I've always been curious about how the casting process works when American porn companies go to Europe to shoot scenes. Obviously, the main reason to go to Europe is to get access to that talent pool. That said, once they are over there, how do the Americans get access to the female talent? What are the barriers to getting the best european girls? By and large, do the American companies have much ability to say who they want to shoot or are they at the mercy of the casting agents or agencies that are in place in Prague, Budapest, etc? Also, with companies like Private and Hustler (which seems to have a permanent european operation), and other euro porn companies, is it common practice to lock girls into long term deals like Vivid, JKP, and others do in the US?
That a very good question, Ive always been interested on how the talent pool was managed in Eastern Europe. I've never really seen lots of exclusivity contract in Europe, except when Laure Sinclair signed for Marc Dorcel. I don't know if Lynn Stone is an exclusive contract girl for Private, I havent seen her performing in any other porn companies since she started shooting for Adamo/Private/Penthouse. The euro-actress seem's to make lots of movies with a big variety of porn companies.
I think most of the euro-gals work as free-lancers with different agency's. Have you guys noticed how many movies from diverse companies are shoot at the exact same place/setting in Budapest, Prague. Seeing the same room, hotel, etc... over and over. Makes me think those are "permanent porn studio's" that are beeing used and reserved exclusivly for porn movies.
The casting process in Budapest and Prague is in many ways similar to LA. There are agents we deal with who supply the female talent and we choose which are appropriate for whatever given production we are doing at the time. We usually have large casting calls the day after we arrive. Actually, I find it much easier to shoot in bulk quantity in these countries versus here. It's very much a business in Eastern Europe and run in a professional manner from my own experience. It's easier to shoot a good quality movie in a week ( or less) over there. And yes the talents are significantly cheaper. Feel free to ask any other questions about shooting in Europe.

Do the large companies that I mentioned such as Private lock girls up to contracts like Vivid, VCA, JKP, etc.? When you go over there, do you have the ability to seek out certain female talents or does everything come from the casting call and who the agencies put in front of you? When the people on this board provide feedback on girls they would like to see more of, do you have the ability to act on that?
Incidentally, I don't mean for this thread to turn into another list of everyone's favorite eurogirls, which is why I'm avoiding names of specific performers, tempting as it is.

I've always been curious as to why companies don't venture beyond Eastern Europe more often. I'm sure they're willing women in other area's of world.
Anabolic heads to South America every now and then. You can always get stuff from Western Europe. Occasionally you'll see a title that says the girls are from South Asia, but I want a company to go into India, South Korea, Virgin Islands, or Iraq and bring back some serious raincoat material. I know Lex would look a little out of place in some South Korean city, but he would look so at home with this cock in the ass of one of their georgous women.

i'm probably not qualified to answer this question, but there are a handful of girls that sign exclusive contracts with Euro companies though the practice seems much more frequent in the U.S. Laure Sinclair was one, Michelle Wild also had an exclusive contract with Kovi/Private which just recently expired (hooray!) hopefully soon we can witness the product of her "freedom" in a scene which she shot for RLD with Steve Holmes.
Lynn Stone is under contract with Adamo. Sandra Iron and Maya are now LuXx exclusives. Jessika Fiorentino has a deal with the Italian Top Line Video. Julia Taylor has been a Salieri contract girl (more or less). Probably Bettina is Pirate-only. And of course Clara Morgane, who only works with Blue One and Fred Coppula.

That's very interesting. Good info. I'm glad to hear that Michelle Wild is free. Hopefully we'll see her in some US Productions now. I wish more of these girls would actually come over to the US and shoot scenes for Jules Jordan, RLD, Annabolic, etc. I've said this before but some of these girls are so much hotter than the average US-based starlet that there really is no comparison. Does anyone know anything about the hurdles, legal, immigration, and otherwise, for European girls to come shoot scenes in the US? I'd love it if Julia Taylor, Patricia Diamond, Michelle Wild or some others could find there way over here.

