I seem to remember Private handling some of their road trips in this fashion, mitigating location costs by making separate movies with the same cast.

I just watched David Stanley's "Good Things", which re-uses the same cast and sets from "Tricks." This isn't a location-type shoot, though. I'm just curious about whether this happens a lot, and I just never noticed because I never saw both movies before.

As for the movie, I don't disagree with RubyRed's review much, though as usual, I'm more forgiving on the sex scenes. And I agree that the plotline was both interesting and well executed -- so much so that I didn't immediately notice that Ava Vincent, one of my ATFs, had no sex scenes. She's pretty much at her peak beauty here, though, and does really top-notch acting work.

I think it does happen fairly often. Jim Holliday shot a lot of his movies two at a time, as is shown in many of his behind the scenes featurettes. The same can be said for many of Nina Hartley's educational releases. She'll have one of the girls do sex stuff in one of the releases, but just join her for the interview portion on the other. Although it's nice to see her bringing more talent in for her educational releases, Nina doesn't give the customer any warning on the boxcover who in the cast is actually involved with the sex and who just talks with her. Because of that, I wouldn't blame anybody for skipping the current Nina Hartley Guides just because you don't know if the person you're looking forward to is involved with the sex or not.

When I reviewed Nina Hartley's Guide to Strap-On Sex (the most recent release in the series, I believe), I was pleased that Adam & Eve had apparently resolved the confusing packaging issues associated with earlier volumes. Mika Tan is Nina's partner for both the discussion and the demonstration, just as the cover would imply. Maybe they heard ya, and fixed the problem. One can hope.

Anyhow, yes indeed, the Guide to Strap-On Sex was recorded during the same three day period as the Guide to Female Ejaculation. The behind-the-scenes featurette includes the female performers from both movies. Nina Hartley's Private Sessions, volumes 11 and 12, also appears to be an instance where enough material was recorded for two volumes, since the cast lists are virtually identical.

That's right, I forgot about Bizarre's stuff. There are several of the Leatherbound Dykes From Hell series which appeared to be shot two at a time...

There was a couple of movie series that shared the same set, a house with a pool in Prague most likely. It looks like the Danube River in some of the shots.
Many of the same ladies were in both video series. It was the Killer Pussy line of videos from Digital Sin and the Hardcore Innocence line from Elegant Angel. Killer Pussy was Nacho Vidal's videos and Hardcore Innocence was Tony Ribas. Both are Spaniards. They performed in each other movies and shared expenses and actresses IIRC.
I think Killer Pussy #4 and Hardcore Innocence #1 were filmed at the same time.
Not a bad idea.

Although not features, there was a period when Craven Moorehead was still shooting his Oral Adventures of Craven Moorehead series, and was shooting the Deep Throat This series for Peter North.

There are volumes where the two series virtually match-up with the same girls, same sets and, often, the same outfits. I picked up on this a good three or four times.

I used to see the same thing in many Adam and Eve titles. IF you truly follw porn you see the same talent wearing the same outfit for multiple studios. It's not rare that talent might wear the same outfit, but when it happens in the same location with the same guy or guys, you know what's going down.

I think Private Tropical still does this.

Teen Idol 3 and Moving Violations from Smash were both shot in the same house at the same time, but with different casts.

I'd think this is a common occurrence, even moreso today when gonzo lines are so utterly interchangeable.

But even back in the 80s, Svetlana took all those people to hawaii and they shot like two or three movies back to back (ginger lynn's debut...)

I tend to recall someone mentioning that they'd shoot the same girl blowing different guys for different lines...

------

Actually - this is truer than you know. Shooting for their Collectors Series, David I Frazier & Svetlana took the cast to Hawaii and made the films which are now released under the VXX banner....

"Hanky Panky, Ginger's Hawaiian Scrapbook, Panty Raid, Surrender in Paradise and the Pink Lagoon."

After she was doing loops and much print work - including a stint in the 1983 Penthouse - GInger's first film was indeed "Surrender in Paradise" where she celebrated her 21st birthday.

Back in "the day" we shot two films simultaneously more time that I can remember, espcially between 1983 and 1995. Budgets were tightening up and films overlapped - especially with certain directors who were always lining their pockets.

Kami Andrews says that she was on a Jim Powers set where he was directing three movies simultaneously in the same porno mansion. I wonder if he uses a second and / or third cameraman in addition to himself.

I have heard moaning from another room in the porn mansion while watching New Sensations / Digital Sin DVDs. Considering the rate at which they release DVDs and that the same mansion is used in most of their DVDs, it wouldn't surprise me if they shot two different scenes for the same or different movies simultaneously. It's no big deal since you can't hear the other scene once the scene you are watching starts. If I were them I would do the same thing.
The other scene is only faintly audible in the background during the beginning of the scene you are watching.

Tyce Bune often shoots the same actress in two or more scenes in the same day. He often mentions this in the interviews in the beginnings of his Cream Pie Hunnies and Casting Couch Confessions DVDs. The scenes in the Cream Pie Hunnies and Casting Couch Confessions DVDs are usually pretty brief (around 10 minutes long).

Ty Endicott often tries to get scenes for three different DVDs out of one scene. This is annoying since it results in him reusing much of the footage in different DVDs. It's also noticeable because he sometimes screws up his editing and doesn't cut out footage that belongs in the other DVD.

Well in gonzo movies it hardly matters. Clearly we've all seen the usual locations a hundred times.

In features there are locations that are familiar and used often too. But in these two movies, it just seemed odd to me to see the same cast in all the same locations -- laundry room, restaurant, bedrooms and hallway -- but playing different people in a different plot. Almost like it was some kind of drama-class experiment.

Ive seen multiple movies going at once in Gonzo but I wouldn't say it's the norm, what's more common is them chopping the one scene into multiple scenes (a blow job line an anal line)
sadly I don't know shit about features

Yep, I noticed this as well too. Thankfully while the same girl, outfit, and set might be used -- the actuals BJs were not the same.

Well, it's more typical in gonzo/wall to wall, but yeah - also in some features, especially if they are already planning a sequel.

Some of the sequals scenes will be shot ahead of time so they only have to pay for the location once (or at least with minimal overtime cost) if it's a big ticket location and needs to have a scene in that location repeated.
