Pornography isn't art, but remember that millions of people enjoyed Shyla's videos and pictures (seriously, just on XVideos alone she has millions of views). So I'll share a little memory. The late 00s and early 10s were lean years for me. The time basically corresponded with the peak of Shyla's porn career, and I honestly feel that her scenes helped me through that frustrating, stressful and depressing period. I was so happy to meet Shyla in 2009 when she was a feature dancer at a club in Kansas City. She was as energetic and rambunctious in person as in her porn scenes. During one performance on stage, Shyla used lighted candles to heat wax which she dripped onto her body. These candles were set around the stage so she could interact with different fans. Some drunk guy thought he could be clever by blowing out one of the candles. When Shyla came around to him, the candle was extinguished and she couldn't proceed with her usual act. But without missing a beat, she took his drink and used a handful of ice cubes as a substitute for the wax. So that was my little glimpse at the crazy, whimsical aura that many of the other adult performers referred to in Pringles' compilation. Rest in peace, Shyla. [Link] |
