Not enough of them, and they just aren't wild enough with the exception of these three among some others. Like Alicia Tyler a whole lot. Like all three of them.

"Redbone?" Do people still say that? I thought that went out of usage along with words like "mulatto" and "colored."

^ It got locked because at some point people just started posting identical posts one after the other every time in that thread and this one: Best Looking Black Female Pornstar. It became completely redundant.

It's a southern (american states) thing, isn't it?

I've lived in the south for 49 years and I had never even heard the term "redbone" until this thread. It certainly doesn't come from us...at least not to my knowledge.

We're also here in the Deep South of the Lower 48. My long time love says she's never heard of the expression and she's a self-described "mutt" of African American, Native American and some white. However, when she gets together with my neighbor, they speak of skin tones like "high yellow" that's an expression I had never heard before.

In my experience "redbone" is used by men among men, out of earshot of women. Also it is somewhat a throwback term, most likely used by certain "old heads". I last heard it in real life about 5-6 years ago; seen it on porn boards a few times over the past years. When I hear it, it says something about the speaker, akin to hearing someone say "groovy" or "copacetic" or similar seldom-used word.

Come to think of it, I've only heard it said by older, black, southern, men.

Yes, I believe it is. My last post in this thread was partly facetious. I am aware that people still say it, just as there are people who still say "mulatto" and "colored." My point was that I think such terms had become less used and less acceptable than they once were.
As far as who says it, I do think it is mostly still used in the South, and it is not just by older men either. In fact, you can hear the word used in rap lyrics now. Rappers from Kanye West to Rick Ross have all used it in their lyrics. In fact, Little Wayne even has a song called "Redbone Girl." As a result, there are a lot more kids starting to use the word again now more than they used to. It seems like just when my generation thought we had gotten over things like complexion issues, the next generation comes along and starts it all over again. SMH
And apparently, it's not just black people who use it either. I was once talking to this white guy that I was hanging out with at a bar. He was a young dude in his 20s from South Carolina. Of course, we got on the subject of women, and somehow we got on the topic of women of different races. I asked him if he had ever been with a black woman before. He replied, "No, but I would love to find me a sexy redbone." I immediate gave him a look of shocked disapproval since I always found that word to be offensive in itself, let alone being said by a white guy. But he just returned with a normal look of innocence as if he had no idea of the meaning of what he just said, which he obviously didn't. I then explained to him that the word "redbone" was considered pejorative, but he disagreed by saying that, where he was from, people say that word all the time, especially his black friends. Me trying to explain to him that it could be viewed as offensive, especially being said by a white guy, was like speaking a foreign language to him. He just wasn't getting it, so I left it alone.
At one time, it was a word that was only used by black people among other black people. However, with it being made more popular by rappers and black comedians, white guys have started saying it now too. It's the same thing with the word "nigga." This is why I always tell people that I don't know why they would get offended at hearing white people say it. In a way, we pretty much gave them permission to use these words by allowing the repeated usage of them by black people to be viewed as acceptable. The way I see it, we can't get angry at white folks for saying the same words that we hear black folks saying all the time on TV and the radio.
But I digress. What were we talking about again?

On Saturdays, we eat at a dive Italian restaurant that's run by the owner from Sicily during the day and his worker from Nigeria at night. Yesterday, we spoke with his Nigerian worker, who said "redbone" as soon as I more or less gave him the definition first. He's been here for about 10 years and knows the expression from rap music. In Nigeria, he says, the only terms used are black, white, and mulatto.

Oh, and by the way, my favorite performer to include in this thread would be Aliana Love.

Redbone is still used in hood everywhere. Basically it refers to light skin sistas but dark skin women with certain features are considered redbones. Don't know who is the baddest redbone ever in porn but Obsession and Julia Chanel come to mind. Rihanna Rimes and Jade Aspen [don't have pics] are the two hottest lately imo and Skin, Harley Dean, Misty Stone deserve a vote also.

Yep. I am white, live in the Baltimore Suburbs, and have heard the term countless times. I think some of these people don't get out much.

I discovered the term from the Autobiography of Malcolm X. He also discussed the term high yellow or as Ishmael Reed refers to it high yella'
I didn't realize it has come back into use, thought it was from the black community only in the first half of the 20th century.
I can certainly see Realtip's view regarding the use of the term, particularly by a white person. I don't think most women would appreciate be called it. And as discussed by Malcolm X there is also a hurtful history of lighter skinned black women being more valued and praised than darker skinned women that this would seem to reinforce.

What exactly is a "redbone?" I'm 55 years old and I've never heard that term before.
