Does anyone have any info or rumors about what happened between Krystal and ClubJenna? I've noticed that "Krystal Therapy" hasn't been promoted as heavily as, say, "McKenzie Made" or "Sophia Syndrome". Was this a bitter break-up? The only official word I've been able to find was Jay's comment in his blog about Steal being a "flake". Does anyone have any insight on this drama?

I have no clue, but I do know that Krystal Steal didnt always seem to enjoy being in porn so maybe she "forced" her way out of the contract. I mean, she has said MANY times in interviews that she wanted to get out of porn by the age of 25 or so.

It's kinda weird if she decides to come back, where she will go. Let's be honest she really doesnt "fit" the critieria that so many porn companies want in girls these days, i.e. she wont do any Anal and doesnt like Facial Cumshots.

I think she got burnt out on making porn. Plus, Club Jenna girls have to make public appearances frequently and I don't think she liked it. Last year at Erotica LA, she looked like she couldn't wait to get away.

Generally happens for most anyways. Most aren't even around a couple years. Quite a few, maybe even the majority, do a bunch of scenes and are out in a few months.

Seems the porn industry does not have many anchors in terms of Contract Girls now. What happened? Vivid and Wicked had a solid line up then all of a sudden a revolving door started. Club Jenna seems a bit stable but maybe because it is still a young studio. What happened to TeraVision? Nikki Benz was there and then gone as fast, same as Lucy Lee.
Was Krystal only with Club Jenna or was she a Vivid Girl beforehand or just did scenes for all studios?
I miss Sydnee Steele, Stephanie Swift, Serenity and Alexa Rae with Wicked they were great and a solid set of girls.
Jill Kelly had a solid line up of Contract Girls as well for a bit Jenna Haze, Haven, Tabitha Stevens. Man these days it is hard to keep track who is in and who is out, no pun intended, of the industry.
What is Nikita Denise doing?

You're correct. there are no "anchors" or SuperStars left in porn. Jenna Jameson was the last one, but is all but retired, and there's no clear cut successor...which the industry needs, even though the companies don't want to admit it.

Also, I've been hearing talk from industry people about a financial "depression," too--meaning not enough sales. This so-called depression accounts for the company employee layoffs & consolidations that's spoken about on other threads.

But to more directly address what you're talking about: in my opinion, I believe there's been a mass exiting of Porn Performers over the past 12-18 months, not only due to the lack of money to pay the six figures Contract Girls are use to, but also because of the continued "upping the ante" on extreme sex that the producers/directors insist they have to do in order to sell product. Every director wants to put his female performer with two, three or more guys in every scene, she has to be willing to do anal/double anal, dp's, take facials, and drink the cum of strange men.

Vivid Video, that use to have a reputation as "performer friendly," now seems determined to putting it's young stars in scenes only with guys that have huge dicks. Vivid Contract Girl, Monique Alexander, who is waif-thin, has already worked with Rocco Siffredi and Manuel Ferrera, and is scheduled to do anal and IR, probably paired with more Big Dicks. Monique, in a BTS interview on a Vivid sexvid, mentions how sore she was days after working with Manuel. So much for "performer friendly."

Given this trend, many of the "glamour girls" of Vivid, Club Jenna, Wicked, and Digitial Playground are either reducing their workload, or turning away from the biz altogether until the more demanding and extreme sex trend ends--and it will.

My guess is we'll have to resign ourselves to just seeing Krystal Steal when she Feature Dances, and hope that the new Playboy/Club Jenna Production Company has the money, and know how, to produce sexvids that will keep any new "A List" performers in the industry.

Interesting post Derek....Jenna's reign as #1 is a topic I've been pondering for quite a while now. Every decade has its defining star, such as Seka in the 70's and Ginger Lynn in the 80's, and Jenna was undeniably that star for the 90's.

But here's the thing...we're now more than halfway through the 00's, and no-one has stepped up to the plate to take Jenna's crown. Tera and Teagan got close, but neither are realistic contenders now IMHO. The big studios need to start looking for 'who's next', because there's going to be a gaping void to fill once Jenna decides to call it a day, and there doesn't appear to be too many outstanding candidates for the role of 'next torch bearer'. As far as I can see, Jenna will be #1 until she decides she doesn't want to be #1 anymore.

The above is all pretty much self-evident, but I never really gave much thought to the 'Why?' until I read Derek's post, and for my money he makes a lot of salient points, and I'm definitely interested in hearing other folks opinions on this issue.

