| VickiCali Member 25 Posts 5/04 | So I've been seeing the releases and it's pretty sparse, particularly in the US based portion of the genre. Thoughts? I'm kind of curious as to whether I am the only one noticing this. Do guys really care if the girls don't speak english in the movies? I wouldn't think that would matter as long as they are really hot. I mean, at the end of the day, we are simply talking about gratuitous wanking here. I think a big difference also in shemale pr0n vs mainstream is that variety is given a higher value than the whole "pornstar" thing in most cases. As a testament to that, Vanity only worked on two releases in 2004 as the TS Performer of the year, and I haven't worked at all in 2005 as the current TS Performer of the Year. Compare that to Lauren Phoenix and you'll kinda see where I am going here. So anyway just hitting up the fans of the genre to see their thoughts, etc. There haven't been many transsexual threads this year on adultdvdtalk. Vicki [Link] |

| M.B. Senior Member 1679 Posts 2/01 | Joey Silvera usually releases a t-girl title every month or two. If you look at Evil Angel's release list , February all the way through to the end of April he has one t-girl title coming out but it's a Vanity compilation with only one new scene. It looks to me like he's going to do one less t-girl title every few months and replace it with the strap-on series he's got going (Strap Attack). Could Fabio Scorpions passing have something to do with Joey's ability to get girls for his films down in Brazil? Fabio used to find a lot of the talent joey was shooting in his brazilian flicks, with him gone it may have gotten more difficult to find girls. As far as the US scene is concerned, it's been stagnant for quite awhile now. The t-girl titles you see on the shelves are probably 75% or more brazilian, with bad production qualities. I don't mind if the girls can't spoeak english, hot sex that is well shot with girls that can get hard-ons is my only concern when looking for t-girl porn Edited by - M.B. on 3/16/2005 8:45:58 AM |
| VickiCali Member 25 Posts 5/04 | OK, to be honest, I haven't been very motivated to look for work. I guess that is on me. I am a lazy performer in the finding work respect and I kind of like it to come to me. It's kind of funny because movies keep coming out that I made back in August or earlier last year. There have been three releases now that I totally spaced. It just kind of sucks when you dump $30k on surgery and don't get to show anyone. Christie! Hey chica. :) I looked all over for you at the AEE after I saw you that first day. I'll call you next time I am in LA. Vicki |

| Cumwhipper Senior Member 4050 Posts 3/04 | Some highlights for me from last year included: So far in '05, I haven't seen much of anything that comes close to matching the intensity/quality of those scenes. I was eagerly anticipating seeing Gisselle in the latest Rogue Adventures, but the scene was a real letdown for me. I won't bore you all with the details. Some studio should seriously consider doing a series in which each release focuses on a single Tgirl --- sort of like Rogue Adventures meets The Dark Side of Gina Lynn --- where each scene has a different theme (main star with another Tgirl, main star with a group of guys, main star with a group of girls, a blowbang with the Tgirl in the center, etc.) Vicki - you certainly deserve a a movie with you as the star. Maybe this idea is too adventurous for the studios at this point. It may be a ways off, but if they did it, it would rock. Regarding the ethnic factor. I find that I definitely prefer American Tgirls, who can talk dirty in English . It's just much hotter IMO. |

Don't forget that the amount of transsexuals vs genetic people is almost nothing vs a whole lot. That said, I've also learned that U.S. was never able to match up to Brazil, looking at the amount of active actresses and films. Setting the quality of the movies aside, the productivity lies just way higher there. The fanbase of shemales in Brazil ain't too shabby either. That's not a negative thing for the US, as long as they keep in mind that one good movie is always better than 10 not so good movies (some Brazilian studies just have that reputation.) That's why I was glad that Joey entered the biz. Even though companies like Androgeny and Grooby where nice, the industry really needed someone who could set a new standard. That's in no way and insult to other companies, it is just one of the signs that the genre is getting more matured. Just like the recent development in shemale porn, it's just a 'down' after a long 'up'. As long as there are 'icons' in the biz, the shemale porn industry won't die. And as for the lack of activity of performers, well I can't answer that question, they'll have to do that themselves. I do know that stars like Vanity and Giselle are both having other careers aside porn, or at least trying to create them.

I knows my language, most of the times I'm dealing with Portuguese or Italian anyway. @ M.B. You could be on to something with the passing of Fabio Scorpion. The man was a scouting genius to present non-Brazilian tranny-lovers the best of Brazil. ''Love is an irresistable desire to be irresistably desired.'' |
| VickiCali Member 25 Posts 5/04 | I think there is still a lot of self perceived negative perception by many of the viewers. You know they may look at the pictures or watch the videos and like it, and their friends probably have done the same, but bring it up at a bar, and both guys are going to lie about it to each other. "Nah man I don't like that shit". Even in this forum, I think there are guys who watch it but wouldn't admit to it. I know you are out there. Heh. Sprinkling shemales sporadically through mainstream projects (it would have to continue to be with female performers) will continue the acceptance I think. William H kind of went out on a limb casting me for Tales of Perversity 11 but the scene got a lot of really good press which is nice. ;p I gotta thank Christie for that hookup tho. | scipio Senior Member 1901 Posts 2/00 | I know you have the whole "real people/real sex" focus, and I'm not sure if that precludes implants in most cases, but with TS people it's not quite the same issue (yes, I'm aware of hormone therapy, but not everyone uses that from my limited knowledge). scipio |
| TonyC Comstock Films 2523 Posts 8/03 | "Real People" does not preclude implants, but it does connote the sort of people who will be comfortable and convincing portraying themselves. The documentary "character" is just as much (or as little!) a fiction as any kind other character, and serves the same purpose – to create a connection with the audience that helps them forget they're watching twinkling phosphors inside a glass tube. -T.C. |
| scipio Senior Member 1901 Posts 2/00 | I'm not suggesting by any means that you choose both performers and they meet for the first time 10 minutes before the fornication starts. Hence the long interview/screening process to be sure they understand what you're looking for. See what I'm getting at? cheers, scipio |
| TonyC Comstock Films 2523 Posts 8/03 | In my experience the challenge when working with sex-workers is to get them to believe that we really do want them to "just be themselves". In my experience, porn performers have an above average desire to please, and in more than on instance I've had the strong feeling that a sex-worker was asking his/her self "Be myself? Right. Now just who do he want that to be?" This is not unique to sex-workers. Subjects who are accustomed to being in front of other people, or familiar with the art of communication often try to get out ahead of the interview and get right to what (they think) I want. At times, I have had to spend considerable effort on "tricking" the subject into stop trying to "help" me, and just relax and tell me their own story. -T.C. |
