I guess this is the only profession in showbiz where the actress is acting beyond stages, saying things in social media, interviews and podcast, that the adult viewers probably... would like to read. Some of the adult agents even advice the girls to do that, claiming that the audience like to think that the models enjoy everything they do on screen, even things that are not considered widely... accepted. But on the other hand they make them look like.. unrepentant sluts and that creates wrong impressions about who they are and what they actually like in real life. And this in turn has a severe impact in the way society sees them. I mean isn't time to stop all this theater of insanity and start models and insiders just saying the truth or just stop saying lies? Think about it. Its like in mainstream cinema when an actress plays a sinister role where she does a lot of bad stuff in the movie to comment afterwards that she likes to do that things in real life too. What the people would think about her afterwards? [Link] |

Nobody should be ashamed of or repent for the sex acts they do provided that they're consensual and don't break whatever agreements they have with their "real life" sexual partners, even if they're not vanilla. Perhaps I'm a simple man but I don't get into a fuss about whether a porn actress is telling the truth about how much she enjoys sex, that's her job to say she does. I just care about getting off to her work (as long as she does it under her own free will, without coercion). You just sound like you want to control people's behaviour and conjure something up to make yourself sound righteous. Just because you apparently struggle to separate the porn actress from the "real life" person, they shouldn't lower themselves to pander to your lack of comprehension. |

Not that I'm suggesting that this is true in most cases but, regardless of the actual truth, it enhances the fantasy if the girl is telling us how much she loves doing all this stuff for us. I do think some honesty does come through at times on social media when girls are having a hard time but generally I prefer to live in a fantasy world where every porn girl loves what they do. I don't even want to read bad stuff after they've left the industry, would prefer they carry on acting like they had a great time and a great career. |

First of all I said MAKE them LOOK like, I did NOT say they are "unrepentant" sluts. But on the other hand maybe you are right on the use of word "unrepentant". It might not be the best word to use, but there was a reason I use this certain word. You see, a lot of adult models in order to attract adult viewers attention and promote their work make sexually provocative statements that afterwards regret. And they regret because 1st they don't actually believe in them and 2nd the adult audience do not always consist of very conscious or mature individuals. So some of them do not understand that all these are a part of the show and they start forming wrong opinion about the girls which is expressed in social media and extended in real life too. E.g. When an irresponsible adult viewer recognizes a model outside porn stages and says disrespectful things about her scenes. And when the girl reacts and tries to tell him that she is an actress and in real life she is very different then he continues to justify his words by saying: "What are you talking about? You like these things because you said you do...". And no sir I am not naive but I am sure that this have happened many times in the life of the porn stars and it wasn't nice. As you well said having sex in camera is enough for these girls to be condemned by "narrow-minded, prudish people", so imho there is no need to continue to act beyond cameras and make their lives even more difficult. |

| AngryPirate Senior Member 3210 Posts 8/17 | You see, they are called porn actresses for a reason: they act as a sexual persona, even if it's not what they're into everything they do on-camera in their personal life. I don't wish to dismiss being approached by creeps as an occupational hazard though unfortunately it does happen with some people. Think about it. Some creepy fans will only hear what they want to hear so regardless of a porn actress making some sort of disclaimer that what she does on camera isn't 100% reflective of her personal life, those creepy fans will still pester her making your suggestion a moot point. You see, those creepy fans may more serious underlying problems that no disclaimer can assuage their beliefs that Boobie McBoobface is a nymphomaniac. Therapy with a psychiatrist or psychologist would be much more effective to establish the root cause of their unwillingness/incapacity to separate a porn actress' real life personality from her alter ego in the industry than have that actress make a disclaimer in the hope to treat symptoms rather than cure the problem at hand. Should Jodie Foster open up about John Hinckley Jr and remind the world that she wasn't actually a prostitute on Taxi Driver instead of maintain her few discussions on Hinckley? Would you rather not see those with mental health problems get the treatment they need instead of be given a paltry clarification of the real world? |

