Is it me or do I just find them boring? I just viewed Once you go black 3 and I simply found it ruined. Only scene worth wild was Mandigo. No personality what so ever, we need Justin Slayer to kick Butt Worship up a NOTCH!

I know he has some haters (and Crucifixio, I don't mean you -- if you simply don't prefer his style and persona, that's a fair enough opinion!) but he's one of my two best male performers, exactly because he's a got a great personality and sense of humor that enlivens scenes, and -- at least with me, whom is all I can speak for -- when it's time for him to fade and let the girl take center stage, he knows how!
He's also great at charming girls, most of whom love to work with him -- he's been the gateway to more than one hottie happily deciding to cross that color line. Unlike a lot of male performers of any shade, he actually loves and appreciates women, as opposed to looking at them all as another set of holes to be stretched ... though he's pretty good at that, too :)

No, it's not just you. I don't know if I'd label them as boring, but I too have pointed out they definitely lack assertiveness. I've always found this to be the case with Sean Michaels. Lately, Marcus has also been putting in many disappointing performances.
hi Dreamweaver, I justed read your review, I agree the first 2 installments were excellent. I just hope Jules don't lose his caliber in his future films with the same actors mention. I hate to see a downfall in this series.
For me it's very simple: I avoid every movie with Sean Michaels and Mr.Marcus or fast forward the scene they're in. That's the reason why I didn't buy those Jules Jordan movies because they were in it.
I mean I love BM/WF movies but these guys are a real turn off for me because it's obvious they're already over the hill and what's up with that hat that Marcus wears all the time, I can't stand that.

I have seen these two guys disparaged so many times it makes my head spin. IMO Sean Michaels is a hall of fame performer. His scenes aren't wildly frenetic because it's not in his demeanor. He eroticizes the act and usually brings out the very best in his partner. Sean's scene with Sharon Wild in Once You Go Black 3 was a thing of beauty as was his appearance with Tiffany Mynx in the previous volume. Mr. Marcus is less consistent but extremely effective when he's really interested. I think a lot of the girls fall in love with him. Check out Daniella Rush (hope she's doing well and coming along in her therapy) in Up Your Ass 13 , she was so into Marcus that Lex was rendered almost invisible. Mandingo has a long way to go before he can match these guys as performers and becomes more than just a spectacle.
Personally, I thought Sean saved Once you go Black 3. If Sean wasn't in that movie, I don't think it would've been as good (unless Lex was thrown in there). I think Mandingo is a real sleepy performer. It's cool and all to see a girl with a gigantic black dick in their hand, but as a performer I fail to see his hype. I think Sean Michaels is a well rounded performer, and I have yet to be disappointed by any of his appearances.
I agree on some points with Mr Marcus. He's a GREAT performer but I think he lacks consistency. I think he's always really good with new girls, but girls he's worked with before or have been around for a while, he's not so good with.
I just think that Michaels and Marcus both have enjoyed long, extensive careers, and folks have just seen a lot of them. I am not a current fan of either, but I try not to denigrate them because they have done good things, have entertained me well in the past, and I admire and respect their place in porn history.
Obviously, Sean Michaels is a pioneer among black males in the porn industry, and it's first really big black star when you talk about his own lines, production company, etc. His was always a highly stylized type of porn that although hardcore, always seemed to fall kinda between feature and gonzo. With today's proliferation of the hard fucking Euros, (and Americans when you consider Irons, Everhard, Stefano and that ilk), and the gangsta\thug imagery in a lot of porn featuring black males, Michaels act seems kinda quaint and pedestrian.
As for Mr. Marcus, he's been a good performer for a long time across all genres and themes, but with apologies to DAC, I agree with those that have seen enough of him. He may be an industry pro who knows how to hit his marks, but I've seen quite a few uninspired performances from him in the past few years, and some he just mailed in. There were other, low-budget things I've seen him in where he came in out of shape, giggled through the whole thing, and just seemed to be looking to get paid. But I do think he's had a great career.
As for Mandingo, I'll say it again. The next time he acts will be the first time. No enthusiasm, no personality, no nothing. I can't watch him.
It's funny, the two biggest black male stars of today and the recent past, Justin Slayer and Lexington Steele seem to combine the aspects of Michael's suave\debonaire approach with just enough thug to appeal to the crowd that wants that. Both owe a debt to Michaels and Marcus who paved the way for their success.
I've been watching Sean and Marcus for years and I STILL enjoy watching them perform. Marcus is always requested by the female talent. I find him exciting just by watching him. And as for Sean, he's a porn god that people seem to overlook these days. Yeah he might not ravage the girl like meat but then again that shit doesn't do it for me. He's the one who directed the early "My Baby got Back" series and that shit is still hot. To each his own I guess.
sean and marcus are both great performers in my opnion. sure they have been around for a long time...and there is a reason why. sean has put down great shows in i like it black (and deep in my ass) 5. where he is pounding the shit out of ashely longs ass. and marcus with daisy in crema latina was just pure heat. the thing about these guys is they are solid. never have to worry about any problems with these guys.
I don't find either of them boring. Now that Sean has found a way to keep everything "up" and running, he is back. Marcus has sometimes seemed to be mailing it in, but not lately.
When you compare them to the mass of "average" porn guys, these men still stand out.