I tend to disagree with all of this. The most defining star of the 70s for me was Marilyn Chambers. Seka got started in the late 70s and stopped in the early 80s. Ginger Lynn was great in her day but the most defining 80s star was Vanessa Del Rio who began in '74 and ended in '86. Ginger was around the first time 84-86. As for Jenna Jameson I've never understood the fascination with that woman. So vastly overrated it's not even funny. But I heard she was a little 'too' friendly with the fans when at a particular book signing in my city. Sorry I missed that chance to meet her. But She can thank her lucky stars to people like Howard Stern for giving her so much exposure and E Channel. I need something more than a skinny little blond chick with boobs bigger than her head to call the best. The 90s had a number of fine stars who were on an even keel Id say. not one better than the other. Just each possessing different attributes that appealed to different people.

Ok well in defense of Jenna, as being a fan, just like in entertainment it is who you surround yourself with and work with that helps launch your career. Like in Latin music Shakira didn't all of a sudden appear with an english album and be big, she had the right people working with her to take her to that step.
Jenna was the new girl with the hot sweet girl next door looks that the industry seen. Wicked had her in the beginning but during that time I believe Jenna did have some personal issues and being the fact she put out alot of movies for Wicked fast, I think she was starting to burn out, Vivid was next and then she took a break. Smart woman, as her popularity skyrocketed and she was not even making a movie yet. Came back with a deal partnered with Vivid, as she was launching CJ.
Sorry but Jesse Jane is overrated and one thing Jenna has on alot of starlets is she can act not just fuck on camera.
As for Derek's reply, makes 100% sense. With the fact that this day and age porn is all extreme and the trend is saturate with gonzo stuff which is cheap to produce, it is not selling as much.
Pirates and New Devil In Miss Jones are two excellent features that wore needs to be produced like those movies and they will sell alot.
Now sure remember porn is like hollywood, different types of movies for different fans. I like features, have no use for gonzo as for me watching 5 gonzo movies they are all the same. Girl gags on dick, guy slaps her face, she does double anal while blowing a guy, etc. gets to be the same scens in all the movies.
Now there are so many studios coming out that the market is saturated.
Soon again it will be Vivid, Wicked, Digital Playground, Hustler, VCA and Adam & Eve as the players.
But each studio needs some anchors for selling as like it was mentioned seems a mass exodus of women leaving the industry so fast that it is no wonder Jenna J and Jenna Haze still sell well because they are the only mainstays still around doing stuff that are household names to fans.
And Jenna J is still popular as ever as her line ups at signings are always a best bet to be the biggest and longest.
She is why the industry became so mainstream and is why it has made lots of money.
Now if only in the 80's with the Lynns, the industry would have known where it would have been heading, Amber Lynn would have been just a big. But then again porn was much more taboo in the 70's and 80's than 90's to now.
Sydnee Steele was great to watch in scenes because she could act and her sex scenes were hot.

I can appreciate your love of jenna. But you're almost totally wrong. Porn has always been saturated in one way or another. It goes through periods of glutton with subpar product. The home video saturation has been on since about the mid-to-late 80s when features switched from being shot for theaters and were shot on video tape exclusively. Since then anybody who can hold and aim a video camera has been making movies.

Porn being mainstream was reached before Jenna Jameson came into the business. It started by being accepted in the 1970s(going to theaters) and accelerated when home video entertainment became available. It probably peaked somewhere in the 1990s consequently when Jameson came into the business. It is mainstream in spite of her. Not because of her. I'll wager that more average people could tell you who Linda Lovelace was than could tell you who Jenna Jameson is. I dont take nothing from JJ. If she had what a segment of the audience liked she should've profited from it. That's what they do in mainstream movies. It doesn't make her the best just because she makes big money But the labels that she's given for doing this & doing that is a bunch whooey. And a lot of these falsehood were started by people like Howard Stern. I love Stern but you can't take verbatim anything pornstars say when they go on his or any of that type of show. Many of them lie to him and the audience. A porn director, Jonathan Morgan, said about ten years ago, there has never been a porn movie that has not made it's money back. Of course that's true. It has many outlets of distribution ie: home video, hotels, ships, foreign market, cable tv, satellite you name it. Money will be made. Porn existed & profiteered immensely long before Jenna Jameson or J. Haze came along. Let's be real.

Perhaps another reason Krystal left is that she wasn't willing to listen CJ's advisors. Jenna is where she's at because of her willingness to listen to advice. Many porn girls are the opposite and are head strong. Look at Chasey Lain. Beautiful girl, had a ton of money spent on promoting her, started out a year later than Jenna, but is mired in personal problems. Had she gone along with the program Vivid set up for her, she'd be in better shape.

