As for asking the director, i guess it is a hit and miss, some might answer, some might not and research on IAFD shows that these films are at least a decade old, so I'll try but if anyone can add anything I'll be grateful.

Don't know what movie it was but I can probably name at least three movies from that period (one with Sydnee Steele/ one Farrah/ and one with Lisa Ann) with hard and soft versions.

Personally I don't see the appeal of edited softcore versions of hardcore movies. If you have access to the hardcore version then that will do a better job of getting you off. If you're somewhere where you can't get hardcore porn and are stuck with softcore-only movies (like a hotel tv in a prudish country) then quality softcore movies and tv shows that were made from the ground up as such are much more erotic and will more easily get you off than some ridiculously castrated version of a hardcore porn. Real softcore movies usually have better production values that make the women look better and more interesting camera angles and far better plot&acting than edited hardcore movies where everything was primarily geared towards shining light on them holes.

Right now the only places producing softcore flics with any semblance of quality are Argentina, South Korea and Hong Kong (and not for long if China has its way). Hardcore pretty much killed softcore movies in the west, brazil and japan. You can check the bmoviefilms forum to read more about the remnants of softcore movie production in the US.

What I would like to see is to get an uncensored/"hardcore" peek of the action during softcore shoots with softcore actresses, a pornish BTS of sorts of softcore.

Take for instance Jayden Cole, she does hardcore G/G and softcore B/G. She never touches a dick in her hardcore work, but during softcore movies where she has sex scenes with men her male costars will be slapping their limp dingdongs against her cooch/ass (the junk may or may not be wrapped in a "sock") and her fans never get to see it. I think seeing pornish "hardcore" angles of softcore B/G sex scenes with actresses who have yet to do B/G would be pretty hot.

Some directors use multiple cameras and try to film both versions at the same time. I use the intro and every non-explicit moment of the scene and then shoot the hardcore. Afterwards, I have the talent shoot an additional 15 minutes of "fake sex" to complete the softcore version.
