As for shaving your junk w/o irritation, buy an electric 'personal' shaver (different from beard shavers). Lots of adult online stores sell them, and they claim to not irritate.

I use a mach 3 and gillete sensitive skin gel and shave everything. For the first day after shaving my junk is smooth as a baby's bum, but after the second or third day i start getting lots of ingrown hairs on the inside of my thighs and above my penis and it gets very raw and hurts like a bitch. I shave against the grain because me and my gf like it smooooooth. I also itch alot when i shave with the grain because it still leaves a little stubble behind. I moisturize every day after i get out of the shower with a generic unscented lotion as well. Any advice or reccomendations of products would be greatly appreciated. [Link] |

This, and others, are discussed at Kitty's Consumer Beware discussion forums. Currently, I'm using a combination of the Emjoi Optima (also shown at the above Kalo site, but here's the manufacturer's page) and the Feather Touch which was mentioned earlier (it's effectively the same thing as the Seiko Cleancut - I think a slightly newer version if I've read things correctly). The Emjoi is a bit painful, especially on my chest and lower stomach/groin area - although I've only used it a couple of times now and, apparently, it gets easier with time). I haven't yet summoned the courage to use it on the really sensitive areas. It also leaves me a bit irritated (most particularly my chest), hence my research into the Kalo product. The Feather Touch is awesome (highly recommended) - but it has the drawbacks of needing to be used every day or two, and taking a while to do any large area. You can put a lot more pressure on with the used disposable than a new one and don't get nicked nearly as often (I can't remember the last time). Also, the blades that have the wires over the top (I think the women's razors mentioned here, probably made by Schick and/or Gillette may be of this type) do protect against cuts, but I can't ever get as close with these as with used blades. You can shave with and against the grain with used razors, you just have to do it a little harder. But that's OK, I do this all the time and rarely get so much as a nick no matter how hard I shave. I also found after-shave lotion (not cologne -- AGGGGGHHHH!!), like Edge Gel or something else with moisturizers, helps with the burn and itch, but I must be immune because it really doesn't happen any more. I don't get ingrown hairs, either. So either I'm a freak (granted) or there's something to this -- give it a try! Better be committed once you start doing this, though, is all I can say. Regrowth sucks! |
