All find and dandy, but who gets to listen to the audio? :)

Heard about it on BBC radio this morning.
The guy giving the sales pitch said they were researching directional audio at the moment.

He didn't do much of a job selling it though.
IMHO, I didn't hear any convincing arguments over two separate panels.
Plus he had a terminally boring radio voice that nearly sent me to sleep. Not a bad trick while I'm running on a cross trainer. He should do tapes for insomniacs.

Neat idea that you can "peek" around desktop 1 and desktop 2 appears.

This would be a great for ONE person too, someone like me who has dual monitors - now one of these *might* do the job of 2.

Though the way this device is currently designed you'd have to lean a person-width sideways to see that 2nd desktop. But if they refine it for the single user, so that the 2 images are only a few degrees apart on either side of dead centre, then you just shift your head a little to switch between views 1 or 2 - or views 1,2,3,4,5...why stop at 2 - that'd be something I'd like to test drive.

But all that side to side and bobbing (expand the angles of view in all directions on x,yz axes so you can see a diff view when you move vertical/horizontal/forward back...after a month it'd probably lead to a new form of RS injury or ppl with harder abs and really thick necks.

It's neat and everything, but I'm still not sure why a technology whose only purpose seems to be to encourage others to look over your shoulder while your trying to read is necessary...

it may be awesome for multiplayer single-console gameplay.

the audio can be done, maybe as easily as some of the bose 3-2-1 stuff(i don't like them, but they do a decent job of replicating surrounds) or a simple series of omnipolar speakers.
