I've notices some dvds are costing $20-30-more for what I thought were regular titles. Many seem to have Keri Sable in the cast. Is something up that I don't know about. Many are RLD releases. Thanks.

Other than Keri Sable -- who set the porn world on fire in 2005 -- having quit the business and walked away from a contract girl contract with Wicked?
(And there aren't going to be any more scenes from her once the ones already shot have been released)

Relax.
People trying to gouge us won't be able to for long.
There's lots of Keri stuff out there, and there's always the next "it" girl.

It's not like we're talking about Traci Lords here

Al Borda summed it up - Because I can

I don't know where you do your on-line shopping, but most RLD goes for about $15 after its been out a bit. Maybe about $20 when just released. Use the search feature on the left side of your screen.

No, Larry Flynt summed it up because he could . Look at it, Flynt's publications now cost twice as much as Hugh & Christie Hefner's Playboy. The Hefner's keep their mag at 4.95-to-5.95 range. Fifteen , twenty years ago Flynt's mags were economical. Then explicit mags lost a lot of distribution when taken out of convenience stores(7 Elevens), drugstores, pharmacies and the like. I would presume Flynt steadily ratches up the price because of the lost easy distribution of old.

I appreciate the studios that keep their DVD's affordable.RLD/PXP,Elegant Angel,Northstar,Digital Sin,Zero Tolerance, etc. are always around or under $20 in most online distros.I always wondered why Wicked,Digital Playground,Jules Jordan and Evil Angel are always more expensive.

It's all about doing business. If you were a company that could sell your movies for $25-$30 a piece instead of $15-$20 a piece and get the same sales, wouldn't you do that? RLD/PXP, Elegant Angel, etc can all charge more if they want and I'm sure they would if they can maximize their profits that way. It's whatever works for the company. And I'm sure Wicked, Digital Playground, Jules Jordan and Evil Angel may be more expensive also because of their name and reputation.

BigBoy - some of the RLD titles are really expensive right now because some of the directors left the company and are redoing their movies with their new companies. So there aren't many left in RLD inventory.

Hello. As a retailer, I have a different perspective.'because they can' is only part of the story. If you, as the consumer, continue to pay these prices, someone will always take advantage. If you are willing to wait, almost all titles will eventually come down in price. Producers initially attempt to recoup production/manufacturing costs by inflating the cost of new releases. It's a simple case of 'supply and demand' As titles get older and unsold quantities increase on retailers shelves, the price will almost always come down. There are many more variables involved, but the best advice is simply to wait. It'll 'trip your trigger' just as much 6-8 months from now as it would today. :) And, definately shop around. It never ceases to amaze me that there is so much disparity in prices for a specific title.

Just to relativize, several recent European DVDs cost around $50. Some stores sell Vivian Schmitt DVDs for almost $80. This sounds (a bit) ridiculous when top US productions sell for $25.

Lezlove Video is selling JAV g/g titles for 40 - 50 bucks per DVD, which I think is too much. These DVDs are hard to find, unless you speak/read Japanese and can order from those companies.
