One thing to note is that the image quality is different, and in my opinion better, than in most ZT releases. I think they must have had somebody besides Mike Quasar shooting this one, because I know the camera he uses mimics the look of film. Some people prefer that look, but I personally do not. School of Cock has the more standard look that you see in most good gonzo. [Link]

I have also not shot any of ZT's "Internal Cumbustion" movies either but I have been a cameraman in the adult biz for over 10 years. But enough about my qualifications as they really don't mean jack shite nowadays. I prefer the look of film over video or at the very least, the look of "filmlook" video. I think its adds some class and I think the girls look better. Personally, it does nothing for me to see every ingrown hair and ass pimple that a girl has to offer. I could throw a wide angle lens on a Sony VX2000 and make the exact same product as everyone else out there but I don't want to. I'm not trying to impugn the talents of other camerman/directors out there. Everyone has their own style and I have mine. If people think the stuff that I shoot blows, they won't buy it and I'll be out of a job. That's the beauty of a capitalist society. Many of you may be hoping that this day comes soon!!! I said there that I have never been "blown away" by anything you ever did but there was nothing you could do to really change that, short of casting a girl I really love. Well, I've noticed that you seem to have taken my as well as a couple of other people's criticism in good spirit but are obviously not happy about it. In all honesty, you've been recording for so long that I bet there are scenes of your's that I have liked without even knowing you were the director or a camerman. If I were to see something of your's without knowing you had anything to do with it I am betting that if it had a cast I liked then I would probably love it. So, don't take my criticism too seriously because I'm realizing it has less to do with your filmmaking ability then I thought. As for "School of Cock"...I am waiting for this one in the mail. Amber Rain, Haley, and Holly Day...great cast. If these girls were in a Quaze video I'd check it out in a second. I never check anything out just for the director. It's always about the girls. It's Danny Case, Mark Davis, Wendi Knight, and Greg Alves. However, Alves is credited as director on the majority of the tapes and I had assumed that Quaze was the director for most of them. Nobody can please everybody (except for Evil Angel perhaps :) If we were disussing a feature length mainstream motion picture with a carefully crafted script into which I'd poured every ounce of blood,sweat and creativity, I might be upset by criticism. They can put their names on anything they want :) I usually stick my name in the end credits. Danny Case is an entirely different entity. I ditched the matte box though because I agree that Gonzo loses some of it's immediacy if it looks like 60 Teamsters played a role in the shoot. Right now I'm debating the purchase of the new JVC GR-HD1 except that I still don't understand how a MiniDV tape at 4:1:1 resolution can record in HD. Not to mention I have no idea if I can even edit it on my current set up. What does any of this have to do with "School of Cock"? I have no idea :) Quaze [Link]

It looks pretty good, though I was disappointed that Holly Day's scene is only 19 minutes long and that the dvd doesn't have the usual ZT "tease sequence" extra. I guess I've just been spoiled by the practical mandate-time of 23-30 minutes for gonzo scenes nowadays. Minor complaints out the way, the feature definitely has a different look to it than other ZT product. In actuality, it looks pretty much just like anything from Jon Dough Productions/Devils Film, RedLight Productions, or PlatinumX which makes me understand Quaze's style even better. And the scenes are all set in rather large rooms where the girls seemingly authenitcally loud moans bounce off the walls nicely. I was, however, not annoyed but amused by how director Case opens each scene with close-ups of the girls' ass or her face and saying something like, "Oh, God! That ass is fine," or when he is looking at Nautica, "That ASS is off the hook!" Good old porn. I was kind of saddened to see Amber Rain's ass gaping so wide and easily during her scene with Mark Davis considering that she hasn't done a whole lot of anal yet and is still young. I just don't like gapes. Creeps me out. Oh, yeah. If you can't tell from what I've all ready said I did like this and highly recommend it. Amber Rain, Haley, and especially Holly Day put in great performances. Heck, Nautica is really good too even though I'm not that attracted to her. Kelly PS...FOr anyone still wondering, it is indeed Nautica Binx in the flick. THe other Nautica (Nautica Thorn) is a Oriental/Hawaiian girl who just started doing boy/girl w/out her boyfriend but she isn't ready for anal yet. I just prefer the more glossy, bright look that you see in most of the better gonzo - Mike John, Jules Jordan, Joey Silvera, Vince Voyeur, Erik Everhard, etc. I think visual texture is the right term to use in describing what I'm talking about. If it isn't, then I just made it up. I don't know how married you are to the filmic look that you use, but it might be something to think about for the future. I'm not saying you should go one way or the other necessarily, just that you should think about it. And no, I'm not hoping you are out of a job soon either. Thanks, PS [Link]
