All of netguy's reviews reminded me... I got Sex Life in L.A. a while ago, and neglected to share my 2 cents.
I'm not going too go to far into detail here, because it was a month or 2 ago that I saw this, and my memory is a little fuzzy. I do remember that it's pretty much crap, though. With a title called Sex Life in L.A., you'd expect a lot more sex talk in this movie. The director follows around too many boring, non-important bums (literally!), some of who don't even mention sex.
There were basically 2 hot spots for me:
They followed around Cole Tucker and Matt Bradshaw for a while. Now THAT was interesting. Some honest to goodness, behind the scenes at a porn shoot, shot by a real cameraman (i.e. someone who knows what they are doing, i.e. a non-porn camera man). There's some very cool stuff there, but sadly, it only lasts a few minutes. There's even some hardcore blowjob footage (which surpised me, for a serious documentary.)
Then there's Madonna's ex, Tony Ward. They follow Tony around a lot, and all I can say is that he talks way too much. And not even about his sex life either. I kind of got the impression that he was turning tricks, but that was unclear. What was clear, though, was Tony jerking off in the bathtub to climax! Thumbs up for another hardcore scene!
The rest of the movie was pretty miserable. The people and their stories were all either boring as hell, or just plain depressing. Rent it if you must.
