Yes, they are exactly like tupperware parties but for the women of the 90's and beyond!! Basically you get a representative from a sex toy company (in the Uk, these parties are called Anne Summers Parties, after the Anne Summers sex shops). Basically the girls all sit round and have a few glasses of wine, and then the woman brings out various toys for the girls to look at and have a laugh at. Sometimes they bring lingerie as well for them to try on. These things do not get out of hand as far as I know, but I'm sure as lesbian versions things would get "spicey" .
Anyway, it's nothing for you to worry about, at worst she will come home a little drunk, and maybe she will have a bag of "goodies" for the pair of you to try out!!
There's also a fair amount of privacy involved so you don't have to order the foot-long double-headed dildo in front of everyone else. You go into a separate room with the lady running the party and order anything you want in privacy.
I know this because I used to work as the only guy in an office full of women, and they often treated me as just another one of the "girls," and I was invited to attend the sex party. Ranks in the top five days of my life all-time!

I hosted a party like this for EA's female staff and some of our friends. Although I had heard of temptationsparties.com and they seem to be fabulous, I just did it on my own and worked with a local novelty distributor to get product and I payed them for what I sold, and they let me return the rest.
If I had more time, it's definitely something I would love to do more often. It's nice to assure women that it's OK to be sexual.
