The problem is that at conventions there is a ton of background noise. Can anyone recommend a good sound editing program that can help me get rid of that? I run both a PC and a Mac but a Mac version would be preferred. [Link] |

If you're on a Mac, I'm told ProTools is the be-all/end-all; but I'm not on a Mac, so it's lost on me. :-) All that aside, noise reduction is more art than science -- despite what the scientists tell you. I've found noise reduction to be merely OK, and it often leaves all sorts of messy artifacts behind, resulting in a tinny or ringing sound. So you end up having to process discrete bits of audio to reduce the noise without introducing tin, which makes the whole process rather laborious. You could also just try to EQ it which might be easier, and its somewhat less prone to the tinny/ring of the dynamics processor. A quick Google search on "wave noise reduction" popped up this tool which on first glance does as good a job as any... [Link] |

I used Garage Band to import the file onto my computer. Currently I am just playing with the Jesse Jane interview I did in Digital's office just to get the feel for how it will work. [Link] |