The success of Laure Sainclair for VMD and Clara Morgane for Blue One has triggered a real contract girl frenzy in France. Every "respectable" company has to have a contract girl now. Clara Morgane is the main factor for Blue One's recent success. The latest news is that after Clara dumped her boy friend Greg Centauro a couple of months ago, she now has a relationship with her director-mentor, Fred Coppula. Blue One had signed Estelle Desanges first, but things obviously didn't work out as planned, although she still works for the company on a non-exclusive basis. Laure Sainclair is succeeded by Melanie Coste for VMD, Colmax signed Katsumi, director John B Root signed Ally Mac Tyana and even Philippe Dean signed a contract girl (damn, I can't remember her name; not to worry, they have split up already). German producers are also known for their contract girls. Multi Media Verlag has Kelly Trump and Denise. DBM have a whole host of contract stars, such as Babette Blue, Coco Brown, Dolly Buster and Debora Cœur. XY Pictures had Rita Cardinale and the Rauch sisters. Goldlight had Madelina Ray. I believe that director Mario Salieri has been the most active European producer/director when it comes to contract girls. Besides Julia Taylor, he has or had the following girls under contract: Selen, Dalila, Monica Roccaforte and Chipy Marlowe. There may be more than these.
About Top Line Video in Italy, didn't they also have Desire Vinci a couple of years ago? And wasn't Deborah Wells under contract for Silvio Bandinelli when they made Mamma and Nirvanal ?
As a slight sidenote to this thread, does anyone know what happens/has happened to some of the European girls that appeared in some of the titles a few years back.
As examples, I am talking the likes of Aliza who appeared in the "Tower" series or Joy Kiss who appeared in the "Gigolo" films, both for Private. There are many other examples, for various companies/labels that I have seen of girls who are in only a few titles and seem to disappear. Can anyone share some light on this subject? It seems to happen quite a bit with PRIVATE girls.
Actually, Walter, we could go on and on for ages, but I don't know how many people would actually be interested. Top Line Video has a record: they signed 4 contract girls, one after another, and three of them abandoned the company (and sometimes even the sets) after a few days: the former Private girl Andrea (or Clarisse) left the Anita Rinaldi's Planet Sexxx set in tears, and no one ever heard of her again. Same with Patti Page and another girl who chose whoring over porn. Mélanie Coste is a hopeless Clara wannabe, but I'll buy "Mélanie Top Model" anyway, because it's full of cute Hungos (Hungoes?).

imho, Clara is overrated herself. To her credit, I have to admit it is not easy to live up to the kind of hype that has been bestowed upon her. And of course, she is not helped by sticking with Coppula, who is nothing more than an amateur who was lucky enough to strike oil just by relying on the drawing power of beautiful girls (well, at least he is a smart amateur).
btw, do you know how Mélanie Coste got into the biz? She won an amateur contest for "Hot Video", where the winner got a glamour photo shoot by photographer Christoph Mourthé. So once again, we see how the guys at "Hot Video" have tried to exercise some influence on the French porn market. I probably won't find the time any time soon to scan the pics, but if you could see her amateur pictures she sent to "Hot Video" when she entered the contest, I am sure you would hardly recognize her.

Sorry if this is getting tiresome to some people but this is a subject I am very interested in. I appreciate the information on the contract girl situation in Europe. I'm hoping for some comments from the industry people that read this forum about their experiences shooting in Europe. One question that I am interested in is this: when companies like RLD, Annabolic, and others go on trips to Europe, how much ability do they have to go after specific girls? For example, if I were a porn director going to Europe and I had a shopping list of say, 30 girls that I wanted to shoot, how many of those would I be likely to get? Are the constraints of time and money such that this sort of a process is not really feasible? This is one of the reasons I was asking about the frequency of exclusive contracts. How typical is it for a US-based company to go to Europe and find out that a number of the girls they would like to shoot are locked up to long-term deals?

I don't know if you are a fan of Clara, but in case you are, then it is good to know that she did one amateur video before she signed with Blue One. I just found out that Clara Morgane appears in a video called Rêveries Exclusives , produced by French amateur company Fantas. I haven't seen the video, and frankly I don't think it is good at all, judging from the few Fantas videos I have seen.
As a side note, Melanie Coste also made a video before she signed with VMD. She appears in Le journal de Pauline , the latest Fred Coppula video for Blue One, with in the lead role ... Clara Morgane. So you can compare the two in the same video. They even share a scene together.
