1. Always be professional. Watch when shooting to ensure you don't capture equipment, crew, or any area not intended to be in the shot.
2. You haven't specified what kind of adult material you will be shooting. If it is all-sex, don't try to throw in a plot. Viewers of all-sex material want to see the sex. If it is vignettes, create something of substance for the vignette. Don't just throw together something to call it a vignette. If that is all you are going to do, make it an all-sex movie. Shoot actual vignette material to create a short story. If you are doing feature (plotted) movies, create a real plot. Don't just give some cheap connection material, if that is all you are going to do make an all-sex movie.
3. Have a reason for your adult material to exist. In other words, what makes your material different than everyone else's. Beyond just you being in New Mexico and having different actors and actresses. What makes your material stand out from everything else out there. Think about this with each production you make.
4. Get a Twitter. Be active with it. I've found smaller productions due to Twitter. Also, don't get your Twitter suspended, you will lose your followers and they may not find your new one.
5. Find some reviewers who review similar material to yours and give them screeners. Screeners can be digital these days they don't have to be physical media. Expect honest reviews. Pay attention to what they say and try to work on the issues they point out (or at least reasonable issues -- some issues may just be hang ups of that reviewer, we all have them). There are a slew of reviewers here. XCritic has a slew as well. This page http://www.iafd.com/stats.asp lists some of the more prolific reviewers. Bear in mind some have retired and some may review different kinds of material than you are creating.
Finally, I know this has been stated already but it is essential, make something worth watching.
