Hi there :-)

I'd love to buy adult DVD's from the US, since they're a whole lot cheaper. I was wondering if any fellow Austrians could share their experiences with me. Are there any problems with customs? If I have the movies sent to me via Global Priority Letter in an envelope (just artwork and the dvd, no case), as is customary from what I've seen at diverse websites like fivestardvd and xavdream, will customs seize it and if not will I have to pay taxes? Where would be a good place to buy from? Both of the shops I've mentioned before seem to have reasonable prices and xavdream ships free worldwide. Xrent seems to be another good place, since they sell used DVD's very cheap, but does anyone know if their DVD's are RC1 or codefree? Thanks a lot for taking the time to read and thanks in advance for any answers :-))

Guybrush

Ps.: Just so it doesn't get mixed up, I'm from Austria, not Australia. We're the ones who got Mozart, not Kangaroos ;-))

Guten tag, Guy, Willkommen zum Forum!

I can't give specific info regarding shipping to Austria, but in my experience all adult DVDs made in the US are region free, not region 1, so no problems on that score.

I know Germany has some restrictive rules regarding shipping adult movies, but what about Austria?

Hi guybrush,

from what I know Austria hasn't the same restrictive rules as we here in Germany. Orgazmik for example ships from Austria to the rest of the world.

I have bought many porn over the last two years from adultdvdnow.com and adultdvdtoday.com, and no order was ever seized by customs. It's important that the adult store send the DVDs and the artwork without boxes in a thin envelope, so it looks like a document.

At adultdvdtoday I always choose the Global Priority Letter option. It's a small A5 envelope and they declare the content as a photo CD. Usually ships in 5-7 days from Hawai to Germany.

At adultdvdnow I take the expensive UPS option. I think with a carrier service like UPS you never had trouble with customs. Usually ships in 2-3 days. The envelope is A4 seized and the content is declared as documents. I never used their Global Priority Option because they also use the A4 envelopes for this option to pack the DVDs, but this envelope is a little bit to wide for my mailbox. And when the postman want to fold it to get it in my mailbox - that wouldn't be really good for the DVDs inside.

I can recommended both shops. Good prices, very good customer service, titles are normally in stock and shipped the same day.

A carrier service like FEDEX, DHL or UPS is able to clear the goods for import. I've never heard that a shipment by courier service was seized by german customs office.
But several shipments by postal service were randomly seized in the past.

danke sehr :-)

i recently got to talk to a customs agent and i was told that austrian law unlike german doesn't prohibit importing porn. the only thing that could happen when importing is paying taxes if the goods are worth more than 22 euro. so i ordered twice from xrentdvd.com by now and both deliveries reached me without the slightest problem (they shipped only the discs and sleeves in a small package) and i paid less than half of what i would have paid in europe, so a big thanks to the united states for providing me with cheap top quality porn :-)))
