I do videography work, have a nice camera and editing machine. Have lights and know everything there is to know about shooting and delivering high quality videos. But sometimes it's hard to find corporate work and I think about getting into shooting pornos.
All I got to do is find some guys/girls who have also considered it and do a split with them on the first few DVDs in a hot new porno series. Where I pay them nothing on the front end and instead pay them a percentage on the backend. That way they stand to make a lot more money off the deal in the long run.
Girl 1 10%
Girl 2 10%
Girl 3 10%
Girl 4 10%
Girl 5 10%
Guy 1: 5%
Guy 2: 5%
My Production Company: 40%
------------
Shoot 10 pornos like this to create a new porno series with a good theme. Sell all 10 to a porn distribution company for $5k+ each = $50k. Or sell $5k+ worth of DVDs on each one worldwide a year and with online subscriptions.
$50k x 40% = $20k profit to me.
If I do 10 pornos a month under this model, that's $20k x 12 = $240,000 a year.
Eventually I get away from this model and start paying people on the front end and get my percentages higher as my series gains in huge popularity.
Thoughts?

Or I could save and shoot 3 low budget porno DVDs to start a new series. Sell those for $5k each and roll that money into 3 porno DVDs in a new series with famous porn stars in it.
DVD MODEL PHASE 1:
Girl 1: $300
Girl 2: $300
Girl 3: $300
Girl 4: $300
Guy 1: $100
Guy 2: $100
-----------
$1,400 x 3 DVDs = $4,200 cost
If sell each for $5k x 3 = $15,000.
Roll $15,000 into 3 DVDS in a new series with professional/well known pornstars.
DVD MODEL PHASE 2:
Girl 1: $1,000
Girl 2: $1,000
Girl 3: $1,000
Girl 4: $1,000
Guy 1: $300
Guy 2: $300
-----------
$4,700 x 3 = $14,100
Then try to make at least $10k off each of those, $10k x 3 = $30,000.
$30,000 / $5,000 = 6 more pornos I can shoot.
Create 6 completely new/different lines and then expand each line depending on which one is most popular in sales.

Figure out how to market bogus dick enlarging pills and fake dating sites by using someone else's stolen content to drive traffic. THAT is the porn business in 2013

What are the odds of an actual Porn Mogul being the first to respond to this thread. I'm a huge fan of your work and of your company Mike. You guys must be doing something right, because while other companies went under, you guys stuck around.
Got any words of wisdom for any future porn directors out there?

PornDirector, are you gonna be filming in California or somewhere else? By the way, good luck to you!

I live in Texas, and from what I hear the laws are really strict in Texas. That is one of the things that have been holding me back from truly pursuing it. They are busting people for prostitution/solicitation all the time in Texas. If I lived in California, I think I would have already shot some stuff by now.
I was hoping to launch a new DVD series and get it picked up by a major distributor. Seems like that's how most porn directors are doing it nowadays. They shoot a series and it then gets pulled in under a companies umbrella and then they are shooting more porn for that company.

What is your ideas for making viewers want your scenes instead the billions of scenes already out there? Yes, of course the business planning/strategy is necessary. Do you have a secret undiscovered superstar up your sleeve? A unique videomaking technique? Something?

What kind of theme or niche are you hoping to film?
I Don't know what the laws are in Texas when it comes to filming hardcore sex scenes, but I'm sure if you do your research to get around all the red tape you should have no problem. It just takes a lot of time to contact the right government departments, and speak with them on how to avoid all the red tape so you can film hardcore sex scenes legally.
I truly hope you manage to become a porn director.

I live in Texas also and I've shot a few amateur scenes with an Austin couple. I found them on Craigslist and we clicked in terms of our likes and dislikes. We shot a few scenes for their personal use. I also shot a gay scene with a twink in Arkansas(I'm straight but one of my sub-kinks is twinks). I found him on 7chan.
I also responded to a few other internet posts, but only got those two offers. Basically I've shot with whoever said yes and I found attractive.
If you are a pro videographer with a legit reel you can show off, I'd advertise in Craigslist as a boudoir videographer and see if you get some takers. If you live in the Austin or SA area, send me a PM, I'd love to help out.

How have your profits been on trying to sell these videos? Have you tried contacting major studios like Zero Tolerance, Evil Angel, etc. to try to get them to buy your DVDs to distribute them? What camera have you been using? Thanks for any additional info, your above post is very interesting and informative.
