Not that DVDtalk is uninteresting...I still spend hours a day there. But, this small (so far) community reminds me of the days when DVDtalk was under 1000 members. It was a place where everybody knew everyone else. I think there is still a great deal of community at DVDtalk. I just like the small membership here so far. It kind of makes me want a few non-adult forums here, so we could all share in the people side of things, but not have to talk about XXX all the time. It feels a little strange to be talking to some familiar people, but under the context of adult titles. I remember when DVDtalk was considering having a forum for old members only, but most people felt it was unfair. Anyway...just my opinion on the feel of this new and wonderful site.

RJason:
Ever see the movie or read the play called Inherit the Wind? One of the most memorable lines from the work went something like: "Advances in science all come with a price. We learn to fly, but the clouds smell of gasoline and the birds lose their mystery."
I love the Internet (God knows I spent enough time here!), but my single biggest complaint is that it killed the community atmosphere inherent in small, local bulletin board systems. Gone are the days when you'd be debating a topic with some guy in the message bases, downloading a file he had uploaded, and kicking the tar out of him in online door games (Yankee Trader, anyone?)
Since you had such a small number of users, you'd bump into them everywhere on the board. You'd get to know their personalities and quirks, and they became like friends. No longer true. I think that's true of America in general.
DVD Talk has its bevy of regular posters, but it has a very large active community, so you don't really notice. Yeah, it's great that the most active subset of posters from DVD Talk has commuted here, but sadly, I expect an influx of users as ADT gains prominence. And let's not forget about the onslaught of advertising that's sure to come any day now...
Make the most of the community while you can!

David,
The community will grow here. I'm sure that Steph will do a good job managing the atmosphere, the memebership and the advertisers to make sure that this is an enjoyable forum for everyone. As for the advertisers....Steph has demonstrated good taste and style, I'm sure she won't let this place turn into a sticky floor site.
Besides, she has picked some excellent Forum Masters (moderators) to help keep this place in line.

I also think that as this site continues to grow it will keep the quality that dvd talk had for the most part.. Until that is that an Adlut DVD site is crashed and shut down by Adult DVD Talk members trying to cash in on a bargin before the site closes...
However time will tell

Boy, I was busy for a few days and the next thing I know, StephDunn quits Divadee and starts a new venture. Well...
The good news is that she'll be more available in the forums. YAY!
Hopefully, the trolls will stay away or Steph's contingent of personal cyber-guards will have to throw them into the void.

The whole plan was to get you guys here first to set the foundation. Then we bring on the rest of the Internet world. If we need 3 masters per forum then so it will be. We'll do what it takes to keep ADT fun and useful. I also think it's very important that we get as many industry people here as possible (that I will do.)

The Troll Patrol is ever vigilant. And the Spam Squad, too...
Everyone's been nice and friendly so far, and I'm hoping it'll stay that way when the New Forum Smell wears off. Let's keep our fingers crossed...

I sympathize with you and I completely understand where you are coming from. I do not visit DVDTalk as often as I used to because of its high noise factor now.

However, I take solace from the fact that the spirit of the small community that once was in DVDTalk still prevails on its IRC channel. Drop in almost any night and there will always be a few regulars chatting about what bonds us all ... DVDs, movies, coupons and bargains. Seems like old days ......

Drop in when you get a chance.

I haven't been visiting DVD Talk as much as I used to, as well. It seems as if everyone there complains about the way Geoff runs the site, and this ruins it for those of us who enjoy the forums there.
I do still try to get in for about half an hour each day and read the posts I find interesting, but it seems those are fewer each week.
Of course, I now have this forum, and I love it!

Hopefully, just by the nature of the business this forum is representing (ie. adult fare), that will be self-limiting in the number of folks that show up here.
On the flip side, I understand Steph needs a horde of perverts...I mean people here to help refund her recently cashed in 401k....
So...I'm going to enjoy the atmosphere for as long as it lasts....then start flaming the shit out of all the negative pisshead bastards when they start screwing up this site!!!!!.
Have a nice day!
....and j/k about the above...

Hi everybody! I guess I haven't been reading DVD Talk too often either, because I didn't find out about this site until today. Mainly just due to heavy schoolwork - I still read the forum but don't have time to post. This is nice though, a bunch of one-handed web surfers talking about the wonderful world of adult entertainment. Hopefully I'll be able to keep up with this forum. It'll be nice to talk about porno for a change too. Anyways, I have an 8 page paper to write, so I should get to work.

Another DVDTalker added to the ranks. I saw the banner on DVDTalk last week during the day (at work), and kept forgetting to visit at night. Well, now I'm here, and I have to say that I think this is going to be great. Let the good times roll!
Steph, I tried to get my wife to join, but she's gonna lurk for awhile. Here's hoping
