If you care about Fox News there's no app available for smart TVs. You can only get your conservative propaganda through cable or satellite providers. The internet is not an option. I think Fox simply doesn't care for "smart" TVs or smarts of any sort.  [Link] |

I bought one of the Firesticks when Amazon introduced them, for practically nothing. i used it a little bit to watch Amazon Prime stuff, but didn't realize until recently that Amazon doesn't have them completely locked down. I found some online guide to install Kodi (former XBMC) on it, and have been using it a lot more; works great.Sorry Beerfan, don't know anything about that particular TV or extended warranties for TVs in general. | zambi Senior Member 1451 Posts 3/10 | Posted - Jul 2 2015 : 4:23PM I have a Samsung Smart TV and I have to say I'm not impressed with the Smart Hub stuff. I think the whole "Smart TV" stuff is just a gimmick or trick to provide manufacturers a backdoor into your TV via the internet to allow them to obtain info about you which they can then sell to marketing companies or use to create targeted ads for you. For example, the past year Samsung has run into trouble for posting unwanted ads on people's TVs, secretly recording voice converstations (under the guise of voice commands), etc. They also want to sell you apps but let's face it .. none of the apps are very compelling .. its all games, news, and weather. They cannot do something like interactive apps which overlay stuff on live TV programs. For example, imagine an app for sports that allows you do stuff for your fantasy football account etc. Any kind of interactive app overlaying a live TV program would be a copyright violation and lead to lawsuit from the owner (e.g. NFL, NBA, MLB). Lot of the "smart" TV features are simply a duplication of features found in Tivo or similar setop boxes. For example, Samsung provides their own TV schedule guide and program reccs similar to what Tivo does but not as good. It's also kind of useless also since most people don't watch free broadcast TV via antenna which is what the Samsung tuner can receive. Instead most people require a cable/SAT setop box to watch channels they subscribe to from somebody like Comcast, Verizon, Time Warner, etc. So the features Samsung provides for TV viewing are useless to me. Then there is the built-in internet browser feature which on the surface looks like a great feature to have. But after trying to use it you have a major let down. It's way too slow and unresponsive to use. Better off using your phone, tablet, or laptop. Don't get me wrong. Its a great TV for normal TV usage. It's the Smart TV stuff that is overhyped and not worth as much as you think. I bought mine cheap waiting for it to go on sale. It's a very good TV. But the Smart TV feature stuff I rarely use if it all. One feature I do like is the Smart View 2.0 stuff which allows me to stream video to my smartphone. So if I'm watching a game or TV program and need to go to the bathroom I don't have to use Tivo and pause the video I can continue watching on my phone while I'm taking a dump. ;-) You can also remotely control your TV from the phone, but its actually more useful to control the Tivo box remotely to have it record something while you are away from the TV.
