Hi all,
I had a new catalogue through the post today from STB (Simply The Best)based in Holland and offering delivery within the UK. Anyone heard or used them before?

I went to their website just to check them out and they have a good variety of European and American titles. I do like the big cover scans they have on their site especially useful for choosing European titles. Good range of Videorama, Max Perv, DBM titles.

Obviously you can import the US titles cheaper from the US and Euro titles from Erodvd but they are not too pricey if they ship within the UK especially for the type of material liable to get confiscated.

They seem okay to me Charlie. I have never tried them but I look forward to hearing from someone who has. Maybe if we get some good reports back about them I may try them myself...especially if they lowered their evil empires titles by a couple of quid ;o)

Another place I wanna hear about is www.adultdvdboxoffice.com . Their prices seem reasonable enough and include p & p...maybe best off in another post though!!!

Hey - looks like a good site, with plenty of titles. Not exactly cheap though. I may give them a try, as they have plenty of Magma titles. Hope they actually have them in stock, though.

Looks like people using the site need to be careful to choose between original US discs and euro versions and British R18 versions. Especially with EA titles.

Cheers for the tip-off.

Charlie, I am pretty sure I've read people talking about them in the past in the bgafd forum. A quick search should get you some comments. I haven't read it lately, though, nor have I used the company.

Oh, bollocks, here's the search results page for you.

Good point about the stock thing, Timotei. "Back order" is the bane of my life!

Gabriel, thanks for the links. People who have used them seem to be pleased although they appear to sell vhs copies of films. Not a concern for me so long as they sell original dvd's.

Flinty, I have used www.adultdvdboxoffice.com a couple of times about 2 years ago and they were slow compared to the US retailers. Don't know if they have improved the speed of their service these days because I have not used them since.

Not STB, but on a similar topic, I'm sorry to say that I'm no longer going to be ordering from EroDVD, mainly for this very reason. Their stock management is just too annoying for me to put up with, so I won't be giving them more business in future.

The problem is that you cannot tell which titles you will actually be able to get. There is no stock information when you browse their site, and there's no order status/tracking either. Worse still, EroDVD don't seem to even do any back ordering. The result of all this is that if you order 6 titles, then when the package arrives their may be only 4 discs, and a note saying "sorry we didn't have the others in stock". No back order, no nothing, you just don't get the titles.

Personally, if they don't have the title in stock and won't back order it either, then it shouldn't be listed on the website.

A shame, as EroDVD is one of those places that is good when it works.

End of Rant!

ok they are a bit pricey, but at least they supply many titles that H.M Customs would confiscate.

Thanks Lazenby

I've used STB a few times before and they do send the goods and rather quickly. They have a sale on at the moment too but I think that may be catalogue only. Everything is shipped within the UK but the VHS' are copies from DVDs or other tapes so be weary of the higher priced ones.

I agree. I've been disappointed a couple of times lately that titles I was dying to get were out of stock, with no chance of getting them in soon. To be fair Aline did update the page as quickly as possible to remove the out of stock titles but this is a cumbersome approach IMHO.

They have such good prices and are eager to please - I always find their service is good and personal too but it is definitely a small company. They need to upgrade their stock procedures etc to improve their service, but then if they spend more on the site, staff levels etc then prices inevitably go up.

Anyway, back to STB - any more comments on them?
Flinty - watch out I notice some of their Evil Angels are actually R18 versions, not EA originals.

Yes there is a sale right now, it's also on the website, DVDs at £10 and £12.

Overall the prices are not too bad for this type of "company outside the UK shipping from within the UK". Have spotted a couple of titles I had trouble finding elsewhere, I'll try them and post some feedback here.

They didn't sound too good, based on the discussion over at BGAFD. I might postpone using them until more favourable reports come in.

As briefly noted above, potential buyers should watch carefully as to whether titles like Evil Angel ones are the original US version, or an English R18 or even a european Shiva release. They are not all the same!

I'm gonna stick to US sites. IMHO, the whole idea of shipping from within the UK is not really that much of an advantage these days.

It is true if you order US material, then it's better to order from the US.

However some of the stuff STB carry is not available from the US and likely to be seized by customs if you import it from say The Netherlands (watersports/fisting/extreme S&M). That is the reason some people might prefer ordering from a company shipping from within the UK. Plus again they seem to carry a few titles that are very hard to find elsewhere...

