Why is it some people, say a porn performer, looks so much taller in her pictures than she really is? I have recently discovered and went goo-gaa over Caroline Reese. In the one scene I've seen her in and her box covers she looks like Wonder Woman...well over 6'
I go to her listing at LADirect modeling and she's listed as 5'0" and under 100 pounds!
Guage for example, always looked tiny to me and that was confirmed when she emerged from a suitcase, yes a regular sized wheeled suitcase to start a scene.
I am so confused.

In real life we use various clues to judge someone's height, in particular we compare their height to our own. On the screen such clues are absent or deceptive. All that is left is either to judge by her body proportions (eg how long are her legs compared to her torso?), which is a very imperfect science and particularly open to camera distortions, or to judge by her height compared to her co-star's, which, since so many of the men in porn are themselves on the short side, is also likely to give a misleading impression.

I have that scene on lockdown.....that was too funny. That babe had to be about 4ft 5inches tall and she fit into that suitcase.
Things are never as they seem. Gauge.....in a suitcase...ha,ha.....!

When I see most pornstars in person one of the things that I always find interesting is many of the girls and guys are much shorter than they look. But the girl's height isn't as surprising as most of the guys height. Many of the guys I just assumed were over 6 foot tall are around 5'8" and shorter. Also, some pornstars breasts that seem so huge on the screen don't seem so big in person. Lastly, it's true what they say about the camera adding 10 pounds. Many of the girls don't seem as curvy in person and some I thought were a bit "heavier" look thinner in person.

Just keep the camera 12" off the floor and shoot up, makes even the shortest girl tower over everything in the room. This is a great effect often used in those day over 18 movies. After all who would be interested in cute little pixies in a young girl movie when you could have some big basketball players.

People are always surprised when they meet me for the first time... I guess in photos and on camera I look really tall.. but I'm only 5'3" & 92-95 lbs...

I think porn shoes might help with the illusion. Many scenes seem to feature girls wearing enormously heeled shoes. And something they are on throughout the scene.

Its not just in porn that its difficult to tell size. You might be surprised to learn the height of Mel Gibson,for instance.

As someone said it is mostly camera angle but in many cases some girls are really well proportioned and they look taller than they actually are especially because many male performers are rather short.
Sasha Knox was like 5' 2" but she looked about 5' 7" because of her well proportioned body. Ellen Saint is another. She is about 5' 6" but she looks to be about 5' 8". But she does not have the benefit of short male performers because Euro male performers are often tall.