Don't get me wrong...I'm not saying these girls were the best of their respective generations, just the ones who were the biggest 'names' of their particular era. For example, there are girls out there who I think look better than Jenna and perform better than Jenna, but they're nowhere near being the star that Jenna is.

The 80's had alot of censorship with porn, and there were not all these Adult Video stores. Here in Canada it was not until about 1990 when our first Adult Video Stores in Toronto opened up, Adults Only Video, and the Ontario Censor Board cut out all cumshots for a few years.
Tne best way to get uncut porn was with the big C-Band KU Band satellite dishes when American XXXtasy was around. But I believe when Bush Sr came into power he killed that off and then I believe when TEN launched they were originally out of Ottawa but not sure.
Anyhow Porn was less acceptable sociallly in the 80's and early 90's and now the past 10 years it has become more mainstream where even if you do not watch porn, people know who Jenna Jameson, Ron Jeremy is.
Many will bash Jenna, hey to each their own, but she was the contract girl that was and is still the best selling. Her Wicked flicks I am sure still sell well and she left them long ago. Wicked keeps making comps of her scenes too, so that shows that like her or hate her, she still sells. And if she is so awful then why does she sell so much? Bad taste? Not in the least. I can sit through any of her flicks no problem as her sex scenes be it girl/girl to taking on two guys in the past. She is still hot and is not boring.
MO I will watch Jenna in Bella Loves Jenna over a gonzo flick anyday. Watching chicks gag on cock does nothing for me. But like I said to each their own. Now everything sells in porn.

If this thread is morphing into "Where is Jenna Jameson's Successor?" then we need to ask ourselves "What Ever Happened to Jesse Jane?"

I have long believed that 5' tall Jesse is as unstoppable as a Sherman Tank, and more determined than any 50 other girls in the biz to be Top Girl. But since her marriage to Rick Patrick last year she seems to be in "low gear." Yes, she has that Playboy cable gig, with modest success; and makes appearances at industry events; but, she & Rick moved back to Oklahoma, and although she has a new sexvid just out, I don't hear much about her working on new product for her employer, Digital Playground.

My thinking is that she still wants the "Jenna Spot" in the industry; but her strategy for getting there may now include waiting for some of the current industry "changes" (company consolidations, VOD, mobile devices) to settle before she makes her move.

We'll have to wait & see.

you put your finger on it. That's Canada. It's a whole different story down here in the U.S. But since you're Canadian you can vouch for Canada better than most of us Americans.

Maybe you all can explain to me why feature companies still need anchors and contract girls? Why can’t they still be successful by following the mode of Gonzo companies like Evil Angel? Meaning instead of focusing all their time, energy, and money on putting together a stable of talent, why can't they spend those recourses on (and only on) building a great line up of directors.

Everyone has their own theories on how to run their companies but right now, I hear that gonzo companies are so saturated because everyone is doing it, it's driving the wholesale cost down and lots of businesses could be gone in a matter of time. Contract girls are hired to represent a company and its image. It's a lot more than just having sex in a video. I think the smartest thing to do in this business is to diversify your portfolio, do a bit of everything so in case, one genre suffers which let's say gonzo at the moment, then at least you have other options to fall back on such as features for example.

I just saw Jesse Jane and Teagan at Erotica LA. They came for the FAME Awards and were sparkling and sweet enough to pose for every photographer that asked.

Jesse Jane's moving back to Oklahoma wasn't a case of her pulling back from career, it was about living in a place she was comfortable. She still makes trips to LA to shoot and travels to make appearances for the company. I don't know if you are knowledgable about LA, but the average house is $500,000. There are many performers who only come to LA to shoot. Why pay $500,000 for an LA fixer upper house, when you can get a brand new house with acres somewhere else in the USA? I don't blame Jesse Jane for moving back to Oklahoma and would love to move the hell out of LA myself.

You want reason why Jenna was and still is So Popular, here it is...

1) She was, and still is one of the best looking girl in the biz, on a face point i mean, one of the most pretty

2) She have fake boobs, but there huge AND look not that fake, one of the best fake rack i ever saw, there not that hard ballons lot of girl have.

3) She came at a very good times, when Gonzo stuff(Anal, Swallow, DP, mini-bukkake, gaging) was not so much in demand, so she did not had to do that thing.

Then her name was done by the 2000's and she didn't need to go Gonzo or such because she was already a huge star.