Well, they had a couple of things I couldn't see elsewhere and they answered my email queries very quickly indeed, so I placed a test order to see how it goes. Fingers crossed I shall report in due course.

I haven't had any Shiva DVDs, but their versions of Evil Angel movies were usually the same as the US version, and generally good quality in my experience. However, I've heard the R18 DVDs of EA movies can be poorer. I don't like it when companies offer "XXX" hardcore, then sell R18s which, though fully HC, can still be edited.

Okay, just to update you on this company.
I placed a test order for a couple of discs.
Got one yesterday, with a note to say that if I was expecting another, and it's not there, then it's out of stock and should follow. If you follow!
The colour sleeve was sent separately.
The box will be sent separately too, apparently.
Does this make sense?
To me, it's an unnecessary expense and unduly cautious, given it's all posted within the UK anyway.
So quick service (about 1 week inc. weekend), but it's "backordered" again. The bane of my porn ordering life.

BTW Their postage is £1 a disc, if you pay by credit card. Other payment methods are post free? Does this make any sense either?

To update on this again, I got another letter from them today (as well as a separate package with one empty DVD box, an idea I find completely daft) to say the disc I was due was out of stock, wouldn't be back in and they issued me a credit note (which I don't like) for the value.

Anyone else tried them?

I don't want back orders and credit notes...

I guess I'll E-mail them first enquiring wether what I want to order is actually in stock.

Joey, just to finish my little story off, I dropped them a line and they sent me an alternate title tout suite.
I thought they were okay though - they do seem to answer emails quickly, which is a good sign to me. But I agree, credit notes are not an appropriate way to go - I'd rather have the choice.

Well to be honest i would say addvd is the best i've seen so far for international shipping.
They are really cheap. Not only the DVD's are way cheaper then somewhere else, but he shipping is almost 50% cheaper as Adultdvdempire, or other shops.
go ahead check them out.

I don`t know if I`m regurgitating information that someone else has already posted here.
I e-mailed Aline Bakhuis who works at their Customer services regarding a query about stock information on their website (www.erodvd.nl) and I received this following reply.........

Hi Dai,

>We have changed our site, so our site does contain only titles which are

>Thanks in advance for your help.

Also, she was very quick to reply to my e mail, within a few hours. very helpful indeed.

I have never ordered from erodvd.nl before but I am certainly going to give them a try.

I ordered from Simply the Best late last year and I wouldnt bother again. My order took months to arrive, and it was mainstream material.

They do advertise some pretty extreme titles, but Im not sure they carry anything in stock. You will receive it eventually though. Or a nice letter from Customs of course.

I think you would do better at ERO

veracity,

I have never used STB. I had been contemplating using them for the more extreme titles. I was worried after receiving a letter from HM after an intercepted title from erodvd. Especially after the change in law last year and also someone reporting on how HM came to their house after several intercepts.

So slow deliveries of a month are a no no. But I am puzzled by your comment on HM letters by ordering from STB. I thought they posted their DVDs from inside the UK. A main reason fro using STB. Where was your DVD shipped from?

Another problem I have with STB. They crash my IE browser. I have to use Opera to look at their site.

I'm not sure how useful this is, as I have only purchased VHS from them (I still haven’t quite got around to getting a DVD player yet!), but it should give you an idea of what STB are like to deal with:-

I have purchased a number of tapes (all VHS are copies, as already stated) from them over the last few years, and have always received the items ordered. Delivery times vary. On the couple of occasions I was disappointed by the quality of the copy, they sent replacements post haste, both of which were fine.

Emails have been answered very quickly (as far as I can remember, within 24 hrs).

On the one occasion I placed a credit card order, I received a written confirmation of the transaction through the mail prior to the order arriving, as well as email confirmation at the time of the order.

If you wish to play it safe for items that may be liable to theft by Customs, then STB are to be recommended. I receive their (approx.) monthly, hard copy catalogue, and while they have a small (relative to the large, on-line companies) number of titles available each time, they consistently cover a very wide range of subjects.

Given my generally very positive report, I guess I should state that I have no connection with the company, other than as a satisfied customer.

BTW, I can also recommend ‘Tabor’ as a totally reliable supplier (again, from their hard copy catalogue, for VHS) – They are not particularly cheap, but for certain titles (they have had a number of the great ‘First Class’ WS titles) they are also very good.

Hope that helps.
