Tenderness in a hard core movie is just as boner-inducing and heart-racing as the hard core scenes.
I think movie makers would do well to show a little tenderness, then the rough stuff.
It usually works best when you film two actors who've always wanted to work together.
Regards, Rump.

Yeah, sometimes I agree. Although, some of the distant types of scenes can be really erotic too! I'm thinking of some of the Adamo setups. It all depends. But what doesn't work is the "how much longer til this scene is over" attitude that I see far too often!

I hesitate to put this link in, but a lot of us did reply on what we would like to see in movies, including a lot of tenderness, eye contact, kissing, and kissing.

Here's the link.

(I know it's a SW poll, but please don't jump too hard)

Hah, good question. I think the answer is "not necessarily." IMHO, it is the chemistry between the actors, whether real or acted, that makes the difference. As MLyons noted, there's nothing worse than a bored actress watching the clock.

As I recall, one of the newer companies was working on a series about sex from the women's point of view. They even asked one of our regulars to assist with the second volume. A large part of that dealt with more foreplay which seems like a good idea to me-an old, jaded, reviewer who's watched far too much porn over the years.

I have to agree, tenderness and passion in a film make the sex all the more erotic. If the actors are just fucking mechanically, it's never as hot as seeing real, or portrayed lust and enthusiasm.

Kissing, foreplay, really telegraph that tenderness and a lot of porn just jumps in with "suck, fuck, facial". Time producers used more imagination and the actors used their talent.

Yes, but it has to be convincing. Unconvincing tenderness is far worse than a bad bj and about as boring as listening to Julio Iglesias or as revolting as eating a cake which doesn't taste anything but sugar.

IMHO it makes a huge difference. I always think about my own experiences - how many times have you actually had sex with someone without kissing or touching, etc? Not too often unless it was with a prostitute. However, there are tons of scenes and whole videos and discs with no kissing at all. I find that very cold and much less realistic. Anabolic/Diabolic comes to mind although there are many others. The one downside, as Whiplash mentioned, is that if one of the participants (usually the guy) is trying to kiss or be more tender and the other person (usually the female)isn't into it the scene immediately loses a lot of credibilty to me.

hi, well i think that the companies like RLD, DIA/ANABOLIC, should make some type of series about this theme, of course keeping the hardcore and finding girls who are into it, well, i guess they could use this idea, well that´s all, byee.

The intial question-

'Should hard core porn include tenderness?'

My reaction is that the performers would go crazy performing in hardcore if they let their guard down and were realistic and vulnerable (I think performers have 'armour' up to protect them from making real personal connections, kissing and being truly attracted to multiple performers could really create some mental anguish.)

Here I go on the soapbox and ranting, bear with me (if anybody is reading this anyways.)
Pornography has become more of a sport than a barometer of what real sexuality is. And for a reason...also, if a market exists for this type of porn (tender hardcore?) it will be made. The majority of porn viewers want to put a dvd or vhs in the ol player, spank it and forget it. They don't want to be reminded of their shortcummings or a real romantic notion; this might be even more depressing and not arousing at all. Porn is an outlet, an extension, and it connects more to a deep-routed sexuality in men to relieve sexual tension, and I believe this is more close to a bathroom function than it is to an emotional one. Like the feeling of taking a great piss, this is the feeling of porn. Getting it out of the system, getting a fix.

***
Have I lost yah yet? Sometimes to truly look at something, you have to speak from the gut, and from my personal life and also from working at two adult stores, I think I have a fair outlook on it.
***

Tenderness in all fairness does not play a part in average porn viewing. I am not saying all porn viewers feel this way, and obviously the well informed postees of ADT probably feel differently, but if you gather a poll of the 'average' person renting or watching porn, I would almost guarantee that they want a product that objectifies, degrades, and uses the women in the movies. They might not want to sign their name to it or put a picture next to the remarks, but I think this is the root of a majority of porn viewing.

If a movement develops for tenderness in hardcore, so be it. I won't rent it or buy it, but as the saying goes, 'if you build it, they will cum.'

RE P-Knuckle's post: this is the best explanation of the present popularity of wall-to-wall/gonzo that I have ever read. Thank you for your honesty, P-Knuckle.

