I thought Drew would have already issued a statement about it. I'm just curious.

I see that now. But I don't read every thread, I don't have time. I don't know how the mods do it, what with posters obsessed with some single subject and unable to write coherently in English, even in cases where English is actually their mother tongue.

Who reads The Elements of Style by Strunk and White anymore? Certainly not me. Way to restrictive and not reflective of actual language usage. Certainly words don't flow if you follow their rules. I think I still have a copy somewhere.

So that is what Drew and Bornyo alluded to.

And DAPs rule!!!

Sorry I didn't issue a statement yet. The removal of images is a work in progress. I don't have a definitive plan just yet but it was easy to remove the images because that code was still in there from last time we went through this.

I did.
And I still use what I learned.

I'm sure you pedants here have noticed that I spell out numbers less than 10 (i.e. one, two, three.... 10, 11, 12, etc.)

Yes, it's a small nicety, like the British army having high tea in north africa during WW II, and using linen napkins at home.

Embedded images are not worth bothering with anyway. I pretty much stopped bothering a long time ago.

Oh and I agree with skronk about Shrub.

Be that as it may, there is plenty of blame to go around for this.

"I am proud to be a cosponsor of this significant legislation. The Senate passed an earlier version of this bill by unanimous consent on May 4, nearly two months ago. Since then, Senators Specter and Leahy have conducted bipartisan negotiations with the House, which had passed a different version." (Emphasis added.) Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid

According to GovTrack.us,
"Mar 8, 2006: This bill passed in the House of Representatives by voice vote. A record of each representative's position was not kept.
Jul 20, 2006: This bill passed in the Senate by Voice Vote. A record of each representative's position was not kept."

Looking at the full text of the legislation (text/pdf), it's a classic example of congressmen deviously throwing something into a bill that's full of other stuff that no one will ever dare risk voting against.

I believe they break their own rules withing that book, although to prove it I'd have to subject myself to reading it again.

How long before this becomes suspect:

(.!.)
).(
( v )
\!/
[/code]

After all: who knows how old those parentheses are? :-)

Drew, when posting in a thread, any embedded images are visible. If this whole issue is a big deal, you might want to fix that.

BTW, is linking directly to images also a no-no again?

I'll fix that in a few minutes. I can see how that would be confusing.

Linking to images is OK from what I was told by an FSC attorney. Text links are fine.