Had to that the way she can act, her promoting for adult stuff and all, well you got your answer.

Lot of girls of today could have be real huge star back in the 90, think about Mercedez or Lexie Marie, they where contract girl at vivid, both really pretty with fake boobs but very nicely done, and they are not see as big star. Because for todays standards they can't match the likes of Hillary Scott for exemple.

As for Jesse Jane, nobody will EVER and i mean EVER make me beleive that she could be the next queen of porn...despite doing only the feature stuff and all, she may be pretty but not the prettiest, and her boobs look gross to me.

One contender in my opinion was Tera Patrick, she could really have been the next queen, but she got her boobs(that really did not need it) go fake, she now perform only with "Mister Tatoo" , for me in the last years she have go down completely. Too bad, she had a lot ...

About Krystal, well she is very pretty, and these day she is less disgusted by cum :P but well she dosen't do swallow, anal or such, Jules Jordan shoot her a couples of times because she was really pretty and im sure he loved to cover her face, but then she did not had much place to go, for some reason she never was a real vivid girl, appaeared in a few movies thats it, the 2 place left where Digital Playgound and Club Jenna for the soft style, she choose one and it seem it blowed, maybe she decide to retire...

Anyway we will see in 2010 wich girl will take the crowl, but in the moment i think there no serious candidate, Tera would need a serious push to claim that place, i think she could still even with the fake boobs, but her performance would had to be off the top, its too early for me to think about Hillary, she may be in top for the moment, but who know what will hapen in a few years, and she only came not long ago...

One thing im sure, the next "queen" will be a gonzo performer, like i said lexie and mercedez are top notch looking women, and could not came close of that.

Maybe Sophia Rossi have a chance, if her first movie can finally come out(its getting ridiculous how long it take and still being push) maybe she could ... i say that cause she said in an interview she was really open and all, maybe its just talk we don't know, but still... i think she could not think about it if she keep being at club jenna took, especially since playboy bought that, too soft... but only the future will tell, at least she got the look, now we need to see the performance...

It will be a long while before someone does come along and Jenna passes the torch to.
What amazes me in all entertainment is when someone does get huge, a big backlash starts up and many follow and start to bash the person. makes me laugh because that person still ends up the top seller, big box office draw, big movie seller, but you wonder if they are considered so bad an untalented etc, why such a big draw?
Because many people like to follow the leader as fans and jump on a band wagon of bashing it seems.
Hey I may have become a Jenna Jameson fan late in her career, but I will always stick by and be a fan. I have now bought all her feature movies on dvd, my main priority when collecting porn dvd's. And even though Gonzo is shoved down our throats by about 80% of porn now and all the internet porn, I am still not a huge fan of it. Might watch it here and there but seems to me though Jenna is way more entertaining to watch in her movies than girl after girl getting facials, spitting out cum, gagging on cum, getting slapped around. But like I said before to each their own. is what makes porn popular with diverse genres.
When the next "IT Girl" comes along, she will never be as popular nor sell as much as Jenna. Like all genres in entertainment, porn is entertainment, someone becomes the big thing and no one usually matches them but does come close.
Tera Patrick I think could have been up there, but I think her decision to drop DP and move to her own studio and do her husband only, which to me is just trying to be like Jenna both ways, she blew it. Put her is Maxim, FHM and Stuff all they want, won't change, she dropped the ball.

I think the next popular one will be a fresh face DP, Vivid, Wicked or Adam & Eve will bring out.
Devon and Tera were two in my eyes who would have been way up there if they did not have a falling out with DP. Jesse Jane? Seems they tried with her, Pirates is what should have made Jesse the big thing, what happened?
Teagan Presley? What happened? I see her face upon entering this forum site more than on porn covers.

Carmen Luvana, now there is someone who may sneak up after all this saturation with Gonzo finally subsides and features become back on track...keep a good eye out for this hot beauty for sure. A&E has someone they can push and do it the right way. Also she is very fan friendly, which helps in the industry in this era.

No argument about the cost of housing in Oklahoma vs. LA; and that being in Oklahoma is a smarter financial move for Jesse.

But my point remains that Jesse's move to Oklahoma, plus what appears to be a lack of much new product from her, looks like she's not putting together a string of sexvids, publicity, personal appearances that is required to be "viewed" as the Top Star.

Well said. Just like there'll never be another Marilyn Monroe or another Madonna, there'll never be another Jenna. She's the icon to the industry.
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who saw TeraVision as the poor man's ClubJenna.
