| RandomPrecision Senior Member Enjoy! 8175 Posts 3/06 | I downloaded Freemake Video Converter. Obviously, it's free so I didn't reckon I had anything to lose. I wanted to try converting some home movies that I've been trying to convert forever and have never been able to get really good quality (with deinterlacing) and audio that was in perfect sync. I usually get bored with it after awhile and give up. Anyway, I thought I had it. I was converting DV files to H.264 with AAC audio with two pass encoding and was getting lovely picture quality. Deinterlacing is apparently done automatically with this converter so that's one thing I didn't have to fiddle with. I set one of the movies to convert and went to bed. Next day, I get up and actually watch with the sound on. Audio is ever so slightly out of sync. Obviously, this is a very basic encoder so you can't do any major adjustments. It's annoying though. Does anyone have any idea what it is about movies from a Panasonic Mini DV unit from about 10 years ago that makes the movies so damn hard to deal with? Even when I play them in their original format they stutter (Which is why I'm even bothering to try to reencode them). [Link] |