| thementalwhisperer Deactivated User 12 Posts 10/17 | The actors do not extend their roles in social media, especially roles which are not very respectful or socially accepted. I mean you will not hear Mr Hopkins after "Silence of the Lamps" saying "I really enjoy eating humans in real life. They taste like chicken!" or Mr Carrey posting "My role in -Dump and Dumper- reflects my personality. I am truly that dump!". And even there are times where the actors in order to look more convincing decide to cope very unpleasant things over their roles, they ll not claim afterwards they enjoyed being self tortured. Some adult models, though, DO (Not all). They pretend someone they are not (or ever wanted to be) and force to make comments that dont actually believe, in daily basis, almost all day and as long as their career last. This alone is a soul breaking and exhausting procedure which can affect everyone. Now if these comments might potentially refuel the negative opinion some viewers have about these models it makes it even worst. (Like pouring oil into the fire). It doesn't need anything else to make a starlet feel greatly depressed. Finally I am not saying to spread drama in the public community about their choices. I am saying that there is no logical reason for the adult models to act beyond stages, struggling to conserve the image of the greatest slut for as long as they are active and destroying their psychology. All this in order to justify their place in the industry or just because some viewers feel more comfortable for them to act this way. I think that being normal women is more than enough. They do not need to be anything more... or anything less. As women they can have fantasies, feel attractive, sexy and horny without creating a nasty "whorish" image and as public figures they can develop distinctive personalities which dont involve sex in their daily routine. |
| AngryPirate Senior Member 3210 Posts 8/17 | You create this false aura of concern for their welfare but it just reads like you want to control their behaviour and you tripped up over yourself by saying a porn actress can create an image you don't approve of. I don't deny that some porn actresses express regret after they quit or they have psychological problems but that happens in many industries and isn't limited to porn. Why don't you champion their cause as well? The more you say this crap, the more you undermine and patronize the women you claim to look out for. You suggest they're weak willed and mentally fragile by doing and saying all sorts of sexual things frequently. Depression can occur without any apparent cause in some people and if you had half a reasonable understanding of mental illness, I doubt you would have made that cynical implication that a porn actress may suffer from it if she says X or Y as part of your appeal to emotion. There is "no logical reason" to make those comments off-camera only because you don't want them to. As Peter Mc alluded to, unless a porn actress is a one and done, she has to promote her brand and market herself to fans, producers and agents so she has to maintain an image by saying and doing things (within her limits). To uphold and image and promote your brand are perfectly logical reasons as far as I'm concerned. |

| thementalwhisperer Deactivated User 12 Posts 10/17 | For weeks I was actually biased if I should continue to support this topic since the discussion exceeded the level of being civilized. I even reached the point of protecting myself against personal accusations because I tried to be more sensitive. However, the subject of the topic is very light and it continues to create several problems in the lives and the public images of the adult actresses. I was hoping to create a trigger here for more opinions to be heard so, I will make another attempt to reengage the topic. I am not claiming an adult model should not be sexually provocative to her audience. That would be stupid. Every showbiz artist will use all necessary means she considers feasible to promote her work and attract public attention, intonating any natural charismas she has and exploiting the effects of sex appeal. Much more the adult models whose work depends on that. I am not claiming that the adult models should not advertise the pleasures of sex. After all, this is what sex is all about. I am saying that the adult models doesn't have to exaggerate and promote a diverted image of their reality, outside the set. Especially, when this has to do with their own sexuality and personality. During her scene/show an artist can say whatever she thinks will serve the concept of what she is doing. After all, being as much as convincing as possible is a part of her job. Although in porn there are tricks and a lot of things that take place behind the cameras, every action that is committed is real and camera proven. There are no CGI special effects or stant women to replace the actresses. And the nature of sex is such that it makes it difficult for the viewer to distinguish the difference. Even though many times the sex in the sets is pleasureful for the girls, there are some actions which are committed only to serve certain pornographic niches and are not necessarily enjoyable or socially acceptable. So when a starlet extends her roles outside the set trying to promote these scenes as part of her everyday routine or when she attempts to "sell" the image of the biggest slut in the world she raises the chances to create a serious negative impact which might furtherly have severe collateral consequences in her real life too. |
