Has anyone realized the companies that have garnered the most attention and success the last coupla years have had, in some way or another, some connection with Elegant Angel and Patrick Collins?
Examples: Dion - RLD - worked as General Manager and director for some time. Alex Ladd - DVSX - Partner in Ground Zero Ent., which produced movies for Arch Angel, an Elegant subsidiary. Greg Alves and Mike Quasar - Zero Tolerance - Greg was GM and Quaze was cameraman for Ground Zero. Andre Madness - Rosebud - started at Elegant, was GM and director. Mason - PXP - Made her bones at Elegant. And of course, Tom Byron - Evolution Rob Black - Extreme
O.K. , eight degrees.(Nine if you count Mike Stefano (PXP) who more or less spawned from Extreme.)
So I think we owe a big debt of gratitude to Mr. Collins for providing a launching pad for some pretty outstanding porn. I know we've said some harsh things to each other, but you gotta respect what the man has done.
It's funny, everyone around him went uphill while he only went downhill ;-)
I personally wish Evil Angel would take over Elegant Angel, I'm sure Elegant could be on top again if Stagliano would run it and bring in some new directors starting with Max Hardcore :-)
I agree Tommy,Patrick helped out allot of us, and I'm truely gratiful to him for helping me get started,But damn Tommy you don't have to do such a great job, your stuff truely looks awesome,I'm so happy for you.
Thanks D., but I DO have to do a great job just to keep up, as the fine quality of RLD, PXP and others have raised the bar for all of us to be successful!
Hey Jules, you think Patrick would like to have you back?
If Patrick was to have you all back, what a line up. One Week Tommy One Week Jules One Week Vince, remember,I brought Vince to Elegant One Week Alex ladd,Mike Quasar,Van,Tiffany, and much more.

Very cool thread. I was at Elegant at the same time as Tommy, Rob, Tiffany, Greg Alves, Nicky Starks and Van Damage (although I haven't become a director yet like all of them). It was great bunch of people to hang out with.
Only one thing though... I thought the Six Degrees thing went more like this... there's Six Degrees of Separation between Tera Patrick and Patrick Collins. (even though this is only Five Degrees of Separation in my amateur example):
Tera Patrick worked for Joey Silvera early in her career. Joey Silvera directed Tricia Devereaux early in her career. Tricia Devereaux worked with Tom Byron. Tom Byron directed for Patrick Collins.
Well Tricia, if you did become a director, what sort of films would you direct?
There's a spin-off thread from this one surely. Only one degree of separation between the 'Patrick Collins thread' and the 'Tricia Deveraux Director' thread. Now that's what I call synchronicity.
I got your sixth degree. Tom Byron dated Tera Patrick. (twice!)

If Patrick Collins is so great, why does his porn absolutely suck? You guys are giving him too much credit. Hey invested in you because you guys are all top quality directors. He wasn't smart enough to keep you so screw him. I don't even get bothered watching Elegant Angel.
This thread is to funny and has me busting up laughing. I'll leave at that instead of brewing the truth in how I really feel. I'll just say whats up to my dogs Dion & Tommy...
As a fan I notice two things: first he can't seem to retain people, and second, Elegant seems to run hot & cold. There are stretches where Elegant produces good product and stretches where they're MIA.
I've assumed for a while that Patrick hires some good people and then goes away for a while, and good product appears. Then he comes back and everyone quits and a drought ensues. I certainly don't know what's really going on but that's the way seems.
Right now Elegant is in a deep, deep freeze. I can't remember the last time I looked forward to an upcoming Elegant release. The local store seems to only rarely stock their product.
The only other studio in as much trouble is Anabolic, and they seem to be recovering, although it's not clear they'll ever get back to where they were.
I agree. From what I hear and know I don't necessarily think it's just a Patrick Collins thing, but more of the entire porn community is separated by at MOST 6 degrees.

Mathematicians have long had an Erdös number, which is their "degrees of separation" from the mathematician Paul Erdös. See this . If you wrote a paper with Erdös your number is 1. If you wrote a paper with someone whose Erdös number is 1 then your number is 2. And so forth...
Closer to home is the Bacon number, which is the "degrees of separation" of actors from Kevin Bacon. See this. You can ask it to compute the Bacon number for people in the IMDB: Ron Jeremy has a Bacon number of 2 (appeared in Reindeer Games with Charlize Theron, who appeared in Trapped with Kevin Bacon).
As for Steph's suggestion of few degrees of separation within porn: of the 606,429 people in IMDB, 84% have a Bacon number of 3 or lower, and 98.65% have a number no more than 4. The average Bacon number across the entire IMDB is only 2.9(!).
The separation within porn seems likely to be smaller since there is a smaller core of active people and they produce so much more than mainstream Hollywood.
