In a wierd way, I like arthur's threads.
I like seeing the arguements on my side. If you can't defend a belief, it is only faith. Belief should be able to undergo scrutiny.

That is where the annoying part comes in. arthur has never made a real attempt to defend his side with facts or arguements. Even if I didn't agree or believe in them, I can respect a guy that can support his side. arthur just whines continually.

The sidebars can be interesting too.

Iwas just about to say that very same thing. Ever since Roy, jr. resigned (or was forced out by some inane age-requirement made after the fact), there have been no Disney's in the Disney organization. Some thought Roy may return after Eisner's ignominious ouster, but thats a no-go since that lame-ass Board of Director's hired Eisner's hand-picked successor in Bob Iger .

Seems the Disney battles began with Walt vs. Roy anyway. Some think Roy was actually the brain behind the company's creation, and Walt just used his superior business and promotion skills to effectively squeeze his brother out. Walt came up with the idea of using his own name as opposed to just Disney, since he (Walt) was so much more closely associated with the product - then he turned around and charged the company every time his name was used!

Brilliant!

It's better than that. in about 1955, Walt set up his own company called Retlaw (spell it backwards) which was his own personal company. Walt himself owned the railroad trains and monorail trains at Disneyland (railroad personnel got paychecks from Retlaw, not Disneyland) and the name and image of Walt Disney, all of which he leased back to the company.

After Walt died, Retlaw was owned by the Disney family: Walt's widow and daughters, and Walt's brother Roy O. Disney and his family. In the early 1980s, the family was thinking of selling Retlaw back to Walt Disney Productions, the idea being the family could get the cash and the company could own the name, seemed like a good deal.

Everybody was on board except one member of the family: Roy E. Disney. He was outvoted, though, and the sale went through. Imagine if it hadn't: Walt Disney Productions would have had the poison pill of all time: "You can buy us, but you have to go to the family to buy the name 'Walt Disney.'"

And for what it's worth, Walt didn't squeeze his brother Roy out, and Roy dedicated himself to "the Florida project" after Walt's death. It opened in 1971, and Roy died a few months later.

Roy's son Roy E. Disney got squeezed out, big-time, though.

I just saw this thread. This occurred at my alma mater.
The fraternity is on property owned by the university and the actual 'fraternity house' in which the fraternity exists is also owned by the university. Therefore, getting permission from an irresponsible fraternity president was not sufficient. The university did not give permission for an x-rated film to be made on it's property. Hell, they are not even allowed to have alcohol on university property, including in the frat houses.

As long as the "kids" are over 18, they can legally do porn as they please; Shane's World could easily set up a "frat house" set. If they all say the're from UCLA or Penn or Princeton -- and they are -- I don't see where the college/university has a legal leg to stand on.

And, "the Florida Project" was originally going to be called Disney World when it opened.
It was Roy O. Disney (the brother), himself, who saw that the name was changed to Walt Disney World before it opened as a tribute to his late brother (whom he loved greatly).