Agree wholehearedly. Thenderness does NOT belong to hardcore porn, IMO. Passion yes, but tenderness NO.

I am pleading for a long time for a romantic porn product for those of us who cannot get the romance and tenderness in normal mainstream films.

But me, I want the actors to basically fuck in hardcore films. I do not want foreplay, no kisses, just tease (take Ass-Worship as a good example or Balls Deep) and than they shall jump at each other and FUCK.

I think I would always prefer a good fake-rape setup against a tender kiss in my hardcore.

I'm not sure what "tenderness" is, but I know what I like. These days, in many cases it is not enough (for me) to simply watch men stuff cocks into female holes. I'm of course well known for my fondness for Nacho-Ribas movies, and the reason I enjoy these is that the performers, male and female, often seem totally in psynch with each other, physically and mentally. They kiss, and they stare into each other's eyes, but they also fuck like bunnies to the point of exhaustion. So it isn't emotionless rutting as seems to be often found these days, but I'm not sure it is "tender" either. It is certainly "hardcore" and if the performers don't seem to develop some sort of connection with each other beyond the cock going into a pussy/ass, then I tend to lose interest.

Excellently put, Speelie. I think there's a place for tenderness.... but I'm not sure that I want to see it in hardcore porn. I definitely want to see a connection though... a mutual excitement and genuine interest from the performers both in each other and in what they are doing.

I hate to sound like a broken record here (a skipping CD for you youngsters), but like I said before... it all depends. It's OK to create any type of atmosphere for the DVD at hand, and then to add or remove "tenderness" in order to match the desired outcome. One is not better than the other, it's all a matter of personal taste.

Tenderness may be a little too much to be considered a must-have in hardcore porn.
But to me, Passion IS a must-have.

I can't stand it when the performers look like they're just performing as long as the director doesn't say CUT.

Speelie pretty much described how I feel. A scene where the performers really connect, combined with strong hardcore sex is what gets me off.

Maybe it's because I'm a girl, but there seem to be more than a couple guys out there who feel the same. I want to be able to put myself into the feelings of the scene, and if they don't even look like they want to be there, why would I?

I think back to any of my scenes with Mark Davis or Marcus or Nick East, and there's tons of kissing and great body language and really good sex.
I think that porn needs to get rid of the gross-looking performers so that the girls will want to be with the guys.

I agree wholeheartedly with Tricia. I love a strong connection between the performers, and in gonzo I like the females that react with passion to the camera as if its the person they are fucking/sucking etc. Nothing beats a gr8 performance and I appreciate the women who do it well.

I feel tenderness and passion are two seperate things. While tenderness is important aspect in a relationship, I don't think its what makes men reach orgasm when watching pornography ( I don't speak from a womans perspective on anything as that would be stupid and pointless.) And as I stated before, I think it would be a turn off to a lot of 'raincoaters.' I know of many customers where I worked who would complain if they even saw the guy in the film or heard him talking to the girl. They don't want to see massaging, soft touches of feathers over womens cheeks, etc. But I do think that average porno viewers like to see tenderness in Lesbian scenes, this seems to be a rather more palatable thing to people I speak with at least...

Whats funny is if you talk about 'passionate' performers, such as Rocco or Nacho Vidal, yeah, they kiss the performers a lot, and then they really pour on the tenderness, whether it be slapping them in the face or plugging the girls nose to achieve a deeper blowjob (and making them cry.) Oh the tenderness...

Tenderness is to Passion, as Love is to Sex. While they are not mutually exclusive, neither are they one and the same. I agree wholeheartedly on the passion aspect. There is nothing as lame as plunking down $20 to watch a dead fuck!

I think the only reason some people would like to see more of it is because hardly anyone is doing it...but give us a couple hundred releases with more "tender" sex in it, and we'll all be begging for raunchy stuff again!

As usual, Tricia is so right about this. That is exactly what made so many of her scenes - including the ones she mentioned - so memorable. There's nothing I'd rather see than a series of movies directed by Tricia with that theme and authenticated by her as fitting her criteria. What a product (and extremely successful) that would be!

This means that you are going to see tenderness protrayed with all the skill of a high school play. Not for me!