Mr. Marcus always seem to be reliable in a scene but Sean M. I could do without in any more scenes. He was a groundbreaker in adult film but I don't watch scenes with Sean in them any more. It is just my preference to do so just as directors might have a preference to hire him for their scenes.

I loved working with Sean in Interracial Lust and I found him far from boring and his scene in Interracial Lust #3 with Mandy Bright will blow your socks off it's very hardcore so boring I don't think so.

Sean Michaels has done career work over the last year. You can't respecfullt mention IR without giving Sean his Due.
Mr. Marcus has also been very consistant over the last 10 years. Both have done groundbreaking work, and Marcus's work with Nina Hartley in Hotel O 2 for Videoteam was jaw dropping. That was the single best Non-Peter North cum shot caught on tape.
Slayer is the hottest black male tallent out right now, and Mandingo has there moments. But if there was a top 5 for black porn it would be the four men mentioned in this post with the addition of Lexington Steele.
Most of the black males I see don't put in the energy or positions that would make a scene pop. Most of our black male performers rely on their size as their claim to fame and not their over all performance. But on the other side, as a performer myself; I know keeping good energy is not easy and not noticed by most. Mr. Marcus has plenty of great performances out there, but when you make as many movies as he does, you're bound to have a few sleepers.

I may not find Marcus or Sean exciting but what they are, that's hard to find is dependable, reliable and easy to work with. Like DAC said, they are both charmers and the ladies like them so why not keep using them? Those are probably the most important traits to have. You're going to get a much better scene when the female LIKES the male she's working with and females LIKE Marcus and Sean. A similar type of person that fans seem to always rag on is Lee Stone. No, none of these guys (at least performance-wise) are going to win any Mr. Charisma awards but they are everything a director looks for in a performer so they will continue to get work. I find Sean lately easier to watch than Marcus but that's just my opinion. I try to keep my eye on the girls and as long as the cock inside them does its job, I'm satisfied. But I agree that some black performers think that all they have to do is have a massive dong swinging between their legs, therefore they don't have to do anything extra to add some spice or put their stamp on a scene.

i agree with the original poster, both guys are boring to watch - Sean is very relaxed and smooth, Marcus same way but he has the cooler hip hop generation look that interracial fans like. Laid back guys, laid back scenes if u axe me.
Justin Slayer is the best black male talent now.

You probably have not seen the right black male performers then. No offense but I think that is a blanket statement. Just like ever other performer, big dick performers have to know how to use their tools in order to reach superstar status. Randy Spears and at some momments, Lexington Steele combine finesse and power like few can.
If looking at Mr. Marcus from the female perspective, he is one of the good things in porn. He is on at list of guys that women find attractive, he has a nice body and he is not overly rough with women. He seems like a good sex partner, and I on more than one occasion have thought while watching him that I wouldn't mind having him myself. The women seem to be turned on by him in a number of scenes. I think he is quite a stud.
