As far as I know, the condom-only thing applies to guys not on her list -- like Bono said. I think if all porn girls were as attentive to the details of personal security, as she is, you'd be hearing a lot fewer horror stories (as I heard the whole week I was in LA -- it's enough to wilt the sturdiest woodsman, I'll tell ya). Alas, Selena is way, way smarter than the average bare-it-all babe. |

As in any profession, you do the best you can. I know people who went to report in Iraq. I'd say that's about 100 times more dangerous than what happens most days on most porn sets. |

It also kind of implies that safe sex in porn is based on trust , rather than on tests (at least to some extent) and that can't be a good thing, can it? Whatever reason it is, I'm curious to hear what Selena's phylosophy on condoms is. |
| Zartyr Member 700 Posts 7/04 | Despite the fact that the viral nucleic acid amplification&detection-methods "directly" detect the Virus, a negative PCR-test, e.g., is regarded AFAIK more as "hint" than a "verification" of non-infection, however. (Because of periods where the viral load is out of the detection range - which may even occur in individuals who are known to be virus-carriers, based on antibody-testing and/or prior tests on nucleic acids.) So a newcomer, whom you don't know and with a valid test, had the chance to get infected during 6 month, may be considered a higher risk than someone who is tested regularly. Because there is a "pressure" on a more "healthy" lifestyle and then add people you know and trust (in their (risk-aware) sex-behaviour). I do not want to do the statistics, but if one is tested every few weeks over a longer period, the negative results of the PCR-tests should also be more "significant", than one or two PCR-tests from a "first-timer". But naturally also someone whom you trust and is tested on a regular basis, can go to the proverbial heroin-addicted prostitute the night before shooting. This philosophy or policy of going condom-free only with people who have been under "observation", i.e. regular testing for a certain amount of time, (and you trust) seems to be a sound way of risk-awareness and -assessment, also for other STD. One would only gain a near total safety if the newcomers are in quarantaine for 6 month, then you send them in a porn-monastery, where the performers are cut off from society.
