listed on the box cover as it implies a rigid, dare I say, formulaic approach has been taken to making the movie itself.

Gabriel -
yea, sometimes the movies from our European directors slip through without cast lists on the actual cover because there's less of a solid communication between them and the graphic artist. But threads like this one remind to stay on top of letting the female cast NOT be credited on the cover.

So quick question: I DO put the entire cast, male and female, in a list form on evilangel.com for every movie. If I took the time to do it by scene, how many people would actually use it?

The issue isn't whether to put the scene by scene cast on a website. Few people would take the time to go to the website to look up that information. The issue is whether to put the scene by scene breakdown on the box. If you were to do that, it would pretty much set the standard. People would really respect the additional disclosure and it would likely only heighten interest in the product.

I would. I agree with those who praised Digital Sin for listing the cast by scene. However, doing so, kind of dictates the format of the back cover of the case. Listing the cast by scene on the website would be a good idea and prevent some surprises. For example, I was very surprised to find that there were two solo scenes in Prime Cups 1 (not that it would have prevented me from buying the DVD). Had the cast been listed by scene, that surprise wouldn't have occurred.

Here is what I would like to see from every company;

FRONT BOXCOVER - all female performers listed.

BACK BOXCOVER - all scene pairings listed, in order. This would include boy/girl, girl/girl, b/b/g and b/g/g. Obviously anything more than three performers would start to become difficult.

MOVIE Intro / Website Trailers - As each scene is introduced it should say "Female Performer with ...Male Performer". Again, if it is a multiple partner scene then simply list the performers.

CREDITS - I would again like to see a listing - Scene #1, Scene #2... with the performers names.

Like it was mentioned above, Digital Sin has been doing this a while now, with both the scene pairings on the back boxcover and the scene listings in the credits. So on top of offering up a great product (beautful young women, great camera work/lighting, good sets, long scenes, nice editing, NO LOUD MUSIC, fast menus) Digital Sin has added something else just for the consumer.

It is great that people like Tricia from Evil Angel take the time to come into these forums and communicate with us. I know Graham from Elegant Angel, Stuart from Smash and Jules post here also.

It is we the consumers that need to speak up for what we want if any change is to be made. So lets hear it.

I realize you're being funny to make a point.
However, if the studio/director was braindead enough to pair Jenna Haze with "Ron Jeremy" in the actual movie, why would they wince at billing them on the boxcover?

Count me in on the more-information-the-better movement.

The problem with New Sensations/Digital Sin's cast list by scene that they have on the back of their covers is that they don't differentiate between people actually fucking and people just masturbating to the side, or people who may have been shown in something more explicit, but only in a flashback or fantasy sequence that took less than 2 minutes out of a scene over 30 minutes long.

Of course this would benefit the fans, but for the studios it would mean fewer sales, period. I'm sure a significant percentage of sales are accounted for by guys who like a particular girl, know she;s in the movie, and speculate she might be in a scene they want to see (maybe BGG for me, perhaps others like DAP or whatever).

For a while Sineplex used to have a scene breakdown for their movies with the girls in each scene plus a list of sex acts included. This was great, but their website went belly-up ages ago.

Even with iafd, often for a new movie the cast breakdown doesn't appear for a few months, so again it's guesswork.

I totally agree. At AmericanVice.com we are obsessed with having the most complete actor database.

I think we are the only DVD site that even tracks the male and female talent by SCENE. I suspect that our competitors couldn't even pick NICK MANNING out of a lineup!!!

Also, you can search our database for LEE STONE AND AUDREY HOLLANDER to find where they worked together.

Using our patented Rebel Search, you can also then refine with 67 meta-tags.

Everyone gets Five Free Movies, with no credit card required. Just a valid email address. Give us a try.

This is an interesting thread. Count me 100% in the camp of more information is better. Consumers are pretty much always better off with more information.

If Evil Angel starts doing this, I can see JJV doing the same, and maybe some of the other more successful studios with good reputations for putting out quality product. Third Degree Films comes to mind, as does Zero Tolerance.

But strong male talent becomes even more important when you have this level of transparency, so I doubt you'll see scene by scene pairings listed by companies that use a lot of scrubs.

It's going backwards for box covers, production dates have been eliminated. Is it recycled? Is it previously inreleased? Is it new? Who is she doing?
